Quote:1) Yes I know. Low population on the main servers equates to insignificant population on the test server, was the point I was attempting to make.
2) I logged on a couple of times on each server between 8:30-10:30, Saturday night - I would consider that prime-time. This might not be the 'best time' but it's when I wanted to play ie - it was the best time for me. I'd left one of my alts - on Defiant - near the IP entrance in King's Row, I flew to the Atlas statue and saw ONE other player.
3) and they're important to me too. I have serveral names I'm very attached to; several level 50's; a couple of SG bases; a pile of inf. It took me a while to realise that although they're a large part of what I enjoy about the game, they're not as important to me than other things. In an ideal world Defiant & Union would still be my servers of choice; I don't live in that world.
4) I've waited a long time...long enough, I really don't think they will, which is why I've jumped. I'm still hopeful that the thing they're working on to address this stuff actually works; if it does I'll be back.
I'm not arguing the "OMG teh EU Servers are dead" line - having been accused of that in the past when all I've said was they were "getting a bit quiet" I'm well aware that there is a loyal community on these servers. I'm aware there are lots of people who play every night and find teams, but I didn't. I ended up teaming with the same people all the time. I didn't find many (non-farm) PUGs when I left a year ago and I don't see why that would be any different now.
All I'm saying is:
I like PUGs more than all the stuff keeping me on the EU servers - I like broadcasting 'lvl x lft' and getting a team; for me personally this is one of the main attractions of this game and always has been.
I guess I don't really like 'the european family feel'; I don't like everyone on the server knowing me, or me knowing everyone, it feels like living in a village.
Sorry if anyone finds this offensive, it really wasn't meant to be.
I'd agree it's very tough finding a "PUG" on Defiant - and most people tend to use Defiant Events and their globals list to get teams.
Yes there is a problem with server numbers - but I'm more attached to my toons than you otherwise I too would seriously consider moving stateside. -

I would like to see what might be termed "The Galactus Event" - where a world breaking threat appears - probably with some precursor missions - and the inhabitants of the game on all sides have to come together to literally save the world
obviously it would have to like not kill the game in one move but something that actually makes the community feel threatened with a penalty for failure - for example taking the zone/area in which the event occurs off line for an amount of time or some other, similar effect.
I'd also like to see a serverless environment -
Very bad news
And also share a thought for the people of Kyrgystan and Thailand too -

Quote:Yep. During WWII, smoking was actually considered somewhat "healthy" and ciggarettes were included in G.I. rations... so radioactive toothpaste doesn't really surprise me all that much. LOL
in fairness it was the palliative effect. There was already plenty of indications of the harm smoking did but cigarettes do have a calming effect on the nerves and the benefits were deemed to outweigh the risks - but the point several have made is pretty valid, that often it takes a while to understand the effects of new materials.
For example many of the ancient Greek monuments were restored by the British using the wonderful new material known as steel - little thought was given to the fact that it rusts and expands as it does so. -
hmmmm... sounds like Damz' bank account's been busted
See ya soon -
So far as I'm aware the GMs tend to look at things on a case by case basis, and tend to err on the side of protecting their company - a not unreasonable position to take.
We can probably all cite instances where we have see obvious infringements - but I can't think of too many that lasted for very long - and we'll never know what happened to them as the result of petitions. -
I wondered if we weren't referring to Kirk Douglas' finest role for a moment then...
I mean, it ended with a handgun right? -
I loved this one:
Quote:Yes SS is really useful in IP, Kings Row, Grandville, Talos, and every zone where there's ledge higher than you can jump. When selecting a travel power go with super speed unless you really have a strong desire to fly, leap, or teleport. You spend a lot of your time online getting from one place to another and none of the travel powers can get you around the zones as efficiently as super speed."
made me chuckle -

I'm never going to look at Stan Lee's origin stories in the same way ever again

I intensely dislike the look of ninja run - although I do love the power itself for lowbie characters. It's also useful getting around in caves but I think it looks more hammy than Dick Dastardly in his prime.

Quote:From the pictures I've seen, Britain has some lovely looking countryside, and lots of castles and other old buildings to look at.
We do. And one of the richest documented histories in the world. It's has a rich tapestry of beautiful countryside, exciting built environments and a rich and expansive culture.
The snag is most people who live here forget to see the good stuff. -

Quote:I definitely agree with Grouchy that a Crupper is the way to go but rather than rad how about DP/Kin?Well, not going into background, as I don't think that's relevant...
But the concept power wise, is Dual Pistol using hero, who is genetically enhanced to be durable, able to keep going when others would be lying face down (this is the regen aspect...able to geep going with a hole in her chest, when others would fall face down), who's senses allow her to see in bullet time.
She's fast and agile, and while not bullet proof per se, is able to take a beating (S/L style damage), while being suseptible to elemental style forces (F/C/E/N), needing to rely on her reflexes to avoid such attacks, with a strong mind, that isn't easily manipulated (Psi).
Like that? Or do I need to give more of a background detail?
Gives you a good heal, and siphon power, siphon speed, and some additional boosts to End.
If you take fighting, acrobatics and maybe the Mace PPP maybe that gives you close to what you need
It's not 100% maybe (but then what can be?) but I think it might be close. I suspect it'd be a fun mix to play too. -
I think I'd need more info about the concept before I proposed a build. I'm not totally sure of what you're trying to achieve here and some clarification would be good.
It sounds interesting but tell us more. -

Oh come on... the UK passed a Digital Economy Bill on the day a General Election was called. Everything can be April Fooled if you try hard enough - ask any British politician. -
Quote:Exactly. 80 actual developers would be a gigantic game-changer (no pun intended). If we're talking 80 (or 70, in reality) employees, well, that doesn't really give us an idea of how much developing firepower we have.
I'm going to say that we have under 30 Real LiveĀ Devs in Paragon Studios right now. That's still twice what we had during the lean times, but it ain't 80!
EDIT: Just counted, and it looks closer to 40, which is still impressive, but half of the OP's estimate.
I was working from memory I admit but I seem to recall that number being announced on the EU forums not long before their demise. -
Quote:It's a technical possibility. Much more so for the dev team than the community, though. (A community-developed costume creator would have to first interpret the model structure used by the game.) And I doubt the devs would spend time on such a thing because...
On the other hand, it's a legal nightmare as far as I understand. They made a separate costume creator for the Korean version of the game, but nothing over here, and the Korean version was never updated. Ever wonder why?
added to which I suspect more than one person would cry "I want this for my XYZ" not just the iWhatever.
