Willpower/Dark: Too much Defense?
you do realize how much those pvp sets would cost u right?
I just don't think you can perma haste/soul drain a WP/DM tank, and still cap S/L. The other issue with WP is the weak taunt aura, so its always best to slot in 2 x taunt IOs into RttC. This is my tank's current build (well almost, just short of a few recipes here and there). I scrapped haste, and instead concentrated on +dmg%, +recovery and Def. It's not HP capped, but it has a decent regen, capped S/L, and is a damn sight easier to get the items, not to mention, vastly cheaper:

1) After reviewing, my build looks like it might have endurance problems. Does your build? If you do, with Quick Recovery, Stamina, and Physical Perfection, then I most certainly will.
2) How does your tank stand up to most content? What about content set to +4 Enemies x8 People? Have you ever tanked Lord Recluse in the Statesman Task Force without outside buffs?
3) I think I get all of the things in your build...but what is with the Immobilize/Endurance in Midnight Grasp? Couldn't you slot a regular Endurance IO, or is the Immobilize important?
Favorite Hero: Computer (Empathy/Energy Blast Defender)
Favorite Villain: Gimp Computer (Fire Control/Psionic Assault Dominator)

Shoot, I totally forgot about Rise to the Challenge's weak taunt aura. Thanks for pointing that out. I might be able to squeeze one taunt in there without disrupting the build much. Do I need two, or will just one help?
I already have all of the PvP IOs I would need for this build. I do have a couple questions about your build. 1) After reviewing, my build looks like it might have endurance problems. Does your build? If you do, with Quick Recovery, Stamina, and Physical Perfection, then I most certainly will. 2) How does your tank stand up to most content? 2. My tank does pretty well soloing most stuff at +2/x8, even Malta (if I get the Sappers first - which I set my TAB keybind for). Not tried +4 yet though, although I did manage to solo Tyrant as a lvl 50 EB @ lvl 46 (so not even had 80% of my sets) - took about 15mins coz of lack of dmg output,oh and I could tank Kronos till the cows came home, without outside buffs - couldn't make a dent in his HP tho . Not tried LR
3. I just dumped that in there just to increase immobilize duration just as a little aid for when soloing certain mobs that like to run off a lot - like spectral demons

Repeat Offenders forever !
Make all IO's available in Paragon Market! NCSoft, the chinese are making BIG money selling influence and other stuff in the game. Best way to stop them = make the paragon market a place to buy all IO's and perhaps other things as well.
I spent quite some time tweaking my build, to see if I could get some more damage output without losing any of the other bonuses and came up with this:

Badging in a PvP zone?
If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.
This is an enjoy-the-ride game. "50" is only a number, not the goal of the game. - Noxilicious
Scene, IMO, you've still given up too much attack slotting for bonuses. This is compounded by the fact that some of the sets you are using give primarily positional defense bonuses rather than typed, which means you are using more slots than you need to get bonuses you need.
With some slotting changes, this is what I came up with. The S/L def is the same, recharge is a little lower, but regen, recovery, HP are slightly better and E/NE defense and damage slotting is much better. Granted, the Kinetic Combat sets will not be cheap, but last time I looked full sets of ToD and Obliteration weren't cheap either.

My Characters
Knight Court--A CoH Story Complete 2/3/2012
NO tank in this game can solo LR in STF without outside buffs or good insps management. His Acc, dmg, and speed boost are overwhelming. It is so by game design.
|
I also just recently was on a Master of the Statesman Taskforce where our tank was an SOed Invuln/Super Strength. All he needed was a powerboosted Fortitude and Adrenaline Boost and he could stand there all day spamming Taunt. His defense and resistance to smashing and lethal damage were only slightly more than what I am getting in my build (Differences are 8% and 18% respectively) and I have 350ish more Hit Points than he did. His regeneration was significantly higher than mine; however, I don't exactly know how much 600% more regeneration will affect the situation. I also am unsure how to calculate the impact Siphon Life will have.
Favorite Hero: Computer (Empathy/Energy Blast Defender)
Favorite Villain: Gimp Computer (Fire Control/Psionic Assault Dominator)
I have been pondering changing the slotting in Tough.
Do you think it would be worth it to take out the three Aegis's and instead put in Reactive Armor (Endurance/Resistance, Endurance/Recharge, Endurance)?
Basically it would be trading in 3% Fire/Cold Defense for 1% Energy/Negative Defense. Due to the fact that many times Energy attacks carry -defense, I am leaning towards it being worth it. Any thoughts?

