I believe security level advancement is currently held by the super secret organization called F.A.R.M. They took over when official channels couldn't keep up with how quickly new heroes would rise through the security levels
(it actually doesn't sound COMPLETELY implausible)

Lately it's just easier and cheaper to just buy the couple individual parts
I want rather than the whole pack. Best of both worlds. Get only the parts I need and save my points for next time -
Seems there a few too many bugs and not nearly enough resolutions.

I feel your pain. I can't remember the last time I got a purple drop. hours upon hours of farming and nada. Though I suspect that old school farms like the demon farms were nerfed some time ago as far as drop pool ratios. I've run entire maps with nary a recipe drop. By contrast I have a buddy who teams with me frequently though he doesn't play nearly as much as I, and will land a purple drop literally every day he plays. If it's really just luck I could use a nice infusion of the good kind

Is there any hope of ever getting a third color option instead of just two? May give us a primary two colors for the tights themselves and a third separate for a pattern... An example would be Statesman has red, white and blue. with a stripe AND stars over his blue tights.

I applaud you for trying to think outside of the box but I have to agree with the others. Those first levels go so fast there's little point.

Just to throw in my two cents. I've had tanks with taunt and tanks without it. No one has ever commented one way or another. I can honeslty say it hasn't made one bit of difference. My playstyle and technique adjusts to whichever situation I tank in. And that's what the game is about... diversity, options, unique playstyles. No one has the right to tell anyone how to build their toons. No one has the right to tell them what powers they have to have. (feel free to insert snarky comment about empaths without heals) If someone were to tell me that I'd have to be a tank with taunt to be on their team, well then that would be their loss. And for the nay sayers who have a problem with tauntless tanks, one could always use the counter argument, if you built your toons with better survivability, then you wouldn't have to rely on the tank so much.

Well as I see it, forums are a place for voicing opinions and such and everyone is entitled to their opinions. From what I've seen there are plenty of players out there who post some awesome ideas and some who just enjoy a good rant. Then there are some who think they know better on how the game should be run than the developers. I have learned to pretty much tune the last group out. Nowadays I may read a few comments on a new thread but often by the 5th or 6th post the conversation has turned away from the original topic enough where it just isn't worth while to continue reading. One really has to learn to weed out the constructive feedback from the forum trolls who are just posting to up their rep.
But I try not to let the things I read in the forums influence the amount of enjoyment I get out of the game. After 5 years of continued gaming on CoH, I'm not about to let someone with a sour disposition ruin my entertainment. -

Quote:I see what you're saying but we're clearly not talking about the same thing here. In game items that can be sold are not exclusive. Meaning multiple people can get them by various means whether it be a lucky drop or as you mentioned, purchasing through the market. The existence of the market establishes that it is OK to sell in-game items for influence. That is what the market is all about. Which is not to say that the devs condone name-selling but the argument that selling in-game leads to selling for real money doesn't stand up. I've been selling since WW opened and never have considered selling anything for real money.
Hoarding names for the express purpose to sell to people isn't the ingame market at all. And tell me, how does my argument NOT stand up? Where do you think the gold spammers came from? They farm inf or whatever currency each particular MMO deals in and sell it for cash. Heck, there are even people out there who I've seen advertise powerleveling for cash. This is not new. And if you want the perfect example of how an in game market translates into cash sales its called the Paragon Market. Mind you, this is NOT a criticism of the DEVS or anyone affiliated with the creation of CoH. This is their game and they are completely entitled to create a cash for content system such as it is. However what I was trying to say is at some point, someone down the road WILL try hoarding things such as names for cash. There are people out there who are very enterprising and inevitably will try and take advantage of such a situation. -
Sitting on names with the intent of selling them to the highest bidder sounds suspiciously like cybersquatting. Then on top of that, how is trying to advertise these sales on the forums any different than the "gold sellers" in game. I know... I know, someone will say the OP isn't asking for real cash. But isn't that just the next step? If selling names for inf on the forums becomes acceptable, it's just opening the door for someone to come along looking for cash transactions.

Digital, if your running the "Track down Trapdoor" mission from Mender Ramiel, which seems probable since you have a hero status, then you most likely had the mission before you had a premium status. Since that's incarnate content and only VIPs can access incarnate content then I doubt you can finish the mission. You might want to try going back to the contact and seeing if you can either drop or autocomplete the mission. Operative Grillo would be a villain contact in Grandville, who will give you a mission called Take down Trapdoor. If your character had ever been a villain it could possibly be an old mission that you would need to revert back to a villain status to complete. You can find plenty of additional information on Paragonwiki.com. Hope this info helps and good luck.

