  1. I would love an APP for Defenders/Corruptors that revolved around defense.

I've always thought about Ice, but Energy would also work (and ya, look a lot better on most toons)

Having to switch over to Villain (If your a Hero, which I usually am) in order to get Scorpion Shield is tedious to say the least, especially considering there are no alternatives.

    Burn these days?

Aye, it is a pretty good power now adays, worthy of a power choice.

Though the scrapper version tends to send mobs running, because most scrappers lack any sort of taunt aura, so the mob AI kicks into the "zomg, run away" mode.

Every major Roman victory from Carthage to Milvian Bridge and every defeat to the Sack of Rome has been studied, dissected, evaluated and synthesized countless times.
That's another huge advantage on the side of the Marines. They are likely to know the Roman War Machine like the back of their hand..

The Romans, on the other hand, have no such knowledge towards the Marines. Not to mention the weaponry is unlike anything they could probably comprehend.

The initial encounter(s) would go very poorly for the Romans.

Initial carnage will be heavy due to the interlocking shield tactics, which are just begging to be mowed down.
Exactly what I was thinking, especially in the initial encounters, where the Romans would have no idea what they were up against. They'd have a several hundred/(thousand??) yard gap to cover before they would be close enough to use their own weaponry.. That entire spread would be littered with dead soldiers, making the march slow and cumbersome.. All the while getting blown apart by bullet fire.. Their armor would be worthless, and actually slow them down (Though, the Romans would likely catch on to that and go in more lightly armored after a few encounters)

Plus I'm no military buff, but couldn't the marines kind of "Run and Gun"? Where as I'm pretty sure Roman archers had to remain pretty stationary while aiming and firing a bow.

The Roman position did not hold up well in battles of mobility, a battle the Marines definitely bring to the front.

    (As mentioned above, against Atilia)

That brings me to the American Civil War. Wasn't this exactly the problem in the Civil War? Modern weapons with old formation tactics. Heavy carnage. The problem there was that both sides had the weapons and the old tactics.
This was a definite case in World War I.
  5. I probably would have placed Sean Connery, Christopher Lee, and Patrick Stewart up higher.. Especially Patrick Stewart..

A shame really. I feel Enterprise got canceled just as it was starting to get pretty good.
  7. Not a terrible list, all things considered.

Though I would have stuck Married with Children in there somewhere.

Clearly this plotline was meant to be a cautionary "climate change in space" analogy.

This could lead to all sorts of dramas like various races either choosing to voluntarily cut back on warp travel or other races ignoring the warnings and causing all sorts of panic and/or fighting. Basically this could serve as a basis to "reboot" the future galaxy much the way you described.
Aye, I remember that episode, it was pretty good. That's when Starfleet put down a 'Speed Limit', so to speak (as higher warps were more destructive), of Warp 5, iirc, unless otherwise directed or under extreme emergencies.

One little segment of Trek history I've always wanted to see is the Earth-Romulan war.

Plus, you never know how your correction efforts might snowball if something goes wrong.

Oddly enough I just got done watching that episode a few weeks ago.

I got the impression that were able to discipline 'time travelers' if they ignored too many Starfleet regulations on time travel and such. Obviously, they overlooked Sisko shaking hands with Kirk, but if he went around trying to change history, then he' probably would of been court-martialed or something.

But then if Sisko did change history, and succeeded, then they would have never known, and Sisko could easily lie saying he didn't.. So who knows, the whole thing is obscure.

I do not think it's okay for someone who's spent billions of inf. softcapping a position (or even all three) and building up good resists to most damage to ever encounter a situation where they are just as survivable as Joe Blaster with an SO build. To me, it negates not only the hard work people have put into their builds... It contradicts the fundamentals of having archetypes in the first place.
Well it's not like Marauder spams Nova fist non stop, and the game gives you ample time to get the hell out of range. That single attack hardly nullifies entire IO builds, because they are still taking a lot less damage from his normal attacks, or whatever adds they might have aggrod onto them.

Ive run dozens of Lambdas with all sorts of toons, I think I've been hit by his Nova fist once when I wasn't paying attention.. It really isn't that difficult to dodge.

Keye's is a bit different, but even with a set HP drain, Tanks are still left with overall more numerical HP then what a Blaster is left with. Which makes a large difference (compounded by Tanker's other defense attributes) if they are in the midst of a battle.

  12. I am astonished that this topic is still thriving without being locked down after 17 pages.. Kudos to the CoH community for keeping it civil, even in such a controversial and touchy type of discussion.
  13. This reminds me of the old skirt bug that happened a few years ago.. And one day I ran into a dude who still had their bugged skirt-costume in play. They chose the slitted-sides, but due to the bug, the front and back of the skirt were slitted and it looked pretty cool.

I asked them about it and they said "ya, Ive been keeping this costume ever since the bug was fixed, but can never change it in the tailor xD"

Heh, oddly enough I've heard people spamming their "All female SG" over the channels before.. And until I read your post, I always thought they were just referring to the Avatar's gender.

The fact that they might have meant real-life gender really never crossed my mind until now.. They certainly did not make it clear in their ads.

That sounds good. Heal a nice chunk of HP, and give the user a good amount of regen over a duration.

IIRC, they do the least amount, because it uses their level for the damage calculations..

So if you use it on a Tier1 bot, it will do a lot less damage.. (as they will be -2 levels to you)

Assault Bot would do equal-level damage, but who would want to do that?

So the IO sets would increase the capabilities of the their various AT's Inherents? I do like that idea, a lot.

Though Tanker's and Defender's would need something a bit different, the +res works fine for Tankers. Defenders could get, +special maybe? kind of a mini Powerboost effect.
  19. They seem fair to me, I' definitely use the Corruptor one.

Though the Tanker one seems kind of.. lacking.. I'd personally rather they increased the HP bonus to something a bit less common/more substantial, say 2.25% and squeezed in some S/L defense in there, maybe instead of the damage bonus?

(Though that chance for +Res to All proc might be very powerful in an AoE)

That is an entirely different issue.. For starter's, no one in-game has to even know you're a female.

Now if they're harassing you because you're on a female toon, just /ignore them..

Making an female-only Server is taking it a bit overboard imo, and such a segregation is quite silly.. This isn't a gym, a sports team, or a locker room.. It's a video game.
  22. Well I imagine they *could* add fingers in without modifying the current skeleton, if they had them animate in unison.. So they'd still animate as a block, but be visible fingers..

Which is bound to look fairly goofy I'd imagine.. But don't certain SoA costumes have fingers that work like that?

Don't get upset with them though, get upset at all the sue-happy corporate *******.

    Yes, no, maybe?

And whenever a topic like this pops up, I can't help but brainstorm "okay, who would sound good with Christopher Lee's voice"..

Sure do like that man's voice xD
