  2. Remember that Hero=Resistance and Villain=Loyalist.

It doesn't matter what faction your ex-Praetorian is; any Hero can enter the Resistance-only places, and any Villain can enter the Loyalist-Only ones.

I have a crazy theory about that, but... I'm not entirely sure that it IS crazy.

First, "regulating" something doesn't mean to stop it - it means that an upper limit is applied. A regulator in your vehicle limits the maximum speed, a regulator on a pipeline limits the maximum flow, and a Regulator sets a limit on the amount Superadine that gets onto the streets.

In most cases, the Primal and Praetorian versions of a person have nearly parallel motives and methods. Marauder maintains several Fixadine labs, while working to shut down the ones he doesn't personally control. Marcus Cole knows all about Marauder's 'dyne labs, and gives him the resources to keep them secret, including a cover provided by taking down "unauthorized" 'dyne labs.

I've suspected for a while now that Brawler and the Regulators are in control of some part of the 'dyne trade in Paragon City. Whether it's for a reason similar to Marauder's - "I have to keep some going, because if I shut it down, all my boys will die from withdrawl" - or if he has some other reason, I don't know.
  4. Correct. And the enhancement values will be close to those of level 50s (if not equal).

Note that it can be harder to find enhancements that aren't at the top of their level range. I tend to pay extra on the Auction House to get my level 25s, and I often have to use Merits to create the recipes I want, because the supply is low to non-existant.
  5. I'm not sure I'd mix and match the levels. That would make your set bonuses rather difficult to predict which you'd keep when exemplaring.

Personally, I always slot Level 25s. I rarely exemplar low enough to lose those bonuses, and I'm still getting roughly the equivalent of SOs for enhancement values.
My goal is to keep all my set bonuses as close to all the time as possible. I only use a mix of levels when the set I'm using doesn't provide enough enhancement. For example, four Kinetic Combats has some incredible set bonuses, but the enhancement values aren't great, especially at level 25. I'll slot a couple level 50 triples or quads (usually Crushing Impact or Mako's Bite) to improve the slotting. For these latter ones, I don't care about the set bonuses at all.

Other people slot in the 30-35 range. This gives them noticeably better than SO enhancements, and they still rarely lose set bonuses. Note that somewhere in this range, boosting an enhancement to +5 makes it equivalent to a level 50 enhancement. Boosting an enhancement doesn't change its level, so it will still count as its base level with regards to set bonuses and exemplaring.
  6. Enhancement boosters don't change the level of the enhancements, so the set bonuses will be affected by exemplaring exactly as if the enhancements are unboosted.

To simplify what's been said above: The effects of exemplaring only looks at individual enhancements if that enhancement gives a very large or very small bonus. If the bonuses are "normal" (ie, not significantly more than an SO), then the effects are based only on the total enhancement values.

The values you gave are roughly equal to 1 Acc, 1 Rech, 1 EndRed, and 3 Dam SOs. Their numbers will be reduced when you exemplar, but will still give the same values as if you had the same SOs slotted when exemplaring.
  7. StarGeek's answer is correct, but incomplete; it only covers the enhancement aspect of your enhancements. For sets, there's a little more to it.

Set bonuses are retained so long as you don't exemplar more than 3 levels below the levels of the enhancements. In your example with all level 50 enhancements, you could exemplar as low as level 47 and keep your set bonuses. Exemplar to 46 or lower and the set bonuses will all vanish.
If you mix the levels of the enhancements, they individually stop counting as you exemplar too low. For example, with 5 level 25 and one level 50, you would have all 6 set bonuses at levels 47-50, 5 pieces from level 22-46, and no set bonuses from 1-21.
The enhancement values scale down as per StarGeek's explanation.
Set pieces with special always-on bonuses (such as the Luck of the Gambler Global Recharge, or the Steadfast Protection Defense bonus) function just like set bonuses. You keep the bonus until you exemplar more that 3 levels below the enhancement. If it stops counting for set bonuses, it stops providing its special bonus too.
Pieces with procs (Chance for X) or use-activated bonuses (X bonus for 120s after using the power this enhancement is slotted in) will function at any level. Of course, since you have to activate the power they're slotted in to trigger them, if you exemplar low enough to lose the power they're in, you also lose access to the special enhancement.

Purple enhancements (including Catalyzed ATOs) and PVP IOs never lose their set bonuses or special effects when exemplaring; they remain all the way down to level 1. The enhancement values still scale down as StarGeek explained.