Since CoH Freedom wet live, they've been tweaking the whole game to a more interactive comic book feel. That said, in true comic book tradition, I'm sure somewhere down the road he'll return to life. After all very few lead characters ever stay dead in comics.

Hey designers! PLEASE stop locking out the back details, specifically wings and capes, from being compatible with costume parts such as the waste capes. I still haven't forgiven your removing of the back options from the magic bolero (completely ruined my all time favorite costume when I popped into the tailor before realizing you'd changed it) If clipping is an issue just please find some way around it rather than limit our options. Perhaps that's more work but your player base will be far more appreciative than when you take options away from us.
I used to jump on all the new costume packs but lately the costume boosters feel very rushed and the lack versatility to this pack is a deal breaker for me. Sadly it does seem the trend is quantity over quality. I hope those in charge will start really listening to the feedback your players give you. Yes, most likely there will always be a large player base that will go out of their way to find something to complain about, but look at it this way, the more people you please with your products the more repeat business and revenue you'll get.
By the way. In the future it would be beyond great if you could give multiple texture options for pieces so that they are more compatible with other costume parts that may not be from the same pack. Is it asking too much? Considering the long time devoted fanbase of this MMO, I don't really think so especially considering new costume pieces used to be free and now players have to purchase them. -
I have to say that adding the Rularru Shin costume pieces as a reward for completing Shadow Shard Tf's is brilliant! While a few of those task forces could probably use a revamp, putting a reward for it would definitely garner them more attention from the player base. I know the Cimmeroran pieces are a real nice perk and motivator in running the ITF. Even though I personally never tire of that particular task force.

Quote:I think the problem is that your analogy is simply flawed. Let's roll with this shall we. Your bent out of shape that some fairly nifty (though not terribly hard to get) enhancements will be sold in the store and comparing that to people buying a superbowl ring. The problem being that a superbowl ring is is a token of esteem for having won a RL sports competition. Store bought enhancements are merely a stepping stone in the development of a fictional character. No real blood sweat and tears ever goes into these said characters. (And FYI if it does, then it's probably time to turn off the computer and go play outside.*Sigh* It's sad that I have to do this, but this is the second post in this thread where I find myself needing to ask, "Do you not grasp the concept of analogy? Or are you being intentionally obtuse because you disagree with my overall point?"
It seems your too worried about HOW someone may have gotten an enhancement and the truth is unless they flat out told you, you would never know. To me it's no different than the literal THOUSANDS of toons out there that are PL'd to 50 in a day or two. Yes, many players don't really like it, even though most of us have been pl'd to one degree or another at some given point in our gaming history. But the bottom line is it's no ones business how anyone get's his or her enhancements. Heck, between me and my gaming buddies, we GIVE our enhancements to one another if anyone needs anything, including purples. The devs are trying to beef up revenue. The more money that get's put into the game the longer the game runs. I agree it's a perilous slope they tread on. There must be limits in games. Without challenge, then whats the point? But honestly I don't see selling I.O. sets in the store as truly endangering very much content. Since I highly doubt ANYONE is only running missions in the desperate hopes of acquiring one specific recipe. Hoping to get it yes. But only playing to get it, doubtful. To do so would be "obtuse". -
So just for clarification, can an already existing FREE account use the VIP starter kit to upgrade to VIP for a month?
-
How about a consumable that would prevent us from getting temp power recipe drops for an 24 hours. I truly hate those drops. Instead we'd get tier 2 or higher recipes.
-
I also have two accounts. Both of which received their respective points on the 12th of last month. This month only one account has gotten them. Given the amount of hype they put on this new rewards system I find it so disappointing to see this level of shoddy customer service. They have had problems with this system since the get go. This isn't even technically a gaming issue but rather a billing one so clearly we can't point fingers at the devs. But the publishers of this game really should be holding someone accountable for making sure that they're systems run as flawlessly as possible. At the very least they should give us some feedback on their progress with resolving the issues.

Quote:Ah! nice to know I'm not the only one who has experienced this recently. So updated both my computers, tried to log into the game on my desktop, got this weird message "you must fill out the account and password fields to log in to your account" and Im like WTF? THEY ARE FILLED OUT (or "in" as I like to say). OK so my desktop is old and curmudgeonly so I moved to my brand-spanking new super duper laptop.....and got the SAME MF'ing message!!! WHAT IS THIS ****?
