What scared me most was that, in the second product, there was a remark saying: "Donated by XXXXXXXX, the box was empty."

That means someone actually used all the contents... O.O

When radioactivity was discovered, it was the "new cool thing".

So, various health drinks, products, and various other stuff claimed having radioactive elements, particles and treatments emerged.

The cancer link to radioactivity hadn't quite been made yet.

www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

I'm totally wanting a Nuka Cola Quantum right now.

Yep. During WWII, smoking was actually considered somewhat "healthy" and ciggarettes were included in G.I. rations... so radioactive toothpaste doesn't really surprise me all that much. LOL

in fairness it was the palliative effect. There was already plenty of indications of the harm smoking did but cigarettes do have a calming effect on the nerves and the benefits were deemed to outweigh the risks - but the point several have made is pretty valid, that often it takes a while to understand the effects of new materials.

For example many of the ancient Greek monuments were restored by the British using the wonderful new material known as steel - little thought was given to the fact that it rusts and expands as it does so.

Yep. They used to play with radioactive stuff all the time. Heck, ask your parents how many of them played with Mercury in science class? A single drop of methylated mercury will kill you. Plain mercury only causes nerve(brain) damage.

Kent used to make asbestos cigarettes.

EDIT: Dear god, image broke the page. Here is a link.

Also, when you're in a situation where you may be blown into bits, dismembered, gutted like a fish or shot in the head at any given moment, the possible health risks of smoking don't worry you all that much.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.
