Cant get into my bases

Yes, upkeep is paid, I checked that first. It seems to be a graphics thing though, since when I click on the portal, the loading screen appears, then the bar moves about an inch, and the game freezes. I have to alt-tab out, and use Task Manager to do an End Process on cityofheroes.exe. Also, if I go to set FSAA in graphics settings, the same thing happens, the game freezes. I cant even move the slider to the first notch, it gets about 2/3 of the way to the first notch, and then it freezes. Not on a slouchy system either, I have a 2.53 GHz Intel processor, 4GB ram, and a factory overclocked 1 GB 460 GTX video card(that Ive had less than two weeks). Th FSAA I dont mind too much, but I MUST be able to get into my base. Anyone have any ideas why Im having trouble?

Petition while in game indicating you can't get in. There is a bug that won't allow you in if your rent is grossly overdue. Petition and the GMs will fix it. Same thing if you have no power.

I have power. I know that because I only have about 2-3 teleporters, and I made VERY sure there was enough power for them. The only other things I have in there is a crafting table and a couple storage boxes. Think there were two for enhancements, and 1 or 2 for salvage, and thats it. I was never one to go into the big flashy base thing. Also, its not just one server, it seems to be all of them, and all characters as well. Ive tried different characters on the same server, on Freedom, and Triumph, and Champion, for example, and none of them work. Still no idea whats going on. About to log in, will /petition in-game.

It's been said that once you see the progress bar start to move on the zoning screen, the process of zoning is now being handled client side. That is, it's your computer building up the map. So maybe the Base textures files have been corrupted and is causing your comp to choke. Did you try to do a Verify Files?

Its been happening since I installed the new client, just today. Ive verified the files 3 times today(I went to get coffee usually lol). Ill try that again.

Forgot to /petition while on Infinity, and it happened again. lol Oh well.

I dont have CoH on any other machines, and the couple I do have available are laptops, so even in Safe Mode, theyd probably choke on it. lol I cant think of any reason itd be my pc, but Im gonna try a few things now, see what happens.

OOOOK. Graphics thing I guess. Safe Mode lets me in. Still, I dont want to have to log out, restart in Safe Mode every time I want to go to my base, especially when the game runs fine at very high graphics settings otherwise.

And yes, its a solo SG.

Edit: All the Power/Control items are showing up with "Invalid string parameter" under where it says "Category". Also, my combo Control/Power device is apparently not producing any, although my requirements dont exceed what its producing. /confuzzleated now

Re-Edit: The pics are of a base on Freedom, the one on Infinity, however, is showing power/control levels properly.

Petition. There is a recurring bug that causes bases to lose power even when rent is paid up. If it's that bug, the GMs will usually fix it within 24 hours.

Already petitioned, and responded to their first email, which said to try Safe Mode. I cant change graphics settings from inside the base either. As soon as I click the Graphics tab, it freezes. Its like its a "Freeze game" button. Something, though I cant imagine what, is VERY wrong.

One thing I'm not clear on...do you have the freezing problem with your Infinity base as well as your Freedom base?

If yes, that does sound it may be a graphics problem. If no, it sounds more like a specific problem with that base, maybe some corrupted data. I don't mean to scare you, but people have had lost/corrupted bases in the past, though they usually got them back close to the state they were in before.

The issue with the Power unit not producing power even though Rent is paid up is one I've had to deal with for years now at only 2 out of my 6 Bases. It was more noticeable back when Rent was expensive because I wouldn't pay up until after 6 weeks and my Bases were powered down. Nowadays, with Rent negligible, I'm more willing to pay earlier if I happened to be in the neighborhood of the SG Registrar.

So anyway, what I would do is to sell off the Power unit and then buy it back. That has always cleared up the problem for me.

BTW... the invalid string parameter in the item info window is a bug from i17.

I was having this issue about a week ago. Should be a given, But have you tried verifying all files and then a computer reset afterwords? That's what worked for me. Had an issue with my pigg files.

Last week I was having the exact same base issues you described. It was definitely something on my computer because my teammate (whose SG I am coalitioned with) could access my base (he helpfully muled a few purples out of storage for me so I could respec a character).

There were a few other threads here and there over this issue that also suggested verifying files, deleting the checksum file and letting the downloader rebuild it, etc. I tried all of these, to no avail.

Oddly enough, what finally fixed the problem for me was loading into a coalition base. I entered my friend's base, no problem. Upon exiting, I could use my base and haven't had a problem since. I hope it works for you!

LOL! No, that wont work, because Im not in a coalition. As said above, its a solo SG, and noone will coalition with one(not that I want to, mind you).

Well, the next time you are on a team and are not the leader you could try to enter the team leader's base (assuming he/she has a base and has the permissions set to allow teammates to enter).

I am most assuredly not a computer expert, but I suspect that requiring the game to load new base information does something to clear up the problem with your base. All I can say with confidence is I could not enter my base even after following much of the advice in this and other threads. But I entered my friend's base on the first try and was immediately able to enter my own base.

Actually, I got a email today from them, and it turns out it was EVGAs Precision monitoring program(for video cards). I uninstalled it, and PRESTO!, able to get into my base. NO idea why it was causing that problem, but if anyone else is using it, and having similar trouble, try unistalling Precision.

Glad I ran into this with my search-fu.

I didn't bother uninstalling the program, I just ctrl-alt-del killed it.
worked great, and when i reboot, it's right back there, ready to overclock me for my OTHER work and play.

Stock Speeds for CoX till they get this straitened out.(eva version 2.0.0 haven't tried 2.0.1 yet, but i don't hold out much hope) At least till I install the MSI Afterburner.

as per http://www.anandtech.com/show/2939/2 it works on my current card(christmas upgrade is in the mail. YEAH!) and hopefully won't have the same conflict with entering bases.

Last resort would be to return to RivaTuner.
