I went /Stone on my Elec tank, and it seemed to do a lot of good. Fair damage with KD/Stun mitigation. Of course, I had huge HP bonuses and 30% def to S/L, so my view could be skewed.

I know the icons for the different loyalties were announced, but I can't seem to find the link for it. My search foo also appears to be incredibly weak. Does anyone know where that thread is?

Someone better let tell all those Ice Tanks out there running high level TFs successfully before they go out there again! We got someone's opinion!
-

Yeah, it's been done by everyone and their dog, but I figured, "What the hell. Why not?"
Do I get into the Ebil Club, now? Or do I need to punch a kitten?

More specifically, why do their Shadow Fall animations display the Leather Straps texture in their animation as seen here:

I haven't messed with any of the in-game files, so I'm not sure why this shows up differently for me than for my friends (I asked them if they had this problem). It's not game breaking, but it looks ugly. Any ideas? -
Quote:While you may choose Ice over Inv, it's only a preference. For you, Invulnerable is "better" because maybe when you play Ice (and this in no way should be taken as an insult), you suck (relative to your Inv. performance). But for others, it could be the other way around. I for one, have not been able to see the performance in my Inv that I did in my Ice. But like you said here:I don't think I'd go so far as to claim that; I think some primaries are definitely better at Tanking than others. (If I had to choose between Invuln and Ice, for example, I'd say Invuln is "better.") Having said that...
Quote:I absolutely believe that someone who takes a primary and knows how to use it well will be a better tank than one who just picks "the best" powerset and completely leans on it for success. To use the above as an example, I'd take a good player using Ice Armor over a bad player in Invuln any day. -

