Quote:If you're playing meleers, the only thing you need to know is Ctrl-Tab is the default for target nearest foe. Then press F (follow) to beeline to it so you can start pounding away. When you're finished with that foe, Ctrl-Tab again to get the next guy.When I get in a fight I am largely scrambling to target the right person and fire off my powers.

I forgot to mention this. If you're not necessarily interested in fast leveling, Double XP Weekend is a great time to work the Market. If you have a personal SG and Base with several enhancement storage bins, now is the time to fill it up with Common IOs for resale. Stock up on Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, Endurance Reduction, Endurance Modifications and Runs in the level 25-40 range.
Yes, there will be many people doing the same, but you can't go wrong working this. There are a lot of rich players and they don't want to be bothered with doing their own crafting. They will pay ludicrous amounts for your Common IOs.
Of course, keep your sell price reasonable so you can sell your inventory steadily. Steady sales with a chance of random big wins is better than locking up all your Market slots with high priced stock that aren't moving.
Set IOs are a bit trickier. They work out better later in the Double XP Weekend and the weeks after as the fast levelers look to upgrading from Commons to Sets now that they aren't as pressed for time. -
Did you know that you can change the colors of the chat channels?
- right click on the channel name in your chat window and select Set Colors.
Did you know that you can enable colors for global names? (Example)
- go to Menu-->Options-->General tabl-->Chat.
With those 2 set and if you include more than 1 channel per chat window, you should have an idea of how long ago someone posted in the channel.
I'd also suggest including the Hero/Villain/Praetorian Event Announcement channels to your chat windows. Unless it's a Rikti Invasion or Zombie Apocalypse Weekend, they'll only post a few every now and then and they'll also give you a sense of relative time passed. -
I have no intention of deleting any of my retired level 50s. In fact, I'm finally getting around to respecing my characters for Inherent Fitness. I've done 4 so far and 3 of them are long time retirees. While I have already run all my 50s through opening their Alpha Slot, though, I figure I will probably need a couple more months before I can work up enough Shards to craft the basic Alpha enhancement for them all.

Quote:Frankly, I'd suggest you not use the Double XP Weekend to powerlevel your characters too much. You might develop less affinity to them compared to ones you've worked on for weeks. You may want to consider making several new characters with a variety of powersets to test out instead.To jump in on this - I have never done an X2 weekend and was wondering what the best way is to take full advantage of it?
If you have a personal SG Base with storage, you may want to start crafting IOs and stashing them in preparation for use. If you do decide to push for maximum levels, you may not want to take a break from a good team to spend time shopping. If you're just going to use Common IOs, then just make a batch of level 25s and they can carry you to 50 if need be. -
Well, Thinkgeek has the Super Pii Pii Brothers game out for a while now.

Most of my retired characters have all the day job temp powers. The most used one is the Invention crafting discount coupons.

Well, I've had a /facepalm moment with a dummy 2nd account (just a Trial) that I created to pad my SG back when the Devs were giving out Prestige Bonuses. I looked up the wrong NCSoft user/pass in my notes and I accidentally bought it a Booster Pack.

