Was this in closed beta? In the live game the buff pets have only ever buffed the owner even though the descriptive text implied otherwise. Nothing i recall reading suggests the buff pets ever had any attacks outside of anything that might've been tried on the internal testing servers that players have no way to access.

As i recall the buff pets used to have a more standard pet AI which would cause them to rush into melee range of enemies since they had no ranged attacks. Unfortunately for the pets the reason they had no ranged attacks was because they had no attacks at all, and would then just hover around the enemies, presumably thinking little pet AI murder thoughts that they couldn't act upon.

Well Dark Melee has Siphon Life which damages your opponent and gives you health. Dark Melee is also a fast, hard-hitting set that has impressive single target damage but very little AoE. The fact that your tier 9 attack can make tentacles erupt from the ground around your target is just a bonus.

As far as the secondary on a Brute goes i'd probably suggest Willpower, Super Reflexes or Dark Armor. Willpower is the easiest to use, but SR and DA are both very effective sets in the late game that take a little more practice to play.

For a Stalker's secondary i'd suggest Willpower, Ninjutsu, Super Reflexes, Regen and Dark Armor.

Personally i'd think that a Brute suits the concept a bit better than a Stalker. If you decide to use Dark Armor i'd definitely suggest reading up on it in the Brute or Stalker forums. It can be a very strong set, but takes a bit of learning in building and playing to really "shine."

Okay, that's pretty cool. The closest thing i've done is turning off XP on my Rad/Sonic Defender, Perez Park Predator, at level 12 so that he will never outlevel his namesake territory. Which is actually almost the opposite of what you did.

Street hunting all the way to 50 is impressive. Especially since you never teamed or talked to contacts while doing it.

Hit Pocket D on Virtue first, then add the 'r'. (It's really not that bad, but it has a colourful reputation.)

Ah, okay. i thought not being able to perma DP might've had something to do with it. It kind of sucks that the Stalker hp cap is so low anyway.

Elec is already my current favorite Stalker primary anyway. i'll have to drop by a zone soon and give it a shot.

*heh* i haven't read a post by F_M for months unless someone quotes something. When that happens i'm reminded how little i'm actually missing.

i didn't realize WP was that good for Stalkers in PvP, or at least better than regen. i guess i haven't paid enough attention to current PvP preferences for Stalkers. My only two Stalkers of any level are Elec/Nin and DM/Nin, and oddly enough i've never taken either into PvP even though i use less optimal combos like my Dark/Ice Def, Widow and PB.

What is it that makes WP more popular now than Regen for Stalkers? Is it the more layered mitigation with click heals, +hp, resists, regen and +def as compared to regen being mostly click heals, +regen and some +hp?

Also, DM or Elec?

(Might drag one of the two i mentioned into a PvP zone just to see how they fare. )

Eh? i must be thinking of a different meaning for roundabout. i usually think of it as meaning circuitous or indirect, which is more about not giving a direct answer than anything to do with being insulting. With regards to CoH2 it makes sense to be somewhat roundabout because almost nothing is known at this point, so it's hard to make decisive statements unless you simply make **** up.

The cool-down was never about the markets except in a peripheral way. It's at least partly related to the genre CoH is based on: superhero comics.

i know there's a group out there based in RP'ing White Wolf's World of Darkness vampires. They've been advertised pretty regularly on air by The Cape. At the moment i don't recall their name or contact info. (i've probably got bubbles in my thinktank.)

As much as i'd like to believe Shouty McShouterson i've also heard nothing to support what he posted. i don't expect to see any of the current PvP mechanics repealed, but i hope to eventually see some of them dialed back a bit more. Still, i have no reason to think it'll happen any time in the near future.

Same here. Last time i looked only the name check button on the character select screen was working.

Eh? It was always declared unique if you're referring to the chance for build up proc. Nothing even slightly sudden about it. Even when it was finally fixed to work correctly there was a fair bit of advance warning.

One person expressing mild exasperation out of three responses and still attempting to supply relevant info (minor error in original link aside) would certainly seem to confirm your statement. Especially if you've ever been to any other MMO forums.

But yeah, meeting one or more of the criteria for a closed beta invite does not guarantee that you'll get in first. Not only are there many others who have the same status, but invites are also prioritized by things like whether the people being invited are to test an area of the game they're known for being very experienced with, how helpful they've been in past betas, and other criteria known only to the Devs.

There's no way to say for sure when someone will get a closed beta invite. (Although Arcanaville getting an early invite is basically a given. ) Based on past closed betas you see will forums for the closed beta in the main forum list once you get your invite even if the invite email itself is lost. (For the i17 closed beta my invite ended up in the spam folder and i didn't even realize i'd gotten the invite for some time.) Check your email, check the boards, and eventually you should get in.