I'm not entirely sold on the new UI, but it does have some benefits. If we could keep some of the new things and restore some of the old, that would be great.
New thing I like:
Enhancements > Crafted now allows me to find a particular crafted enhancement in a set, rather than only seeing all the enhancements from that set. For example, if I go to Enh > Crafted > Melee Dmg > Mako's then I can select the quadruple from there and only see those listed, rather than all the Mako's. Please, keep this feature.
Old thing I liked better:
Typing part of a salvage piece name, then clicking on Salvage and having only salvage pieces that match what I typed pop up. Now, if I type "psi" and click on Salvage, it doesn't single out salvage only. And I don't want to use the autofill feature either, because it doesn't make my search faster. So what do you say devs, can we bring that part back? -
We just need to sticky a thread that explains:
There is NO ONE tanker primary that is best for tanking.
This question comes up once a week, OP, so don't think this response is aimed at you. You see, no one tank is superior to any other. Yes, Granite Armor on Stone is the easiest to learn to use, but it has its shortcomings as well as any other Tanker primary. It all boils down to play style and the dynamics of your teams, as well as the situation your team is in. If you can learn to adapt to these things with the primary you're using, then it's doing the best job. -
Quote:Though it's probably pointless to respond to the OP at this point, since he hasn't bothered to comment since page 1:@Dechs
Though i disagree with a lot of what you pasted at least you've given the subject some thought.
Could you bother explaining WHY you disagree with all those extremely valid points? If you're going to insist that there's good reason to merge servers, you'll have to do more to shoot down the good reasons NOT to merge servers. A simple, "Mmmm, I disagree," doesn't cut it.
Also, if you could bother explaining to what depths you tried to find other players on the server you were on, that would also shed some light on your experience. Right now, it seems like you looked around some empty spots in certain zones, and decided no one was on. This, as pointed out earlier, is bad logic.
Please keep in mind that nearly all content in the game is played in instanced maps. And with the proliferation of travel abilities in the game [i.e. Travel powers from Safegaurds/Mayhems, Buying jetpacks in Grandville/Shadow Shard, team recall veteran power, mission teleport bonus pack power, Ouroboros portals, Pocket D portals, SG base teleporters, etc. etc.], travel time in zones has been reduced dramatically. So yeah, city zones will have the appearance of being "dead." Seriously, put some more effort into forming your own teams through the search function (or ask to join others). It works. -
Yes, please leave out all good reasons why this idea is a bad idea. Otherwise, his poorly thought idea won't sound as good. How dare you bring in counterpoints!!
Seriously, allowing people to keep badges on level 1 toons would be overpowering. And just because you claim you don't go for accolades (which even if you didn't, you'd have them by default if you're going for badges) does not mean everyone out there is the same. People would certainly exploit this to have accolades at early levels.
No. No. No. And again, NO! The devs have said it won't happen. Get over it. If you absolutely don't want to get badges over and over again, then do the most obvious thing you should be doing: STOP GETTING BADGES IF YOU HATE TO DO IT SO MUCH.
Hear are your tissues. Cry less plz. -
Quote:Wooo... sorry for the long delay in response. Yes, I used the global handle name. With the "@". I do have my global in my sig (points down). I've already used the email system before, so I know it can work. I also petitioned it and got a response stating that the global channel issues are a strong reason why I haven't seen the emails pop up.Stupid question, but did you remember to put @ in front of the global handle? Also, did any of your characters receive the email? If you're sending to your own global, all your characters, including the character you sent it from, will receive the e-mail (though only characters of the same faction as the sender can claim any attachments).
I was also told that once the global channel issues were fixed, the emails should show up. While they haven't yet, I'm hoping they will soon. And not Soon (TM). -
I wish I could make a more helpful comment, but I don't know what may be causing the issue for you. I just wanted to say:
lolz winamp. -
Quote:Nope, the body text only contained three letters: inf. I don't tend to get long-winded when I send myself money.Oops, This is an edited post since Father Xmas pointed out I got "Email down" mixed up with "Market down".
There is a known issue with the Email client. On Test, there is a patch to fix it. The patch note says:Global Email
So, could that be the source of your problem?
Fixed a bug that would delete anything sent as an attachment if there was a double quote () in the body of the email.
Anyway, send a /petition in to get your inf back. -
I sent a rather large sum of influence to myself in game (to my global), and have not recieved the transfer. I thought maybe I could have typed the wrong global (though I would have been surprised that a typo would turn out to be someone else) so I tested sending just 1 million through the email system. Again, it did not show up.
To clarify, I have no emails sitting in my inbox, so there's no reason they shouldn't be showing. Has anyone else had trouble with this? I sent a petition, so hopefully I won't lose all the influence I sent. -
How about some still shots of resistance/loyalist/Praetorean AVs to help us make our images? Or did I miss a link with some good options to pull from?
-
So long as the risk/cost for crafting a random recipe is high enough, sure. I would say something like 8-10 rare salvage within the same level range could be considered costly enough. No?
-
Quote:If they were "junk IOs," then it's not like the player who slotted them is going to sell them for much anyhow. In fact, they could just get as much from the influence given when you burn an enhancement from a respec.I guess all those new people(with a junk IOd out toon) that the devs want to keep bringing back, that want to respec, are **** out of luck
