Just a quick couple questions:
Does Power Boost boost both auras?
If it does boost both auras, does the boost apply to the entire duration of the RA's or just until the duration of the boost itself wears off? -
I find that most Controllers who pair with /Emp doesn't heal very well. Of course, I'm not saying all Emp Controllers suck, cause I'm sure there are those who can actually manage all their powers. However, the majority of them have too much on their hands to actively use their heals.
Some grab aggro too much with their primary and has to worry about themselves most of the time. Yet, it works out because if they're doing a good job of controlling, they wont have to be healing the team as much. -
First time rolling an Empathy Defender in the past 3-4 years and boy is it tiring. Honestly, it feels more straining than any other powersets
...especially during low levels.
Have to either CM everyone or pay attention to anyone who got mezzed.
Have to keep Fortitude going on several different players.
Have to keep healing most of the times.
Have to gather the team or wait for an opportunity where everyone is grouped up for both RA auras.
This is the most workout I've gotten in a long time. It's fun when I have the energy for it though :] -
Good point guys. I'm now at level 14 with my Fire/Elec Scrapper and I'd have to admit, fire is pretty good single target damage. Also, Breath of Fire still blows...I'm going to get rid of there, unless someone here can convince me otherwise.
-
Honestly, that's the only reason why I'm not sure which set to go with.
-
Oh, sure. I turned all the graphics down just to see if it would fix it, but it didn't:

Any ideas on what's going on? It crashes randomly and an error report window pops up afterward. This happens about twice every hour, which is extremely frustrating.
Also, if anyone knows a fix to this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it! -
Good choice of secondary, you can't go wrong with regen.
-
I have a 50 Fire/Fire Tanker so I know what Fire Armor is like, pretty resilient and a strong/fast heal. However, I have no experience with Electric Armor what so ever.
Now, I have already made up my mind to use Fire Melee as a primary for my Scrapper, granted it being a little bit different compared to Fire Melee for Tanker, but it's still pretty similar.
Right now, I'm leaning in favor of Electric Armor because:
> It's new to me and playing something new should be more fun.
> Energize is a nice heal that heals for 50% (once slotted), same as Healing Flames AND it offers 200% regeneration (once slotted). As for the recharge, yea it's 40 seconds longer for the heal, but the 200% regeneration is pretty much always on.
> Lightning Reflex is a definite plus.
> Power Sink is great, but Fiery Armor has Consume as well.
> A much more useful Tier 9, Power Surge, compared to Rise of the Phoenix.
As for Fiery Armor:
> A strong, fast heal.
> Another "Build Up," Fiery Embrace.
I'm looking for inputs so any would be greatly helpful! -
Quote:If you want to hold aggro, roll an Ice Armor Tank, boy do they hold aggro. It's not really the easiest Tank for new players, and it is more fragile than other Tanks at lower levels. However, if you can stick with it, it's going to be an amazing Tank.but I want to play with others and make sure I can hold the agro rather easily.
As for secondaries...Tankers have pretty low base-damage, therefore they take forever to kill when you're soloing. If I have to decide, I would have to say Super Strength deals the most damage just because it has Rage, but there's also the Rage crash for you to get used to.
I would not recommend going with a Tanker if you want to be a damage dealer.
Edit: I also agree with the above posters on slotting with accuracy and endurance reduction as a priority for Tankers. Your damage is already pretty low, therefore your attacks are mainly for grabbing and holding aggro. You want to be able to land them in the first place in order to grab aggro. Endurance reduction is pretty self explanatory, unless you roll with a WP/ you will need at least 2 endurance reduction in everything, until you reach SO's. -
Quote:Seriously, it's expected for you to SB people unless they ask you NOT to. Why would you pick a /kin AND pick up Speed Boost if you're not going to use it?Hello there forums,
So lately I have been playing a Fire/Kin and teaming around. In the latest team (still in it as we speak) we sparked a mini argument about me SBing people.
My argument is that I refused to SB them unless they ask for it and say thank you afterwards. Both me and Shang stated how my using Speed Boost was a gift, not a necesity.
Their argument is that if I don't intend on using the power, why have it. Also that the stone tank (the one who was demanding the SB) would be able to play much better, as well as everyone else, because of it.
Of course I understand that Speed Boost is a big advantage for the team and stone tankers, what I don't understand is that just because it is a help hat it means manners must go out of the window. I didn't roll a /kin just to observe everyone's buffs to see when to give them one.
So what's your overall view on the matter?
Your argument is that you "refuse to SB them unless they ask for it and say thank you afterwards." Does a Tanker NOT use Taunt until his entire team is wiping and they'd have to ask him to Taunt and say thank you once he does his job? Does an EMP Defender not heal others unless he is asked to heal them and expects a thank you afterward?
People will say thank you if they feel like it. Sure, manners are nice, but it's not like they have bad manners if they don't say thank you =|. It's a lot of work to keep asking for and saying thank you whenever you want an SB, it's just that simple.