Attuned enhancements (Store Bought sets, ATOs, and the new set from the summer event) level up with you. When you exemplar, they are still treated as the same level as your REAL level, and then scale down to your exemplar level. Their set bonuses are retained at any level down to the minimum level for the set-3. So, if you have a set of attuned Luck of the Gambler (level 25-50), you keep the set bonuses and the Global Recharge boost all the way down to 22.

I'm pretty sure all of this is explained in the page StarGeek linked, but I thought I'd add it, just in case you're somewhere where that site might be blocked (ie, posting from work).

    Bind question

If you screw up one of your keys, remember that you can use the /unbind command to set it back to the default value. I often find that helpful when binding basic function keys, like the arrows, F-keys, etc.

Because the options saved via /optionsave and the graphics settings are two different groups of options, saved in different places.

The majority of options are set on a per-character basis, and are stored on the game server in your character's file.

The graphics settings are stored in your computer's registry, and are the same for anyone using that computer, regardless of the character, or even account, they are using.

If you log into your account on a different computer, it will load the graphics settings on THAT computer, not the graphics options you normally use.

There's three reasons I can think of for this:
1- It's a reasonable assumption that most people aren't going to have any reason to frequently change their graphics settings on a single computer.
2- If graphics are stored on a per-character basis, and you normally use a high-end computer, then move to a low-end one, loading your character could crash the game before you even log in. The new ability to adjust graphics before you log in helps alleviate this, but doesn't prevent it.
3- The graphics settings need to be loaded as the program loads, for the reasons stated in 2 above.

Theoretically, they could save and load them in a separate batch via a new command, like /gfxsave or something similar, but it wouldn't be useful for most players; really, only those at or below the minimum system requirements are going to notice that kind of fluctuation. While they might, I can't see the devs spending time on a feature like this.

Not to say I don't support it. Before my recent upgrade, I couldn't play Dark armor without gutting a number of my settings. If I could have made a bind or macro to automate the process, I would have done so. Since I couldn't, I just didn't play DA until recently.

To get around these you need to printscreen and then paste into another program. (I use Irfanview). It might help if you are in windowed mode or have alt-tabbed so that the game is being treated as another window.
    Just for clarity:
Any screen that uses a full-screen UI cannot be captured by CoH's built-in screenshot function. This includes, but is not limited to, The login screen, the server and character select screens, the character creation screen, and the tailor. Basically, if you can access the chat box, you can take a screenshot. If you CAN'T access the chat box, you need to use your OS or a third-party screen capture software.

    Did I miss anything?
Since nobody mentioned it yet: City of Heroes seems to have an issue with some keys on 88-key keyboards (ie, laptops with no number pad). I have never used a laptop where CoH recognized the backslash key for keybinds; it typed the right character into the chat box, but if I went into the keybinds menu, it registered as ] . I've also had at least one laptop that refused to acknowledge the PrtScreen button inside CoH. That particular laptop had no F1, F2, etc keys; I used them by pressing Fn+1, Fn+2, etc.
If you are using a laptop, and your keyboard has no numberpad, and DOES have a Fn key, go into the keybind menu, and bind a new key to the function you want. It may help.
  11. 1- so you want to convert your Kinetic Weapon into a Clockwork Winder, or your Military Cybernetic to a Mutant DNA Sample, or your Psionic Manifestation to an Inanimate Carbon Rod? No thanks, that would would just be weird, and it's bad enough that we do that with Incarnate Salvage - though that has a Lore precedent when you take the Incarnate item from Trapdoor in Ramiel's arc.

2- We've (kinda) already got this. You can use AE tickets to get any salvage (at random for commons, or specific pieces for Uncommon/Rare). The only difference is that you have to earn the tickets; you can't trade in your unwanted salvage for more tickets.

What I'd rather see is new sets to fill in all the holes - there are still several categories that need more variety - and just make the recipes for these sets use mostly the "unwanted" salvage. After their release, we'll see a period of market turbulence where the junk adjusts to its new equilibrium price, and the new recipes find their spot, but once it settles, the salvage prices should be more balanced - if their usage is roughly balanced.
  12. My solutions for Stone Armor have always been:

1- Remove the -Runspeed from Granite and Rooted. These are remnants of the OLD days of MMOs, where developers had the idea that making travel slow made the game longer. We've long since moved away from this in most parts of the game, I see no reason to keep it here. Also, remove both of these from the Jumping and Running groups, so that you can turn on Combat Jumping, Super Jump and Super Speed while using them.

