I've never gotten lucky off of someone else's mistake, but someone got lucky off of mine a couple times. The worst was paying 300 million for a piece of rare salvage.
I usually don't make mistakes like that, I'm very careful. But last week I bought two Crushing Impact recipes for 61 million instead of the 6.1 million I meant to pay... only reason I didn't buy a third was because it wouldn't let me, I had less than 61 million left to spend. :P Luckily I did that on an alt that only had about 150 million to play with.
I feel kind of bad for the person that did this though... but then, if they have 2 billion to spend on a PvP IO, they probably know where to get more.

So I had a Panacea end/heal for sale. Going rate was 200 mill or so. I listed it for 160 mill or so. Someone hit an extra 0 and it sold for 2 billion! Funny part is, it wouldnt have mattered if they hit the extra 0 for their 200 mill bid, if they had any amount other than the absolute maximum inf cap on them cuz they would have had insufficient fund to make the bid.
My other thought, is maybe they confused "End/Heal" with possibly "+hp/+end" and thought they were bidding on the proc. Either way, its a win for me.