Again, it seems like you're nitpicking and you should just get over it and start SB-ing teammates since this is expected of you. -
-
Yup, Virtue still roleplays. It's die down a lot since 2 years ago but people still roleplay on there and I'm sure if you just keep broadcasting that you want to be in a roleplay SG, you'll find one.
-
Make sure when you add them, you're actually adding their global name. Just adding their current character name with a @ symbol in front of it will NOT add them as a global friend, unless their global is the same which is rarely the case.
There should be some sort of system message after you attempt to add someone to your global friends list. -
Just made this toon and it's currently sitting at level 11. It's really tons of fun...if you have a decent team.
You can get all 4 of your AoE's by the time you reach level 10 and it's just massive chaos. Just thought I'd post cause I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Anyone else in love with this combo?
Also, is it still as fun later down the line? Right now the mobs still have pretty low HP and pretty much no resistance, but I'm just afraid they may resist too much later down the line for the mediocre-damage AoE's to be of any use. -
Glad to see most Tankers do get Tough. For some reason, I just don't feel like Weave is really all that important to me. I usually get Tough and stop there...never really bothered with the extra 5% defense that Weave offers and didn't need the extra endurance usage either.
-
Quote:Good call, I just checked them all in game myself and you're right, the other taunt auras are 400%.I really wanna know what's the justification behind WPs Taunt aura being only a 300% taunt rather than 400% like all the other Tank primaries?
Even if WP is OPed in terms of survivability, it shouldn't have anything to do with the strength of your taunt aura =/
I'd like to know the reason/s for this as well. -
I'm not home right now so can't look at the numbers. If someone can tell me it'd be great! I do know that both Fire and Radiation Blast has 3 AoE's each, but not sure how they compare to one another.
-
If you're on the US servers, pick either Freedom or Virtue, they are the 2 most populated servers at the moment. Sadly, the other servers are starting to die down...
-
I use Q and W for left and right strafe.
I use A for forward and Z for backward.
I use mouse for camera control.
I don't bother with a key for flying down, since I just look down or de-toggle flight to "fly down."
The entire left side of my keyboard are all shortcuts/macros for key powers.
I use the number bar to activate powers as well as control and alt + # for the 2nd and 3rd hotbar. However, I don't go beyond 5 since I'd be reaching too much so I just click for powers that has to be in slot 6 and so on.
My movements are setup with the non-traditional W, Q, A, Z because Descent was the first game I've ever played and the default movement keys was such.
Just in my own experience, I can't get used to looking with the arrow keys simply because I can't move the camera and/or my character instantly that way, and the whole panning thing makes me dizzy. -
I know what people are slotting because I ask them. Especially when I was new to IO's, since I want to know what others are doing and their logic behind it. Of course, it's their build and I'm not saying it's a stupid idea or anything. Just wondering if there was another reason behind it or if I'm missing out on something I didn't know of.
-
Normally I would ask this in the Defenders forum but there's barely any people there and I usually get better replies here.
So, what should it be? I'm trying to go all support and I'll mostly be teaming. I know I'm not looking for a DPS secondary, since I don't care about damage this time.
I was thinking Dark Blast, for the accuracy debuffs and some controls to help the team out. What do you guys think? -
I definitely agree with the bump up from 10 to 16 targets. All other Blaster nukes hit a maximum of 16 targets...so why not FA? It's already sub par in every other aspects, including the fact that it deals lethal damage, which is mostly resisted.
-
Very few IO's out there requires you to slot its entire set to gain its full benefits.
For example, let's take a look at the Armageddon set. The furthest you'd want to go with this set is 5 IO's. Why? Simply because having 5 gives you the +10% Recharge Time. Yet, I still see a ton of people saving money for a 6th...for what? A 5% resistance to Toxic damage? Not only is Toxic damage pretty rare to encounter, it's hard to stack it with other IO set bonuses because only few offers Toxic resistance. What you should do here is just slot for 5 Armageddon and put either an Accuracy or EnduranceRed in the last slot, because the Armageddon set lacks Accuracy and Endurance Discount.
Of course, there are a bunch of other IO's that are only useful up to their 3rd or 4th slots as well, so there's really no point in wasting 2 or even 3 more slots to complete the entire IO set.
Another thing to note is the actual stats of your power, which to me is the MOST important thing when it comes to slotting your powers(obviously). There's no point in going for a global recharge of +30% if all your powers are only slotted for +33% recharge. Sure, the global recharge of +30% would then put your powers at +63% recharge but you could've easily slotted these powers with 1 recharge SO each and be at the same value. This is just an example, I'm not just talking about +recharge bonuses for IO's, I'm saying that you should keep your stats in mind when you slot them for IO's.
It's usually best to slot your powers with some SO's or common IO's to fill in the gap in stats that the set IO's couldn't cover. Sometimes, HO's would be perfect for this as well.
I guess what I'm asking here is, am I missing anything? Is there a reason why some people just slot ALL their powers with a full of set IO's? -
Good point, I forgot to mention that Archery gets Aim...which effectively boosts the damage of Rain of Arrows as well as its accuracy. More reason to buff FA!