In game, you go to Menu-->Options-->Audio & Graphics. There's a little section for Ultra-Mode. Just slide everything off and then nudge them back a bit until you hit a performance level that's acceptable.
You can also do a: /showfps 1 - to turn on the frame rate display (/showfps 0 to turn off)
From my own experience, Ambient Occulsion at any level other than off sucks out around 20 fps on my desktop system. I don't notice significant hits with any of the other options, but I keep my setting low to mid. -
There are many channels that were created for some reason or other, like SG, theme or activity. Most are pretty empty. In addition, the global chat system is not server specific, so generally you'd want to start with a channel for the server you're on. Until you're branching out to other servers, you don't need to join their channels. Searching for a pattern based on your server name will give you most of them. Of course, there are some like "JFA2010" won't show up if you search for "jus". Once you get on a channel, though, you can ask for other server channel suggestions.
-
Quote:Right click the center of a chat window, in the pop up menu, click "Channel Search". Enter a search pattern, for example 'jus' for Justice. Once you get the results, click on a column header to sort. Join 3-4 of the most populated channels and monitor them for a few weeks to see which has enough activity to suit your needs.Is there an option in-game to show available chat channels or do you need to know the name beforehand?
Note: the results only show public channels.
Note: you may want to organize them into one of the spare chat windows (ie the 1 2 3 4). You can also create additional Tabs in a chat window by right clicking a Tab and choosing "Add Tab". If you have multiple Tabs, you can split the chat window by right clicking a Tab and choosing "Move to Bottom".
Note: once you join a channel, most will default you into "silenced mode". You will need a channel moderator (a player) to unsilence you which should happen within a day. To check for a channel moderator, open your Friends window, then in the drop down menu, choose the global channel. A global name with a "star" icon next to it is a channel moderator. Note: sometimes a channel mod may be in hidden mode to avoid drama. -

Did you actually add the channels to your other characters' chat windows?
Have you tried saving your chat settings?
1 - log in one of your characters that have the chat set up the way you like.
2 - Menu-->Options-->General-->(scroll down to the bottom)-->Chat Settings File
3 - click the "Save to Default File" button
4 - log in your alt that needs their chat set up
5 - Menu-->Options-->General-->(scroll down to the bottom)-->Chat Settings File
6 - click the "Load from Default File" button -
- "The easiest archetype for a new player to start off with is a Scrapper."
After 6 years, I still have no Scrappers in my characters roster. The last serious attempt at one was maybe 4 years ago and I gave up at the low teens. I will note that I do have 3 Brutes and a couple of Tanks. -
Some of them are unintentionally well aware of the mezzers as a consequence of not understanding the purpose of their anti-mez armor choices.
-
I spent the last 2 years lowball bidding on and accumulating the recipes of the mid-30s stuff that I've finally crafted over the past couple of months for the new characters that I might make next year to use.
In the meantime, for active characters, I usually expect to spend a month to get what they need via 3-6 retired characters bidding over bracketed levels. -
When you log in a character, you get a lot of green system messages. One of which is a reminder of your global name. Just highlight it for a copy (ctrl-c) and then paste it (ctrl-v) into the email address. You can't go wrong. Well, unless you missed grabbing the period
. Let it be a lesson learned, give yourself a unique name.

Assuming this is the same Rutterkin = forum profile. He might not be an active player. You may want to send a petition for a GM to return the email.

Paragonwiki has the color palate with color descriptions:

Edit:
While panning my gaze over the descriptions, the corner of my eye locked onto F8 = Grasshopper Pie. Ewww! -
I mainly use the Notes feature to check the global name of a character. Most of the time, I don't put any remarks in.
I will make a note of players who play very poorly or act clueless. For example, the 5 year vet who kept getting lost in basic mission maps. Or buffers-type characters who don't buff or aren't even aware of the statuses of their team mates, some of whom may be right in front of them getting pounded. I'll make a note of players with slow reaction time, but I'll usually give them the benefit of the doubt (possible young players or people with disabilities) if they react at all. I'll also make a note of players who seem to be more interested in chatting outside the team, than playing with the team.
I will rate anyone on a team fairly favorably if they participated through out a Dr Q. Either the team was so good that we steamrolled it or they had the perseverance to stay and slug out a tough, long run. If they bailed without a word, it will also be noted (well, depending on how many hours they had put in). -
But wouldn't the lowest pop server have the least eyeballs looking at the prestige count along with least general interest in SG ranking? Your efforts at notoriety wouldn't have as significant affect to the ones who might care, nor would it be lasting since it's not in their face.

Reward Merits can be deleted? What about Vangard Merit or Incarnate Shards? Heck, what about Invention and Costume Discounts?