2- Remove the -Jump and -Fly from Rooted. Make parts of it suppress when off the ground, like how Grounded works. I'd say that the Regen and KB protection should suppress, but the rest remain.

3- Remove the -Jump from Granite. Add a -Jump Cap so that you can hop over that curb, but no matter how many Jump buffs you get, you will never be able to jump onto a building. Possibly add a -Run Cap as well, but not enough that it would slow fully slotted Sprint+Swift. IMO, the -Fly can stay in Granite.

This way, you keep the thematic slowing of the Stone Armor character, without crippling him in comparison to all of the other characters that can currently leave him miles behind almost instantly.

Pre-Freedom we at least had the illusion of variety blueside. Got sick of the contact missions in AP? Hop over to Galaxy City for a change of scenery.
We still have options - once we reach level 5. I usually just run over to where the Hellions spawn for Habashy's first mission - if you never talk to him, the Hellions never stop spawning. 10-15 minutes later, I'm level 5, and I can do Twinshot's arc (ew,no!), go to the Hollows and run those arcs (my usual preference), continue Habashy's contact chain, go to Kings Row and start running scanner missions, or speed through a few scanners to get one of the oldschool contacts. I could also head over to the AE building if none of those appealed to me. The railroading really isn't that bad.

They didn't discuss IO sets for changed powers, just new ones. So no idea if it will even take that set.

It's supposed to be coded like the Valentine's arrow temp, and if I understand how that works correctly, all the click power does is check if the target is an enemy or ally, and then calls a new power based on that result. If that's the case, all they'd have to do is leave Defense Debuff Sets off the list of IOs that the ally-affecting sub-power accepts, and it shouldn't have a chance to debuff friendly targets, just like how sets slotted in pets affect the pets' sub-powers.

If it doesn't work that way, expect the Achilles Heel proc to be modified the same way that the Endmod procs were (flagged to only hit friendlies or enemies, based on proc type).

Either way, it shouldn't be a problem for long, if it ever causes one at all.

People need to stop butt-pulling such figures like everyone and their dog can do so with ease.
With some of the AE exploits, these numbers are understated. I soloed an unslotted SS/Fire brute from 1-45 in about 3 hours using the Monkey farms. People with top end builds were PLing single teammates 1-50 in an hour or so, or an entire team in a 4-6 hours.

Of course, that's with exploits. Standard farming methods aren't as efficient. However, if you've got a top-end farmer in a custom-built map, and the character being powerleveled is making judicious use of XP Boosters, then I can see someone going 1-50 in 4 hours.

I wouldn't call it the norm by any stretch though.

I've done this before, but never stuck with it, because I have to pick a different name, and that annoys me - if it's the same character, they should be the same guy. I don't want He-Man, Battle Armor He-Man, Thunder-Punch He-Man, and so on. I'm not a fan of non-unique naming, but I would love it if the devs made it so that once you have a certain name, you can make as many characters (up to your server limit) with the same name.
  23. Hopeling and Klaw, note the comments about forums and game accounts being linked, and about not having the self-control to avoid logging in. It isn't the forums he's trying to break free from, but the game, and he's trying to get his forum account closed, thinking it will take the game account with it. Since many play the game without ever signing up on the forums, I don't know if that'll work, which is why I've given other suggestions.

Thank you and have a nice day.
I actually understand exactly where you are coming from. I have been the exact same way in the past, and even now am, to some extent.

Unfortunately, as I said above, nobody who reads this post is going to be able to do anything about it.

Go to the support site (I don't remember the address, but there's a huge "SUPPORT" button on the NCSoft website), and put in a ticket requesting that the account be locked. I really can't think of any other way that you might accomplish your goal.

Failing that, open a text editor and mash your keyboard. Select a string of about 10 chatacters and hit Ctrl+X. Then go to the Reset Password option for the game, and press Ctrl-V into each of the New Password fields. Do the same thing for your security questions and for your Master Account. Once you've finished, select a different block of text and copy that to the clipboard. Now, all your passwords are reset to a random, unknown string, and the only way to recover them involves a LOT of account verification over the phone.

None of this will stop you though. The forums will still be here, albeit read-only. The game will still be free to play, and a new account can be created in a matter of minutes, though installing the client is considerably slower.

If you feel the need to stop, then you need to stop yourself. Getting your account closed without solving your personal issues will just result in you either starting over, or getting just as involved in something else. Controlling yourself will allow you to continue enjoying your favorite passtimes. Cutting yourself off just makes you angry that you can't do something you enjoy.
