With corrs (or their heroic counterparts: Defenders) I always seem to look to IO slot for recharge in set bonuses.
As far as which choice to go with? Sonic/Kin will be fast paced, living on a knife's edge, kinda play style, since you'll be reliant on heals (that need to hit) to survive. Should be exciting I'd say.
Sonic/Pain, honestly sounds like a sweet combination, thought my opinion of World of Pain is that, while it is a nice buff, isn't anything spectacular, so it wouldn't be the crutch you want. I love soothing aura though.
Sonic/Cold is completely devastating to all it encounters. Heat loss has a 6 minute recharge I believe...so huffing it out without stamina between recharges would be rough, unless you slot extensively for +end and +recovery IOs. So, it's possible, but getting to level 38 without it would be a struggle. The problem with this combo for soloing early on, is lack of any healing for yourself, and sonic's lack of doing anything but damage early on(very early on).
Anything you pick will be fun, but I can honestly say, I've vote for either sonic/pain or sonic/cold, since I never liked the feel of Kin (personal opinion!) (though fulcrum shift is sweeeeet).
If you do roll up a sonic/pain...tell me how it is, my only pain char is AR/Pain, and I can tell you, that combination is weird.
Anyway, I'm straying from the topic...I'd say pick one and have fun! and if you can get a team consistently...you're doing better than I ever do in Villains -

A large part of the fun factor in PvE is being able to collaborate to handle things that the individual players couldn't handle alone.
[/ QUOTE ]
As much as I like the idea behind this statement, with infinite money source, and IO sets, characters have started to be able to handle anything alone. -

How did you manage to get to 44 on a SD without stamina (and I assume you have tough and weave)?
Do you ever attack?
[/ QUOTE ]
yep, i have tough and weave, and EVERY shield power as well.
The story goes, it was a tough road from 1-35, but the fight was worth it. I ran every TF with large teams, so my main job was simply damage soaking. But yea, I attacked every so often, mostly with shadow maul and sands of mu.
I also have a miracle +recov to help, and I use OwTS as an end recovery powerNow I can attack all the time!

4. Provide psi resistance in the ally shields.

Doesn't sound thematic to sonic. But it worth a try to see if the dev would yield a bit.

It does sound thematic to Clarity! -
I've come back to give an update on my SD/DM tank.
Lvl 44 still no stamina, but I've started the fitness pool in hopes of getting stamina at 49!
Everything is going smoothly, I have yet to find something that I can't tank (well, those monsters on monster isle killed me in short order...).
Everything with SD/DM is great! I find it hard to roll another tank. -
New Defender Inherent:
Scaling defense for self in accordance with how many teammates you have!
0 teammates= 20% def all
1 teammate= 15%
2 teammates= 10%
3 teammates= 8%
4 teammates= 6%
5 teammates= 4%
6-8 teammates = 0%
Meh, I don't even particularily like this idea, but I thought I'd throw it out there. -
...
I vote stone/ice
Love that combo, granite becomes a panic button, not an "end all be all" button.
you can handle psionics easily, even in granite if you really wanted to, ice patch, mudpots, and freezing touch, along with rooted and health, have you covered, no big deal.
I see stone/ice as being the definition of impossible to kill.
Mine stopped dying at all from level 20 on to 50 (too bad I closed that account).
Damage was nothing too spectacular, though Frozen Aura rocks completely. -

TA/AR here I come! about time!

The results you get from any endeavor tend to be proportionate with the amount of effort you invest. This applies in-game just as much as in the real world.

