mission won't complete
What does Operative Grillo have to say? (I'm assuming you're doing his mission since as a non-VIP I don't think Mender Ramiel should talk to you at all.)

Who and where is operative grillo? I've had this character from before things went free-to-play. So there could be some weirdness there.
Ohhh, so you are doing Mender Ramiel's arc? Incarnate stuff is VIP only, if you're not VIP any more that might account for why it won't let you progress.

You might want to make a new character and run the tutorial missions to reacquaint yourself with the basics of the game.

Operative Grillo is the guy who gave you the mission in the first place. Go to your contact menu and either call him (if you have his number) or go see him in person if the call button isn't available.

and getting to Grillo is going to be kind of hard from what I can tell as I'm a hero and Grillo is in Grandville.
Who's the contact who gave you the mission? (Go to Contacts>Active) You may need to head back to him/her and turn something in. Otherwise, click back on the Mission, and see if it points you elsewhere. Worse comes to worst, log out and back in again to see if it resets it or gives you the next relevant piece of info.

I appreciate the help, but being told to run the tutorial doesn't come across real well.
and there is no active contact with the mission
the mission is there, marked as completed
Mender Remiel isn't in any of my contact tabs.
Digital, if your running the "Track down Trapdoor" mission from Mender Ramiel, which seems probable since you have a hero status, then you most likely had the mission before you had a premium status. Since that's incarnate content and only VIPs can access incarnate content then I doubt you can finish the mission. You might want to try going back to the contact and seeing if you can either drop or autocomplete the mission. Operative Grillo would be a villain contact in Grandville, who will give you a mission called Take down Trapdoor. If your character had ever been a villain it could possibly be an old mission that you would need to revert back to a villain status to complete. You can find plenty of additional information on Paragonwiki.com. Hope this info helps and good luck.
StarGeek was just trying to help you -- I don't read any condescension in his reply at all. I'm certain he didn't mean anything other than to be helpful to someone who was in a tough situation.

Anyway: Do you remember if you had been working on Ramiel's arc the last time you played, before Freedom? (When WAS the last time you played, specifically?) Also, just so we're clear, is this the mission where you fight Trapdoor in the Council base with the lava room at the end, and his bifurcations appear?
If the answer is yes, then I would surmise that breaking VIP status in the middle of this VIP-only arc has somehow broken it. You could try speaking to Ramiel in person in Ouroboros so see if that at least clears it, but otherwise you may just be stuck with it.
Also, this whole thing about the response you got for the support ticket. Did you file this through the NCSoft support website, or via an in-game petition? Because I have to say, it's kind of crummy if non-VIPs can't at least get support from GMs when they encounter game-breaking bugs. Who wants to pay for a game with impassable bugs?

I filed an ingame support ticket and this is the response I got.
I got going rogue and started this mission before Freedom.
Then I couldn't play for awhile, so I picked up where I left off and then I hit this.
This character was made a hero and has always been a hero.
Remiel just tells me only VIPs can talk to him.
Yeah, support for this kind of thing, isn't exactly inspiring for wanting to pay again. Maybe they'll eventually follow up on their automated response.
Thanks all for assistance.

Y'know, I get that non-VIPs aren't necessarily paying customers, but they're potential paying customers, even if they don't sub. VIPs should definitely get a higher level of support, but I would think a GM could take 5 damn seconds to clear out a bugged mission or unstick a player from a wall or something.

Create a Support Account (it isn't the same as your Game account).
Use the Ask A Question tab to file a support ticket. This is effectively the same as filing an in-game petition and is available to VIP, Premium and Free players.
That being said, since this is a Incarnate (VIP only) mission and arc, you won't be able to progress on it since you are no longer VIP. The only way you would be able to progress in this mission/arc would be to subscribe and return to VIP status.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I thought having bought Going Rogue would have included this content. oh well.
Incarnate content was not a part of Going Rogue. The Alpha slot didn't come into the game until Issue 19, the issue AFTER Going Rogue.
Prior to Freedom, having a GR code applied to your account was a prerequisite to accessing the Incarnate content. With the launch of Freedom, Incarnate content is restricted to VIP's only, and GR was rolled into the base VIP subscription.

It's pretty clearly stated in all the Freedom documentation that Incarnate content is ONLY available to VIPs.

Heck, it's pretty much the only thing that's only available to VIPs.
Here's my theory: The OP was a VIP at the time he started Ramiel's arc. Between the time of accepting the mission and cutting back to premium he lost access to incarnate content and to Ramiel as a contact. That the mission itself remained is definitely a bug. A GM can probably abandon or autocomplete the mission for you, but you won't be able to continue in the arc unless you return to being a VIP.
PS My 'read the whole thread' skill kicked in after I made this post. But at least my post pretty much sums up what has gone before.

I finished the track down trapdoor missions, but it doesn't complete. I click on it it says its completed, but it doesn't clear and it doesn't go away, but there's nothing telling me what to do next. What's up? anyone?
