Best wishes for the future.
What you called "Surly" I tended to view as informative.
Hope whatever you plan pans out. -
Quote:Glad I'm not in your SG then. Sounds kinda fascistIn our SG, if you have a kin, you have SB. You use SB, specially on the tank. If people aren't around when you are firing off SB, their loss. Speed Boosting everyone makes anything we do so much faster than some random attacks from a non-blaster. We all have kins and take turns in our TF's and such so one person doesn't spend 4 hours spamming the power. Not saying this is the right or wrong way to do it, it's just the way we do it.

Quote:This. Bill's expecting a static product that works out the box but evolution dictates there will be some unforseen side effects.Yep it'll work until someone comes up with [cool new feature du jour] which they didn't account for.
Player: "I keep crashing when I use Taunt, why is that?"
Customer Support: "Are you using direct neural interfacing?"
Player: "Yes"
Customer Support: "It's a bug caused by using direct neural interfacing and Taunt, it turns out that since the Taunt effectiveness is based on volume yelling to loudly causes the Taunt magnitude to go out of range and crashes the game."
Of course they could always roll back to I1 -
Quote:only if you were coming from Nova as a lowbie moving on in the arcs. Not if you were say like 10+ and had been in Nova for... anything. How about you'd been exemping down to help your friends and were now returning?I'd hardly call it screwed, since you leave Nova before you can get debt.
It's not a massive problem that's game breaking but it does rather go against what we've come to expect and trust. I'm all for a bit of risk but please only in circumstances where I've come to expect it; NOT when I log in at the trainer. -
Quote:What's the tether system? I'm not familiar - but yeah it could just be an unfortunate place for Winter Lord to spawn. Worse, if you caught the train from Nova as a lowbie, you're screwed if they are inside the station. You won't know they are there til they get you and then it's hospital. That really shouldn't be allowed to happen.Well, drones and the likes weren't very fitting with the praetorian world. So they made the tether system, which works fine.
I do think it's rather daft to put a present spawn location right next to the onyl trainer in the area.
Quote:Although I agree the Winter Lord problem should be fixed, you can just head straight across the river to Nova without bothering with the station. You'll zone as you get most of the way across the river. If you already knew that, well, just a reminder for those who didn't. -
So I logged into one of my little praetorian toons and within like 2 seconds I was dead.
I'd left her at Nightstar last time I'd played her having levelled and logged. Logged in and Winter Lord is looming large above me and bam there I was, strawberry jam on the pavement.
So a quick trip to the hospital and a mission with a friend and we ding at the end of it. We cannot level at Nightstar because... Winter Lord is still there. We're level 10 and he's a GM and he and all his cronies are conning a very purply purple colour - as you'd expect.
So a quick discussion: We'll run past and get into the station and level at Nova. Except that there are actually about 5 or 6 purple conning snowbeasty things inside Imperial station. I got about three steps in before I was flat out again.
This raises an interesting point: In Paragon and the Isles, all the transportation points are guarded by drones - PPD or Arachnos drones prevent anything slapping the unsuspecting character as they are trying to move from zone to zone - and I must confess I'd never noticed the absence of guards at the stations but suddenly the whole zone was effectively locked out to a player who didn't want to take on the Winter Lord or fight through the tunnels.
At level 10 taking on the Winter Lord isn't really feasible (we tried and giggled at the result) so shouldn't there be drones or some kind of "anti-spawn" radius around the stations? -
We already have a simple DPS meter built into the game: Hit the enemy. If it falls down you did enough. If it doesn't you need to do more to it
Anything in addition to what we have now doesn't add to the game IMO -
I tend to think that costumes of NPCs need to be more distinctive than to be "good" - the latter is a lot more subjective than the first in this case I reckon.
In that, their colours have achieved the objective and the costumes themselves are pretty varied from plain to cool IMO.
I totally agree with Dante that they need some credible lore attached to them though -
Quote:I ddn't know that but I guess it wouldn't be too tricky to give them the same mechanic which the Rikti and Zombies have... I've never really struggled with them on my lowbiesJust an FYI, this would actually make them significantly harder for really lowbie characters to fight. It's possible you don't realize how the GM scaling code works, but the mobs have a "true" level that's not displayed. If you are below that "true" level, you deal damage to the creature as if it were your level -1. But that doesn't mean it dies like it is your level -1 - it dies as if it is its true level (which for Rikti and Zombie stuff, is level 30, and Edit: 50 for the EBs).
I suppose they could make them GM-like and specific to the zone. That wouldn't eliminate the problem, but it would be a lot less severe. -
Quote:I wasn't implying it was on purpose in any way. But it clearly wasn't tested terribly wellDoes "incorrigible" mean the same thing on Defiant that it does on Champion or Virtue? Just curious.
I suspect that, as others have speculated, we'll see some sort of apology with an in-game manifestation. Extended event, etc. I see no reason to assume the worst and even less to imply that they did this on purpose. -
Thnks: Gr'tthrd
I would like to add my own take on this with
Rikti: Smooth - the coolest tunes for interdimensional invasions!