Also very true -
heh, well, I do lead teams, but I must say, that gets incredibly old...
Some times I just like things handed to me -
Character: Sonic/Dark
Mood: Sadness
Reason: No teams
Day 1: (Atlas Park)
Me: "Anyone up for Sewers?"
Broadcast channel:
"AE Team LFM"
"AE Team Needs Tank"
"AE team needs healer!"
"Where'd the bubble farm go?"
"LvL 4 Scrapper lfAE Team!"
Whisper: "I'll do sewers"
Me: "Sewer team LFM! 6 slots open"
Broadcast:
"AE garble"
Teammate: "huh, no luck, I'm gonna go run some AE ok?"
Me: "sigh, ok"
Logged off
Day 2: (Atlas) "Alright guys, who's up for sewers?"
Broadcast: "Meh, sewers are too slow"
"AE team lfm!"
"AE Team needs damage!"
"Why am I stuck?"
"Anyone Lagging?
"AE ruined this game"
"I wish someone would run the ITF"
"ITF looking for runners!"
"Sweet!"
Me: "Anyone...sewers...please?"
No takers
Logged off
Day 3: "Sewer team starting, PST"
Whispers: "I'll go!"
"I'll go!"
"Pick me!"
"Room for a lvl 3?"
"I love sewer runs"
"Room for a blaster?"
Success! on day three, I had rounded up a team to venture with me in to non-AE territory! We levelled, we laughed! We had a grand old time.
I logged at lvl 7.
Day 4: (Kings Row) "Anybody have room for a lvl 7 Sonic/Dark defender?"
Broadcast:
(Nothing)
Whispers:
(Nothing)
Find Menu
*click Kings Row search*
Me: "I'm...the only one here...eerie"
Logged out after street hunting for a bit (Lvl 7.6)
Day 5: (Kings Row, and bunches of people are here!)
Me: "Lvl 7 defender lft!"
Broadcast: "lvl 8ish team lfm!"
Me-whisper: "I'll join"
Whisper: "You heal?"
Me: "not a bit, just +res"
Whisper: "We'll pass, thanks"
Me: "Level 7 defender lft!"
Broadcast: "We'll take you!"
I join the team, bunch of level 5s asking to run my missions.
Fine, I settle, let them run on my missions, we have some fun, I hit level 9 in fairly short order.
Logged off due to work the next day.
Day6-8:
Spent time in both KR and Steel looking for teams.
No one picks me up.
Tried removing sonic from my search comment.
Still nothing.
Marketed for awhile, made several million.
So now, after 3 days of being unable to get a single team, I'm left wondering.
"is it me?"
"is it my powers?"
"Soloing is boring, but it's about all I can do"
I just don't know. Anyone else unable to get teams these days? Should I reroll in to something people like? -
Huh, last I checked, PvP was rather LoLmelee.
But I don't pvp much so I suppose that may have changed.
Ice I would imagine is not the way to go, since defense will like get eaten alive by strong accuracy buffs. WP/SS, WP, being regen based, will probably fall to the high burst damage that I believe PvP relies on.
That leaves invul/ss and fire/ss. Fire/SS may lend itself to being better simply for the quick heal. Invul would be a little bit "tougher" initially I'm thinking.
I'm gonna say invul/ss.
I can't provide a build though.
Of course, invul/dark maybe be good now that I think about it. -

My defender opposite is great, and the AoE is actually fair with Frost Breath and Ice Storm.
I'd say, enjoy it! It's awesome. -
well
Elec/SD is amazing fun, teleporting around for 2 superior damage attacks is untold amounts of fun.
But I don't play brutes for any reason other than that -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd assume its because some people relied heavily on broadcast pugs pre-AE and therefore never actually developed any real friendships or found an active SG. or something.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find I have some of the most fun in PuGs
And some of the SGs I have been in...though they are great for getting teams, I've had to leave because they seem to support censorship, and say things like "I don't team with energy blasts"
I've been blacklisted by an entire SG/coalition for my response to THAT particular leader. -
[ QUOTE ]
Incidentally anyone try a Dark/EM Tanker? I would think that combo would actually work fairly well (OG + Whirling Hands).
[/ QUOTE ]
I struggled with dark/em as well as dark/mace, Whirling and OG stack pretty well, though disappointment abounds when the stun doesn't stack on the people you wanted it too.
I'd say EM is only really applicable to dark for that reason though. -
Last I checked, yeah, no arrows were lighting in AE.
I assume it's a bug, but couldn't tell you either way. -
[ QUOTE ]
Have you tried frankenslotting for the best end reduction yuo can get without gimping your attacks and defenses? 4 Res/End Ios from different sets in each toggle, a bunch of damage/end/recharge and acc/end IOs in the attacks, and so on?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm starting over from page one again, since I got too frustrated awhile back to continue. I'll have to try this method this time around to see if anything improves. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've been arguing for a -res effect to be added to a FF power since about I4 or so. Good luck with that one.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would step on Sonic's toes. So, I'm not surprised it's not in there. -
The difference between 1 and two isn't much, 1 is probably fine for 95% of PvE content.
If you're gonna go more than 1, get 4, because 4 means nothing will knock you back/down short of like 3 Fake Nem staffs.
-
QR
I can't advise slotting KB% Stupefy in Repulsion bomb! The glory of that power is the KD imo. -
I don't understand why the devs would make one armor so vastly different than the rest, especially a resist based one. If I'm getting shot with fire/smashing attacks, I want to resist both, not have to choose which I resist just to save end.
*shrug*
