This is the part that has had me really confused, they are accusing you of not being able to do things on, or seemingly post a screenshot of a domi you haven't got and then because you didn't show the set bonus' on a different domi that somehow proves you don't know what you are talking about?

If you take all the insults out of this I see TBH saying his blaster can do x and Reppu saying a well played domi can do most of it better. He then backs it up with maths and as any good lawyer does THB goes on a character offensive instead of disproving the maths (And I am assuming Reppu is right on the maths, I haven't checked myself but gut instinct tells me he is right).

Just because Reppu doesn't have said domi, or doesn't enjoy doing the things the domi is capable of doesn't stop them being true. As for races, even if Reppu did have the toon then experience makes a huge difference to these things so the result wouldn't really matter anyway.

To be constructive: Create a new thread, use that to define the criteria that 'the one build' would have to fulfil (Which would include buffing, which the blaster cannot do), then make that build and see how good you can be with it.
  2. IF they were ever to do anything like this I think it should be an expansion of the TO/DO/SO system and make it possible to tie IO's to origin.

This wouldn't add new IO's but when you build an IO you can check the 'link to origin' box and it would give them a small % boost or small secondary effect that only applies to your origin powers (IE: Primary and secondary), but obviously be tied to origin so have a smaller market for selling.

I would hate to see new IO's tied to origin, I already dislike the ATIO's because it makes the choice of scrapper / brute more difficult.

The last time that came up, the Dev's basically said flat out, if we (the gamers) like SS as it is right now, then it must be left alone. If they look at SS and porting it, it would have to pass a balance pass, and Rage as we know it now, would certainly not pass a balance run. Therefore, if you love SS as it is now, do not ask them to port it. You won't like the outcome.
Do that many people actually like SS, or do they like how SS performs?

So, I'd suggest that if it takes you longer than 20 to 30 minutes (one must recruit to form a team, I would think) than you are pretty much wasting your time.
    Fun?

I personally can't stand speed running TF's just for the rewards, but then again I don't really like hitting a GM for 20 minutes (I have got them down 10% or so, which tells me I can do it, and then left), or farming madly to see how fast I can complete a tailor made map.

    Different strokes, different folks.

As for the Nictus I know there is some kind of trick to separating them, but I can't remember it. I am also sure it takes practice.
  6. I don't normally agree with much of what Reppu says, but he has been pretty much spot on in this thread.

Not much point adding anything constructive though, because it will surely be dismissed.

  8. In other MMO's the Defender could easily be paralleled to a healer, most of which tend to wear heavy armor types and are far from squishy.

The issue is that in other MMO's when the healer gets focussed on they have to heal themselves, they are not likely to die, but they stop being of much other use to the team for that time. Here if a Defender could take the hits there wouldn't be much stopping them from still doing whatever they were doing before getting aggro so giving them survivability is too much.

It might be a good idea to give defenders a 'switch' that changes them from 'help the team' mode to 'help themselves' mode. This could change their buff and attack modifiers and give some resist/defence so they essentially have to give up buffing in order to gain survivability and damage, but can then flip back to buffing once it is safe.

I didn't think that through though so as with most ideas I am not sure how it would apply to all defenders.

To stop abuse of the switch it could only be toggled into defence mode at a certain level of health (60% or such) and then only back on once above a different level. Or be given a fairly long timer if you do use it outside of these situations.

This is what I would use.

For damage I would make a brute, because fury affects the aura and Gloom is just that good.

But for survivability I would actually make a scrapper, aim for 32.5% to as many defences are you can get (You may only need s/l/e/n since fire is covered and you can probably leave a psi and cold hole) and use Shadow Meld to take alphas. With enough recharge it can be up for each mob more or less.

I should also note that ALL scrappers sets should have a taunt aura, it makes no sense that some don't and if Challenge was swapped for a taunt aura power I am sure most scrappers would rejoice!
  10. I am going to try using Energy Drain to counter the end loss, it is an interesting idea and would make my DB/EA capable of taking on pretty much anything

Still only level 12 at the moment though so results wont be quick

    This.

I have just started playing an Elec/Psi/Ice dom and you still get the melee experience (I have 1 proper ranged attack which is 2 less than my main scrapper!) but you have to adapt your playstyle significantly and it is a nice change of pace while still keeping that familiarity.

Edit: Though some people probably miss the unkillableness of being a brute or a scrapper more than the playstyle, so you could try an MM or a VEAT, both of which can still let you concentrate on killing while just relying on the fact you won't die.

Not sure how much faster you want.
Yeah one Static Field and my Elec/Psi/ice domi drains an entire spawn so I don't really know how you saw problems. Though you need to be up close for your aura to finish the job and keep their end away.

I even drained Siege the other night

The way I play my dom changes dramatically depending on what level I exemp to, low level it is all about end drain and Static Field, mid levels I get some more nice control powers, then high level I get the damage. But at all times mobs have zero endurance.

For those talking about powers that aren't electric control I have personally never seen it. If a mob isn't completely drained and prevented from recovering then they may as well have full endurance, so although powers like electric manipulation can drain a good amount of endurance it isn't usually enough to keep the mob from attacking. Also slotting for sapping on a blaster doesn't sit right with me, blasters have a hard enough time keeping up with scrappers as it is without spending precious time and slots trying to drain blue instead of green.
  13. I would think thematically -tohit is more appropriate because the enemy are under fire and can't aim properly, but that would step on Dark Blast's toes too much.
  14. I am not sure how many AV's have -def but I am partial to /NRG over /SR these days. It is very easy to softcap, and has its own inbuild powers to recover green and blue.

The AV soloer I am working on is a DB/Nrg, plenty of single target damage and room for 2 -res procs which I think are likely to make a big difference against AV's.

Dark/SR would of course be cheaper and able to start soloing AV's much easier if you are lacking funds.

Maybe true, I never actually looked much at the build, just noticed that swapping the alpha gave me a decent chunk of defence and that there was no Maneuvers, so there seemed to be plenty of wiggle room.

Unless the OP asks though I will take your word for it, and I am not saying yours was a bad build either.

Still I have never played MA or SR so it was just gut feeling that a different alpha could improve it. I always like Muscalature on my scrappers I must admit, kind of a badge of honor.
  17. Sorry I just checked this today but is there a reason for picking Spiritual instead of Agility? Also if you picked Cardiac you could probably drop Body Mastery which lets you pick up pools like Fire Mastery, and even if you don't want to use the fire powers they make great IO mules.

If you are not set on the alpha I can have a look at what I can do, but I would think Agility is the best choice for you? I hate seeting Red Fortune sets, it reminds me of the dark days before BoTZ.

My last question, if you want me to look at the build is what attack chain do you use? So I can look at dropping dam/rech IO's for pure damage ones etc.

Edit: On 2nd look Cardiac might make you able to take Maneuvers as well, so there are a lot of possibilities is the alpha is up for debate.

I cannot look until Tuesday next week though.

IIRC taunt is the only mechanic by which they can do this currently, but it wouldn't work well in practice due to taking aggro from the tank.

I bet Golden Girl is gloating over that one.
They also killed off the 4 faction idea quite quickly and everyone suddenly had to become anti-Cole.

Almost everything to do with Praetoria is 'a waste' not just this chaser.

    Sad.
When stuff spawns you can see the invaders but not target them for a few seconds, though they can be hit with AoE.

If they spawned properly so you could attack them as soon as the appeared people would likely be more careful with their targetting.

They should never again release a weapon set without a similar buff/debuff/manipulation set to match.