My Stone/Stone Tank has solo tanked him and an army of his spawned bosses before, but that was a while ago.

Repeat Offenders forever !
Make all IO's available in Paragon Market! NCSoft, the chinese are making BIG money selling influence and other stuff in the game. Best way to stop them = make the paragon market a place to buy all IO's and perhaps other things as well.
That's exactly my point. No tank, no powerset, can tank LR in STF without help, buffs or insps management. What you said of 'only needed PB fortitude and AB is an inmense deal.

A) An Invuln + Buffs can tank Lord Recluse
B) My Willpower gets similar numbers to an Invuln + Buffs
C) My Willpower can tank Lord Recluse
At least that is what I see on paper.
My Stone/Stone tank did solo tank Recluse at one point. Since you're confident he can't now, something must have changed. I can't find out what has changed (though I must admit my search fu=teh suck) however I am curious. What outside buffs would our Stone/Stone tanks need to stand up to Lord Recluse (Assuming the Stone/Stone is using SOs)?

hey there, i stumbled accoss this build and thought it looked pretty decent for a soloing build... anyway my question is, could u provide maybe a Solo build like one for those of us who don't have large wads of INF to blow in set bonuses?

yeah, umm that still has set items, i'm talking like starter enhancements or DO enhancements, i mean its not like i'll have those lvling up, just like some sort of plan to slot them to get the most as i solo.
Contact me in-game: @CheeseSlicer
i'm should be more clearer, what i'm after is a slotting guide, i found this build and i'm currently lvl 6 or something, what i'm after is what i should do between now and 50, tbh, i'm just after a decent build that will get my to 20 asap, and dark/willpower looks like fun.
i mean, we ain't gonna be magically starting at 50 with billions of INF so we can get these awesome oranges, but then, its my fault for not making my point clear :P
What I'd suggest for a character that is levelling up on a budget but wants to get the most out of their character from 1-47 (I say 1-47, because when you reach 47 you can start respecing for lvl 50 IOs and set bonuses that you want) is Frankenslotting. Frankenslotting involves mixing up some IOs to get the same effect as SOs while using less slots to do so. The general rule of Frankenslotting is to buy the cheaper IOs, and not worry so much about set bonuses. Whatever bonuses you get at the lower and middle levels are just that, an added bonus. You're probably best starting this process in your mid-twenties.
Here's a Wiki page all about Frankenslotting, and how it works: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Frankenslotting
Contact me in-game: @CheeseSlicer
just to note, if you do stick with SO's, their % bonus gets overtaken by IOs after lvl 35, so you'll be wanting to swap to IOs at lvl 37. I kept my tank on an SO/IO build all the way to lvl 47 (with the exception of some of the lower lvl sets - when I could afford them), and she faired quite well with them.

I'll try not to ramble. I want to create the toughest Willpower Tank that I can. In my search I paired it with Dark Melee and started building it to hit Defensive and Offensive benchmarks. These, in order, are:
1) Capped Hit Points
2) Capped Defense to Lethal/Energy (Due to the fact that -defense powers are usually Lethal or Energy Based)
3) Capped Defense to Smashing/Negative/Fire/Cold
4) Perma Soul Drain
5) Perma Hasten
6) Accuracy/Damage/etc. needed in order to outweigh the lack of enhancement benefits to powers (ex. Boxing/Shadow Punch/Smite)
Obviously I wasn't able to fit all of these in my build so this is how it ended up.

My two questions for tanker forum tank building masters are:
1) Have I gone overboard in the search for the toughest Willpower Tanker and acquired defense that I just won't need?
2) Are there any general improvements or problems that I am missing that you can see in my build?
Thanks in advance for any and all comments.
