Quote:Technically it's not the value of the set bonus that matters but what it's named. You can have more than 5 of the same value set bonus if they're assigned different names in the game. Of course that means you can't get a bonus for more than 5 of the same set, but it's not always the case when using different types of sets even if the bonus is the same. It's not the actual sets per se, it's just that only up to five of the exact same number count. eg: if you slotted four Doctored Wounds and three Red Fortune (both of which have 5% recharge bonus), the recharge bonus would only count the first five of them.
EDIT: Don't forget, also, that some specific enhancements such as purple sets are marked as "only one per build." -
Quote:*huh* That's a lot like the version a youth group* i was in sang when we carried the birthday boy/girl into the local ice cream parlor on our shoulders for their birthday treat:Moggie informed me that today (Friday) is her birthday!
So I'm wishing her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOGGIE!
And here's one from the SCA: (sung to the tune of The Volga Boatman)
Happy Birthday! <thud!> Happy Birthday! <thud!>
1. Now you've aged another year
Now you know that Death is near
Happy Birthday! <thud!> Happy Birthday! <thud!>
Haaappy Birrrthday! <thud> Haaappy Birrrthday! <thud>
Grief, misery, and despair,
People dying everywhere,
But Haaappy Birrrthday! <thud> Haaappy Birrrthday! <thud>
So yeah, Haaappy Birrrthday, Moggie! <thud>
*The youth group was a Protestant church youth group that met in a church that was featured in a classic heavy metal album cover. -

Edit: Also, why not? We're not quite sick of the "Unassuming dude ends up with the powers to save the city he loves while barreling through angst" genre. We're not even remotely tired of it yet.Sorry, but i actually am rather tired of that formula.

Aw, Smoof.
Gary Oldman's in it, so I'll watch it but it doesn't look like "Red Riding Hood" to me so much as "Ginger Snaps 3".
Edit: Although the presence of friends and alcohol while viewing it may have influenced my perceptions a bit. <.< -
Quote:How about the friends i've had who have been regularly training in martial arts for over ten years? Admittedly none of them have ever put on costumes to roam the streets looking for crime...Not to mention the 10+ years of training that he underwent.
Most of the RL superheroes train for like a few weeks, if at all. Even military training at it's longest is about 14 weeks (for the USMC). There are additional training programs after that, but generally not to the point where you are considered invincible. (Unless you undergo Special Forces training, which I wish even beat cops could undergo......but that would probably make for a vastly reduced police force, as not everyone can complete such harsh training)
Now, if people in the military began training at the earliest possible like the Spartans did, and then decided to become a superhero, that would be an entirely different story....... -
Yeah.
Still, it's a pet peeve of mine. i mean, the word "archetype" appears five times at the top of the page when you post in this section, and "arch type" has a completely different meaning than "archetype."
Suppose you're a heterosexual woman hanging out with some girlfriends in the park talking about attractive men and you see this really appealing guy named Doug nearby walking his German Shepherd. Looking over at him and saying, "The Dog over there is really sexy." generally will not get the same reaction as saying, "The Doug over there is really sexy." -
Quote:Yup. It doesn't matter what Incarnate Boost you have slotted, but if you attempt an Incarnate TF with the slot empty you will be under a debuff that lowers your effective level by 4. So your ability to hit enemies, avoid being hit by them, the damage to and received from enemies, it all functions as if you are 46. IIRC correctly pets and pet-based powers still spawn and function at level 50, but i expect that's a bug that will be fixed, so it's best to simply unlock the slot, run a couple high level TFs, and craft a boost before running an Incarnate TF.If you do not slot the Alpha slot with anything and you do the incarnate TF's. This will be the scenario. You will be 4 levels less then a player with the alpha slotted.
So lets say the enemies will be lvl 54. Your team mates will be lvl 50 and you will have the power of being lvl 46. That is 8 lvls difference. Good luck in hitting stuff... and survive. (Thats atleast my impression) -
Quote:It's an option in the General section of the options menu. Hmmm, let me log into the game and see what the exact name of the option is...How did you get your teammates names to show up in different colors in team chat?
Menu->Options->General
Scroll down to the Chat section and enable Individual Name Colors.
Note that it will color the character names when they generate outputs in all chat windows, not just teammates. The color is based on a hash generated from the character name. -
Quote:i think Rikti are terrible at supporting walls and ceilings, so i strongly disagree with making them an arch type.I want to know how many people would like the rikti to be a new Archtype. Also, if so, how could it be pulled off.
i don't even want them to be a pillar type.
The Rikti would probably find it boring anyway. -
Quote:Some Defender combos do quite a bit of damage, others much less.Yes that is an excellent deal, I found defenders have a lack of damage so far but I havent tried very many.
For example, Rad/Sonic Defenders can solo Giant Monsters. Then again Sonic Blast is considered the highest damage output secondary for Defenders.
One of the fairly recent additions is that Defenders now get a damage bonus solo that diminishes with additional teammates until it becomes zero with four or more teammates, which makes soloing even easier than it used to be. -
Quote:In my experience that pretty much describes New England from Boston on down. Nothing like going from mid-70s to an ice storm in the space of two days.Maybe up in northern New England, for more southern New England we have all 4 seasons, there just happens to be a high chance of experiencing them all in the same week.

