Ran Ouro Posi for the First Time
It all came to a close anti-climatically. All the sudden I was just kind of done. I was expecting to be sent to the damn itself for the final confrontation, but I guess they didn't have that when this was written. So, the ending was a let-down, but I did have plenty of fun and would do it again.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Running Old!Posi now is a very, very different experience compared to running it when it came out, or even prior to I16.
- You didn't have Stamina. Ever. Because you only got powers up to 14.
- If you weren't 14 you might not have a travel power. Enjoy sprinting over half of Paragon!
- What is this "super sidekicking" you speak of? That's crazy talk. So you're level 11 and you don't have a mentor, man up and brawl those +4s!
- What's that? You're a scrapper who doesn't get access to mez protection until level 16? What a pity. You probably won't enjoy these Murk Eidolons humping your leg, then.
- At that level range Vahzilok and Thorns scale pretty brutally. Running it with three people isn't so bad. Running it with eight makes every Vahz spawn a raging tsunami of bile. And the Thorns? Chill of the Night, Dispersion Bubble, Earthquake--who needs to hit things, AMIRITE?
- It's just too damn long. Positron admitted it was supposed to be two stories that got welded into one simply because of tech limitations.

You needn't worry that 40 merits in 2.5 hours is crazy merit earning. There are other Ouro arcs you can run solo that you can earn 40 merits on much faster than that... though I also think 1 hour to 1.5 hours for an Ouro Posi is quite doable.
I encourage you to run the new Posi1 & 2 if you haven't already. They're lots of fun. ^_^

The teaming! It burns! It freezes! Well OK, I might take your advice.

I don't see why this Task Force was so hated. Unless it's been altered in some way. Judged as an older story arc, it isn't half-bad.

Anyway I'm glad the Devs decided to redesign the Posi TF and it's cool they gave us access to the old one in Ouro. I'm hoping they'll eventually do that with all the original blueside TFs.
Loth 50 Fire/Rad Controller [1392 Badges] [300 non-AE Souvenirs]
Ryver 50 Ele Blaster [1392 Badges]
Silandra 50 Peacebringer [1138 Badges] [No Redside Badges]

We used to run this TF DAILY for 66 merits and if you have a Plants controller with seeds you can do it in 45 minutes. Embalmed go BOOM.
They dropped it because it is SLOW.
I may have to start running it again - we had a 4 man team who did it every day, Plant controller, 2 scrappers and a blaster can do this in a ridiculously fast time.
I did it last night in two hours. No super speed. No stealth. Just me. The spawns were pathetic compared to the Old Posi, even if you formed up and and had 2 people log out. No bosses. 1 elite boss in the last mission. You can call Posi and only have to return physically to him once.
I swear I could do it in 45 minutes with 3 simple adjustments.
ss and stealth. Could respec into it.
Better use of trains, ports and locales.
Pay attention and not take little breathers.
The last one was my downfall. Got numb after a while and sloppy.
In all, it felt much easier and quicker. My best run before was 1 and 1/2 hour. The mobs and status crap and no health, stamina, no purples, bad recharge rate, poor power selection made it a nightmare.
The Ouro one seemed like cake.

But the real problem with the original Positron TF was that it was a fairly bad design for newer players. You have to remember that for many people the Posi TF was their very first TF and if you didn't know what you were doing with a big unoptimized team they could be absolute nightmares. In the years I've played this game I've met a number of people who to this day will refuse to join TFs because of the awful multi-hour experiences they had slogging through their first Posi.
So I have absolutely no problem with the redesign of Posi. The new Posi is now much more enjoyable and a much more forgiving experience to newer players.

Oh, I did the original Positron on day 2 of the game beginning - it was AWFUL! I was broken with spawns being at +6 or better at times and after 4 hours we gave up because we had only done 4 missions!
I like the new ones far better!
Wanting something really different to do with my main MA/SR Scrapper Daemodand, I hit Ouro and noticed The New Recruits on the list of arcs I haven't done. A bit apprehensive that a "Task Force" might be too much for me solo, I went in ahead thinking if there was something I couldn't handle (like a full-Archvillain) I could just drop it and take it as a lesson.
The character Positron is a bit condescending. He talked to me like I was a teen side-kick or something. I guess you could be considered side-kick material at level 15. Also, I question his grip on reality as he seemed to think I alone was a team. Come to think of it, I am a one-man team! Posi was right all along. Fighting Vahzilok again felt really great. Daemodand hasn't seen combat with them for years (last one he fought must've been back in late 2006). Only the Radiation Eidolon Boss was of any real concern. The Elite Boss Cortex was a push-over by comparison. Low-level Martial Arts does a surprising amount of single-target damage. There were a lot of talk-tos, but I was in the mood for story/superhero simulation more than speeding and efficiency, so I rather enjoyed the travel (I skipped travel short-cuts like the Ouro Portal and just Ninja Ran everywhere) and I found the Perez Park patrol rather amusing. I haven't done a click-on-callbox patrol for the longest time so it actually felt fun/different. It all came to a close anti-climatically. All the sudden I was just kind of done. I was expecting to be sent to the damn itself for the final confrontation, but I guess they didn't have that when this was written. Imagine my horror during the last mission when I faced a "disconnected from mapserver" for what seemed like forever, but must have been about 29 seconds... longest mapserver error I've ever seen and been reconnected to the game. After that, it was a sprint to the finish, because I had put in too much time to not complete and get the badge.
When the scrapper said "Rest for end!" I said "No."
Old Posi was brutal. No stamina, sometimes no mez defense... I ran it once for myself and once so my wife could get the badge. Now, it wouldn't be nearly so hard with powers going to 20 and inherent fitness.

I actually do the Ouro arc instead of the new TFs on most characters now.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
True story. Two years ago or so I was dating this guy who would sometimes play City of Heroes at my house. One day he joined a Posi Task Force, which I had told him not to do because it exemped you below Stamina. He did it anyway, and it turned out no one on the team had stealth.
Four hours later they were about 70% of the way through the TF. The bf looked miserable. I told him to quit the TF if he was that miserable. He stuck with it, and finally after about another hour and a half they were done. He logged out, left my house, and the next day broke up with me. I literally never saw him again after that. I have long wondered whether my advice to quit if he was that miserable wasn't at least partly behind how that one turned out.
Yeah, old posi hasn't been frightening since SSK, exemped XP and keeping powers above your level, our SG used to knock it out in 2 hours without stealth as a kill nearly all 8 man team.
I used to duo it with a friend as 2 blasters in a little over an hour.
I also remember some of the grim all lvl 11-12 8 man teams in the early days (synapse with a similarly low level team was no cakewalk either).
The other Ouro advantage is that you can -1 it for speed. Normally takes me 90 mins or so as it seems to send you to the far end of boomtown for every other mission which it never did in the old days.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