Quote:Never seen that on DefiantYep.
I've given up complaining about it. If I see a problem, I tend to switch to a higher character and clean up if I'm in a helpful mood.
What bugs me MORE than that, though, are the *delightful* little twirps who see a lower level runnign for a package, and make it a point to cut in front, grab it - and yeah, leave the spawn, nine times out of ten.
The problem is relatively easily solved making mobs spawn at the player's level a la Rikti and Zombie attacks. That would fix it. -
ok we'll be running our Third Test tomorrow (Saturday 18th) from 6-7pm GMT - 7-8 CET on Defiant.
I'll be keeping the bouts to lowbies... (under 20) so that it's a lot more inclusive and a chance to win a free cossie code! -
I would say there's a lot of truly excellent content that is easily soloable - especially once you're able to access Ouroboros.
Granted there are some awesome TFs, but many are like the curate's egg (ie good in parts) and there's some rubbish too. But many of the arcs themselves are worthy of being a TF but are simply excellent arcs. -
I'm making all the variants so that when the next opportunity presents itself to craft I will be able to start building on all options, depending on what they offer me

Quote:Are you sure that's a kitchen you're describing? Sounds like a euphemism to meShe sold me on the galley kitchen.
"It's rather narrow." I said.
"Think of it as very long!" She replied with a smile, gesturing to emphasis the length. She had a point, what I lost in width, it was made up for in length. With room at one end for a breakfast bar, and one of the classic American fridge-freezers coming with the property. Ice dispenser, water tap, the works.
But I heartily agree with the OPs sentiment. Some kind of "winterfest" decor is badly needed in Paragon and the Isles -
Quote:If she isn't... she bloody well should be!Don't let Samuraiko decieve you. She works for Paragon Studios, dupin' vids now. o.o
Really. Honest. 0.0
Credit where it's due though, that's one of the best bits of marketing I've seen come out of Paragon Studios. That actually worked - unlike some of the dire efforts we've seen in the past.
A very welcome, not to mention long overdue step in the right direction and here's to hope there's plenty more.
And for those of you saying "there're no Villains - who's to say? Much of that was filmed in Co-Op zones. And we all know Recluse hates xmas, it makes his arms freeze up -
I remember reading a guide which had a section in making a Macro which would enable 3 inspirations to be combined automagically into a Break Free
I've searched all over and can't find it (can't even remember the guide tbh) so can anyone help? One that made BFs and one that made Purples would be fab -
I'm splashing out on a new gfx card for xmas - and I'm not sure what the best options are for my budget.
I'm currently playing on a 9800GT, and an AM2 processor in WinXP
I've been advised that the Radeon 4870 is a good choice and I'm looking to spend around £100 GBP but from looking through the forums here I get the impression there may be issues with ATI drivers?
TIA! -
Outcasts - the whole Frostfire Arc is a landmark and rite of passage for any player and really sets a tone. Now that it's not necessary to "do the Hollows" as an almost mandatory game experience it's really good to sometimes just run through the whole zone and its stories which remain some of the best in the game.
Clockwork - the Original variety seem initially just harmless but then when they are re-encountered at high level there's a very interesting story there and I cannot but help think that the Clockwork King has been poorly served by the flexible justice system in Paragon City.
Council - the fascists everyone loves to punch in the face repeatedly and a great home in Striga.
Circle of Thorns - one of the truly evil groups that actually present a contiguous challenge throughout the entire game.
Vazhilok - So badly under utilized. They should have a much broader level range.
Banished Pantheon - again evil and under used but they seem to have an underlying malevolence that the CoT don't quite manage -
I have all the boosters up to the Party Pack and the Capes/Auras one.
There is no way I'll ever buy the party pack as it stands in its current price - but if it was significantly cheaper I'd strongly consider it.
Not sure about the latest one - and don't even get me started on the 30 day jet pack
