I've got a few villains with sympathetic pasts who try to be heroes when they can, even though they're stuck in such a bad situation.
On the other hand, one of my villains is a corporate punch-clock-hero who went full villain when he got fired. -

I have an Illusion/Force Field Controller whom I usually solo with. So, the only powers from the secondary that I use on a regular basis are Dispersion Bubble and Force Bolt. He solo's 3 +3 bosses just fine. And he's not even optimally built.
When I team using him, I tend to forget about the personal bubbles most of the time. Yet, the team hardly notices. Probably because Chaos, Mayhem, and Pandemonium are running around taking a lot of the aggro from the other squishies. Yes, I named the Phantom Army.
Would I be kicked from some of the previous posters' teams because I wasn't using my bubbles on them? Most likely, I would. Their loss, I say.
But for Defenders, buffing others is their main contribution to the team. Imagine the reaction if you'd skipped PA. -
And the emote only kicks in if you're not busy, I think.

...yeah, your goals are completely out of whack. This system seems to mean that farming and organised raiding will become mandatory. I'd quit.

Yeah, I'd rarely if ever slot for concept unless I wanted to focus on a particular special effect or proc.
Don't mind doing funny things with my little-used power pool powers though. -
I have a Kin/Rad defender who has a build that lacks Speed Boost. It's his solo build, and I need every solo-oriented power I can find.
But on a team? Switching right to my team build. I know how much a Kin can benefit me, and I could never in good conscience neglect to help my teammates with those powers when I can. -
They've been actively removing everything from the AE that ISN'T meant for its 'original purpose'.
Admit it, the 'original purpose' is not for you to farm. -
Use a stopwatch.

If you want to have a concept builds, go form your own team where ANY concept is allowed. I've heard hilarious stories about even newbies in the Hollows run screaming from those.

Solo is impossible, but I wonder what the minimum number of people to do a mothership raid is...

To be honest, I'd consider a bubbleless FF along the same lines as a Kin without speed boost, a buffless Emp, or a petless Mastermind; sure, do whatever you want on your own time and with whoever will put up with you, but you're basically gimped, not using the best powers your toon has, and if I can find a more competent player to fill your spot I'd gladly boot you.
I know we all like to say how we're wonderful flower children who accept every toon's personal choices, but seriously, at least show common sense. If the team's having trouble and you could help but aren't, it's a problem. -
And it doesn't look like you've ever posted here before, and you've had experiences with MMOs not known for friendly forums, so I'll let you know: here in Player Questions, every day is 'help a newb day'.

People crying "Think of the children" always target the most fun or easy targets, and miss dozens of things that might actually harm their sensitivities. That's why they deserve no regard.

As said, if you want a sewer team and all the existing leaders are being idiots, form your own and accept anyone. Show them how the game's meant to be played.
Besides, there's not much difference between the ATs at levels that low. -
Oh, and everyone's automatically Sidekicked now, level is near-irrelevant for teaming.

Levels matter even less than before now with the new Sidekick system. You can now team with literally anyone of any level across the entire game.

If the benefits are purely for your Supergroup- additional Prestige, base items etc- then I'd be all for this.
I don't know if the devs even acknowledge Supergroups and bases any more, though. -
This reminds me of my rant about how Going Rogue will kill every single archetype except Wolf Spiders.

Then again, escrima sticks have comic precedent, and if they could be reskinned into nunchucks... -
My female characters don't really have skimpy or tight outfits, except as a joke.
On the other hand, I have a tendency to make them rather overelaborate and frilly and cool looking. Then again I do that with all my costumes. -