Quote:Also, because certain other people seem to have very... let's say malleable... memories it's worth noting that at the M&G where they announced the goal of releasing on the 16th they also said that it would be delayed until after the American Thanksgiving holiday if it wasn't ready by the 16th.Or they could have been trying to track it down and fix it since it was first discovered, but once the 16th got too close they realized they weren't going to be able to fix it in time.
As disappointed as i am by the delay i'm also capable of understanding why it's needed. -
Quote:Wait, what?This...
GR and how it's been split into different parts, some of which had to be paid separately is very bush league.
What's being paid separately?
The only thing i can think of that even vaguely relates to this assertion is the Party Pack, and really it's not Going Rogue content even if a few of the dance emotes were accessible during the closed beta.
Going Rogue content being released over more than one issue is not news, and trying to turn that into Going Rogue being sold as separate parts requires some impressive mental gymnastics. Seriously, even before GR went live it was known that Incarnate content would be released over multiple issues, and that other GR content would be expanded over time as well. At no point will i be paying separately for GR content. As more is released i will have access to it simply by having bought GR when it was first released. No further payments required. -

i have multiple alts with two travel powers, and i don't mean SS and SJ.
i also have multiple (40+) alts with no (pool) travel powers at all.
There's also somewhat larger group with a single travel power.
By travel power i mean the third tier powers. -

Quote:My Widow on live: TT: Assault 15% +damage, Leadership: Assault 15% +damage... and a minor difference in modifiers or endurance costs doesn't make them different powers in any meaningful way.I feel I should point out that the VEAT Leadership isn't the same as Pool Leadership. Different modifiers and VEATs don't get Vengeance.
Quote:It's also no different than a Tank/Brute getting Taunt and Provoke, a Scrapper getting Confront and Challenge, Dark Armor/Energy Aura taking it's stealth power and Stealth, Empathy/Sonic/Pain Dom/Thermal taking mez protection and Stimulant, Regeneration/Willpower getting Fast Healing/Quick Recovery and Fitness, etc.
Quote:Scrappers having two copies of Caltrops would be like Controllers, until recently, getting a second PFF in Mace Mastery if they had a FF secondary or Kheldians being able to double up on travels if they were allowed to take the pools.
All moot anyway. As mentioned already power proliferation is bit less bound by the cottage rule. -
From what i've seen it seems to me that proximity factors more than facing into whether affecting a given mob will alert others in the spawn.

Quote:Oy vey. Still supplying the facepalm/headdesk moments, eh?It's too bad I'm not in charge! This game wouldn't be struggling for subscribers right now forcing the tasteless tactics of pulling the free toy out of the happy meal and reselling it to those who love to get those toys out of their happy meals (Party Pack).
Someone with a level 50 kheldian has to have another level 50 toon unless all of a sudden now that they unlock at 20 for the past 2 months there has been a mass influx of people who never played the game powered their way all the way up to 50. And if that other toon is a dom, guess what, they can just run 4 days of side-switching, go villain and have at it with their now unbugged toon until the fixes came.
And yes LOLpvp indeed, the community that they had before they hacked its limbs off and left it for dead the last 2 years would now equal about 40% of the now current playerbase. Before you quote the yellow and red dots for population, why is their financials so bad for 3Q, they JUST released a new "large" portion of the game to buy, the previous time they did that was with CoV and there's a stark contrast of the value added between 3Q 2010 and 2Q 2005. The servers back in 2005 never got as high visually as it does now, the playerbase has shrunk since then and the new graphics load of Praetoria plays hell with the server perception.
Vote for me as Head of State for Paragon and I promise you shall never have to pay for a happy meal toy again!

Okay, the first reason it's good that you're not in charge is that you know less than nothing about how the game systems work. i mean that literally. If you had the slightest idea how the game worked you wouldn't make so many statements that are actively wrong. Yes, i understand that in advertising detailed knowledge of the products being advertised is not required, and might even be a liability, but when you're running a company that's actually producing a product like a game it's really rather essential to know something about it. Err, something true.
First off, graphics have nearly nothing to do with server load. Graphics are all handled at the client end. Now i don't disagree that GR might have increased the amount of load each player puts on the server, but the graphics had nothing to do with it.
Also, just to reiterate it yet again just in case*, the queue system does not work by adding invisible characters to each server. It really doesn't. Really, really.
Have you not read the recent thread about CoH's recent financials, or did you simply understand it as well as the other game aspects you've weighed in on in the past? Based on your post i would guess it's a yes to at least one of the two.
Seriously**, i think you're Wrongbot disguised as a human being deliberately misinterpreting and misrepresenting things as part of some nefarious plot that will ultimately be executed incorrectly. Dr. Wrong is nearly as insidious as Nemesis in that regard.
*i suppose i should be grateful to you for keeping my expectations about some things low; especially since the announcement that this thread was created to discuss has raised them a bit in regards to the Devs. Kudos to them for not rushing it out without fixing it.
**Not actually serious at all. -
Obviously it depends a lot on how often you defeat level 47+ enemies. i've only gotten something over a dozen purple drops, but i'm defeating 47+ enemies maybe 10% of the time on average at most. i spend most of my time leveling up new alts.

Quote:Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.Sounds good to me. I'll cheerfully use that very idea for one of my characters. However, you guys do realize that's a non-canon rationalization of how the Well works? It's been made pretty clear that it's a magical font of superpowers.
Or was it the other way around?

Random thought:
Is a large group of healthy and active, but otherwise ordinary, modern humans over age 60 science or natural origin? By the standards of a bit over two centuries ago they'd obviously be the product of some sort of unnatural process just by appearance alone. -
That's better than a miserable little pool of secretions.
Zombie Man is a very helpful and articulate fan of the game. If this were some sort of fantasy or anime universe he would be one of the Seven Legendary Forumites, or some such thing. Since it isn't he's just a guy who compiles and posts really useful info for everyone's benefit. -
Wait, i could swear i read this exact same thread about a month ago.
