Go into Menu-->Options-->General tab-->scroll all the way to the bottom-->Chat Settings File section-->click [Load from Default file]
If you had customized your chat window tabs with global channels, then you may want to log into a character who's chat window set up is still they way you like it. Then do Menu-->blah blah blah-->click [Save to Default file] first.
Edit:
By the way, I don't know if you were around when coloring chat channels was introduced. Left click the Channel name, then select color. If you have a chat window that shares several global channels, you can use the colors to differentiate the chats. Set up all the colors before you do the [Save to Default file].
Edit again:
You may also want to enable Individual Name Colors too (scroll back up to the Chat section). -
Aion at 3.5 million? Are there a couple of extra zeros? Didn't they just do a server merge a few months ago?

Quote:Out of the dozens of times I've participated in the original Position TF over the years, I had never actually anticipated the last mission. This has always been my opinion of it. That after hours of missions, I get numbed to it all, then suddenly, it's over.It all came to a close anti-climatically. All the sudden I was just kind of done. I was expecting to be sent to the damn itself for the final confrontation, but I guess they didn't have that when this was written. So, the ending was a let-down, but I did have plenty of fun and would do it again.

My peeve with Fortunes is that people must think it's like any other buff, except that Fortunes brings up a pop up confirm pop-up window. An pop-up window in the middle of a fight is very annoying and inconsiderate. It is reminiscent of unsolicited SG invites.

I went through his posts and placed my votes for everything that I've had some passing familiarity. And it looks like most of the stuff I like, ie that I read regularly, are losing.

Quote:Well, the Sonic, Force Field and FF Generator Dispersion Bubbles look like Oblate Spheroids.i still think it's more of an oblate spheroid than a true sphere, but regardless it's definitely not a cylinder.

Quote:Jim ButcherMy favorite Copyright Violation was about someone using a character named after some kind of famous character, getting generic... then appealing and winning the appeal because... well... he actually was the owner of the copyright...
Someone remember the details?

I was reading Penny-Arcade today and they mentioned an app = http://conventionist.com/ for managing you PAX schedule.

If the recipes are cheap enough, I'd buy up a bunch of them to tighten supply a bit. I'd bid creep on those recipes, though. You don't want to be throwing away Inf unnecessarily.

Did you pick any up to see how long they last?

If the names were really recognizable, someone would have reported you already. So, yeah, you shouldn't worry about it. However, if it does really bother you, you could always send in a petition and ask for a judgement by the GMs. If they agree that your names need to be genericed, they'll give you the opportunity to rename them for free.

For Council in Boomtown, it is best to send someone with some sort of ranged TAOE. This could be a Blaster or Controller with their AOE immob. The object is zip in, shoot it off and move on to another group. Use some other AOE if you have it for that next group. As long as you've got some damage in, you can let the 5th Column goons finish the job for you. Don't stop moving. Your mere presence can trigger the conflict of several adjacent spawn groups.
A good spot for Council is west of the gate. Once you enter Boomtown, hang a left and go 2 blocks, then stop to wait for your turn. The groups of Council and 5th are 1 block away (ie about 1 block in from the small west wall). If you get too close, they'll start fighting.
Similarly, for Freaks in Crey's Folly, I usually hang a left after entering CF and head to the far wall where the sandy piles are. This would be the SE corner on the map. There are several groups of minion + lieutenant Freaks fighting Creys. Sometimes you'll get lucky and they will be large groups.
For Warriors in Talos, there are good numbers of them between the Train station and the Tech store. They also hang out between the Train station and the TO store. You can't really miss them and they're in larger groups than those along the coast line during certain times of day. Evenings?
For Rikti, I was once on a team where a Tank herded up a nice group (with a non-damage taunt aura) while he waited. He cleared half the quota before I could zone in. -
The one who does Terra Volta can also do Independence Port since Family and Tsoo are right outside the TV gate along the bridge.

Quote:Looking at it another way:And here is a really good example from the wiki on why slotting lower than level 50 works great if you exemplar:
Quote:Example: Slotting Aimed Shot with
Ruin - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge: Level 40
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 50
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43
gives a total bonus of: 93.18% Accuracy, 93.57% Damage, 76.8% Endurance Reduction and 93.18% Recharge Reduction at full effect from level 21 to 50.
93.18% Accuracy = ~3 SO's worth
93.57% Damage = ~3 SO's worth
76.8% Endurance Reduction = ~2.3 SO's worth
93.18% Recharge Reduction = ~3 SO's worth
So this example squeezed in about 11 SO's worth of attribute boosts into 6 slots. This is the appeal of "frankenslotting" with Set IO pieces, you can effectively gain "virtual" slots. Or if you don't need max boosts on every attribute, you work out an acceptable combination and free up (real) slots for use elsewhere in your build. -

This article has been making the rounds:

I know that some of you write. So, do you have anything available on Kindle? Preferably cheap because I am. -
For Common/Generic IOs, since I have the Inf, I start using them at level 15. If you're short on Inf, I'd definitely suggest that you start making the level 25s to use once you get to level 22. Replace any lower level Common IOs with level 25s. The level 25 Common IOs are almost SO values. If you plan ahead, you can prepurchase the necessary recipes and salvage required. If you have a Base, you can store them until needed too. After level 25, I would suggest that you then just make the appropriate level IOs as you level up. Thus you may have a range of IOs in use on your character by level 50.
As for Set IOs, I like to slot mid-30s pieces for all powers that I've picked up by the mid-30s. After that, I'll make and slot level appropriate Set IO pieces. Note: I'm building with set bonuses in mind, so I take the level of the Set IO piece into account for exemplaring effects. If you are just mix-and-matching pieces from different Sets without regard to set bonuses (aka "frankenslotting"), then it doesn't matter what the level is of the Set IO piece. Slot what you have or the highest you can get a hold of cheaply. -
I've still only respecced 3 or 4 of my characters to Inherent Fitness. Or is it 5? Ack, I've lost count already!
As for the Incarnate system, the only thing I went out of my way to do was to open up the Alpha Slot on all my eligible characters just so I can get Shards if and when I play them. Most have at least the starter Alpha Boost enhancement by now, but I'm not focusing on any characters in particular. They'll get there when they get there. -

Quote:This was my first thought too. Like how old is your friend and what type of games has he played before?Another point to consider (which I don't think's been mentioned so far) is whether or not this is your friend's first MMO or not. From what you describe it almost sounds like your friend is more used to a FPS/console mentality where you are pretty much instantly-uber as soon as you start playing. The whole idea of having to "level up a character" sounds foreign to him and that may be the source of his frustration.
Hopefully your friend will have the patience to stick to any character long enough to enjoy the game. But there's always the chance that the "pacing" of an MMO is just not going to be acceptable to him. *shrugs*