The devs have stated we're lucky to keep ten. If you make mistakes in your build by blowing your influence on IOs you didn't end up liking, then consider it a learning experience. And I'm speaking as someone who made plenty of poor choices on his first IO build. -
Quote:So, with SOs running near ED, that would be:Tier 1: Carapace
Type: Toggle, 0.2 end/second
Resistance: 25% Resistance to Smashing/Lethal, 20% Resistance to Toxic Damage
Tier 2: Bone Shards
Type: DoT aggro toggle, 2.0 end/second
Damage: 6 Lethal damage, 2.3 Toxic Damage per tic. (or whatever damage normal tanker aggro auras do)
Secondary Effects: 40% chance for 25% recharge and movement penalty to those hit.
Tier 3: Marrow Coating
Type: Toggle, 0.2 end/second
Resistance: 30% to Neg. Energy, 15% to Fire/Cold/Energy/Toxic
Tier 4: Internal Plating
Type: Toggle, 0.2 end/sec
Resistance: 12 Mag protection against effects listed above
Regen: +200% (enhanceable)
Tier 5: Bone Plates
Type: Toggle, 0.2 end/second
Resistance: Somewhat opposite of SR's scaling resistance. The more health you have, the better these protect you. The worse off you are, the less these help. Not sure on exact numbers.
Tier 6: Calcify
Type: Click, 13 endurance cost
Effect: Self +Heal, +HP (Dull Pain Clone, minus the Toxic Resistance)
Tier 7: Bone Cage
Type: Click
Effect: Same as Hibernation, however, because you can get it earlier, and because of how it would affect other powers in the set (you already have increased regen, and because of Bone Plates) this would be on a MUCH longer recharge).
Tier 8:
Retributive Shatter
Type: Not sure on this, because a passive might not work with the tier 9 almost killing you, and I don't want it to be able to work with Self Destruct. But it should be on the rest of the time for free.
Effect: Damage similar to Soul Drain, but activated upon death automatically, and does not Rez you.
Tier 9: Avatar of Bones
Type: Click with crash
Effects: Similar to, but less effective than, Unstoppable. Gives you 40% Resistance to Smashing, Lethal, Negative Energy, Energy, Toxic and Psychic Damage, but only 10-15% Resistance to Fire and Cold Damage. 90% heath and full endurance crash at the end of the power, on a 1000 second, unenhanceable.
S/L Resist - ~40% (take Tough for 60%)
Neg Resist - ~47%
E/F/C Resist - ~23%
Toxic Resist - ~63%
Internal should maybe offer some Psi if it's increasing your cranium density.
These numbers seem a little low for the recharge the heal has. Yes, there's a 200% regen rate being added, but IMO, that's not a lot. So with that in mind, I think Bone Cage should not be handled as a phase power. You should be touchable, but I think during this time you are capped for resist and soft capped for defense. This should off set the lack low resist values of the set. I also thing Energy should have the same resist values.
Change the heal to a Healing Flames clone, but make it heal only, no resist features.
I like the idea of a death power. It's unique and new to the game. It should be an auto power, and it should have a cool down period so that it's not exploitable.
How about a twist on Tier 9 crashing:
Bone Avatar:
You focus all your power into creating a suit of bone armor, turning you into a bone giant. Your temporary size increase extends your range and damage, while increasing your overall resistance. This focus can only be held so long before it drains you completely.
Graphically, this gets the Granite treatment (but with bones, of course - and give different bone armor looks to choose from). The visual increase in size justifies the increase in range.
Timed Toggle: 1 min. The longer you run the toggle, the more health/crash you receive. A full minute takes you to 90% crash on end/hp. Seconds 1-15 will be the minimum crash amount of 25%.
Range increase: 20% (unenhanceable)
Damage increase: 50% (unenhanceable)
+HP: 30% (enhanceable)
Recharge: 4 mins. (enhanceable)
The numbers for this might need changing, I don't do numbers enough to know if that would be too overpowered or not (or underpowered). I like the idea of being able to increase your melee range, giving the tank a unique ability to control melee aggro in a wider area. -
Quote:Yes, but can you list any cool new features?I'm not sure what exactly is overwhelming. A complete graphics overhaul, four new story arcs (which introduce a lot of new elements to the game, including branching dialog, contacts with entire different dialog tracks based on your character's sex, moving some major storylines forward, and of course, the doppleganger system, which introduces a whole new set of possibilities to the game), fixing the long needed Positron Taskforce, a new power set for GR preorders, new exploration badges, and a bunch of much needed QoL fixes, including fixing the market, allowing people to give items and influence to their other characters and offline friends, upping the mission count, and adding the ability to find that pesky last "missing objective."
This is one of the best all-around issues I've seen in the 3 years I've been on CoX -
Quote:As someone that played out his toons all the way to 50 before ever getting a VEAT or HEAT (without PLing), I completely support the change to the requirements. The less incentive we give new players to PL to 50, the better. How many times do we (the collective community) complain about inexperienced level 50s running around the game? One of the reasons people would PL to 50 was just to unlock Epics. I'd rather they get there because they were having fun and learning how to play their alt.I worked my butt off getting to 50 on both red and blue side in order to unlock ATs. Now everyone new to the game gets them at 20, with barely any effort?
It sucks.
On the other hand though, people are PLing so much these days that most of them were getting ATs unlocked pretty quick anyway. -
Don't get me wrong, I'd like DN or an AoE Immob. But I don't think APPs and PPPs will get straight ported to other ATs. But we can petition for a DN containing PPP for tanks, right!?
-
Actually, given Castle's answer, you could be jumping to conclusions. While you could pick up a Patron Power set with your tank, there's nothing to say you're getting Patron sets now in existence. While similar in some regards, villain AT's are not mirrors for hero AT's, and so, can't be properly matched up for APPs and PPP's.
Yeah, a Brute is close to a tank, but would a Corruptor be likened to a Blaster or a Defender? Who's PPPs would they get?
There might be all new PPPs made for hero ATs as far as we know.
