    First, why all shot from a riffle? The grenade animation is nice! Could put 2 powers shot from a riffle though, the long recharge ones.

    But that set lacks something unique. First, Pepper spray being target AoE makes no sense, it'd be a short ranged cone, why not put a Laughing Gas as AoE control? It can be either a stun or a confuse. Or some puke gas, It'd be nice to see all your enemies pucking while you kick their faces.

    Sleep and Smoke, as it was said, are completely skipable, they could be merged into the same power as well. Sleep GRenade: Ranged AoE Sleep with -perception and -to-hit, with a highter recharge.

    Plants have a healing tree, Illu is completely unique, grav has wormhole, that opens room for a new unique power here as well. What about "Riot Shild Support"? You summon three police officers with Riot shield in front of you, they are immobile and has an wide PBAoE taunt aura. They don't fight back but as long their last, all attacks as drawn to them. (It's like an immobile, phantom army with no damage to make up for the damage on the rest of the set.) These guys could even have a cone shield bash to knockback people away from them, avoiding the enemies to walk around and hit on their back.

    Compare controller with doms is just stupid.

    Dominators does what their AT says... they dominate, hold and blast things, that's it.
    Controllers requires more attention to play in order to control the battle to your favor, not only by holding the enemies but by keeping your team alive, or debuffing the enemy.

    Dominators walk over controllers? You must be kidding me... no dominator laugh at single target enemies like an Illu/Rad, or fire/rad. No dominator pos PSW nerf can solo 8man spawn faster than a fire/kin, plant/kin.
  3. I'm trying to make a Super Perma Dom 4 build with my earth/earth dom, but I think that to achieve this, you'd need to have more confuse powers, so mind/psy would be best.

    Super Perma Dom 4 is 125% recharge AND S/L def cap, yes, talk about overkill!! I got my earth/earth build to 112.5% recharge with S/L def cap, but can't get more than that..
  4. You have a crab!!! Nothing is more AoE focused than a crab on redside I guess...
    Not to mention you can cap all 3 positionals and still be a beast on AoE. Or cap only ranged, get perma pets and be awesome in teams too.

    As for doms, they can solo x8 with most primaries regardless of the secundary, especially fire, earth or plant primary, maybe grav. But fire, earth and plant with enough recharge has a powerful aoe hard control power every 20-25 sec..
  5. Funny, I am doing the other way, I play dominator because I can't stand blue side. As soon as GR come out, I will leave my dominators and roll all trollers.

    I am a control freak, and having control AND support instead of damage makes me happier. The question that remains is about EPP... I dont want a controller with Villain EPP... hero ones are waaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

    Something about fire actually, not the powerset, but fire itself... I'm not a fiery person :P
  7. Thanks for the answers, it helped me to narrow my options and I will stick with /psy for my new toon. But I have another question.

    Is Fire the only primary able to stack enough hold to lockdown an AV? The animation time is 1,07 seconds on char, another set with longer animation would suffer with stacking holds quickly, right?

    I was thinking about earth or mind in this case. Maybe mind could do it with confuse instead?
  8. I have two perma doms already, I really love playing dominator class and I am a roleplayer, I always go for concept, while trying to make a powerful character.

    My two perma doms: Plant/Thorn, easy plantgirl concept, and Earth/Fire, volcano concept.

    I was thinking about making the old ultimate farmer dom, fire/psy. But I know they are not the way they used to be with the nerf on PSW. The question is... if I softcap S/L defenses, how good is a fire/psy now, and with enough recharge to put drain psyche at 35s rech, would it be able to solo an AV?

    Please, no trolls posting: "Want to kill an AV, get a team, the game is not balanced around soloing them, bla bla bla"

    It's challenging to make builds on AT's that weren't supposed to do it, doing it.

    My bots/traps can anyday perform better than my demon/thermal. So can my thugs/dark.

    Demons are new, noisy, better looking. But talking about performance and numbers, I don't think they have anything to nerf...

    It's nice to play demons because they are very resistant to damage, and with IO procs, thermal shield and the demon extra shield, they don't take much damage and I can usually outheal any enconter.

  11. Finally got my lil aoe machine to level 37...
    Elec/Ninj stalker, awesome build, softcap, 100% recharge.. 22% damage...

    >.>

    And suddenly my min/max kicked in... and I was back to reality... even with a 172 dps chain, the money I'd use to get her to it wasn't worth it....

    I removed all LotG and epics from my dominator to put on her and on the last moment I saw my poor level 48 bots/traps there... alone.. no love...

    Anyway.. now I have my AV soloer, able to face easily +2/x8, with def cap (both the mm and the pets!). And still effective on pvp!!

    Damn, they need to balance this game... =/ I feel bad for leaving my stalker project because she would never be as good as a mastermind. More fun? Maybe, but the limitations are frustrating.
  12. I have a robots/traps and I'm about to respec him.

    I am tired of combat jumping and my end regen is pretty good to hold hover all time in combat for the defense bonus. The question is simple: Can you set traps while hovering? Even trip mines?
  13. The powers are frankensloted, mostly.
    I would try to go for more recharge, it's not /bad/, but getting closer to perma energize seems like a good idea.

    Two slot in hurdle is basically an waste, and the drainlife could get more damage. A nice way is to slot with 3 Nucleolous if you can afford them, and then frankenslot Heal/rech/end. Other than that, it's a good build, will work


    Edit:

    I forgot, you don't really need the +stealth IO for pve, and if the build is going to be pvp too, you will need stealth on top of the IO and hide.
  14. MA/regen > +0/x8 for drops, or +2/x4 when I just want prestige or play without care for drops.

    I was soloing with my stalker (she is now level 30!) on +2, with bosses.
    Then I got a mayhem and on the first "true seeing" ambush I almost died. And I finally died on the smash and grab vault ambush of equalizers with lieuts.

    So, I think others ATs do mayhem better than stalkers because of focused target ambushes that see you even when you are in hide. Masterminds for exemple in mayhem are very fun to play, especially to destroy everything with pets on aggro. And the bodyguard keep them alive on focused target ambushes.
  16. More damage, usually :P and they are less squichy, but the point of the topic is why to play a stalker!

    So far the conclusion is that people play them more for the fun than anything else, which is nice I'm enjoying mine ALOT.

    People still play stalkers more for the fun they provide and the feeling of being a stealth assassin more than the numbers they put...

    As for me, by the way, yes, I will keep going with my stalker, because despite of her flaws of single target, when I'm soloing it feels so awesome to pick my targets, sneak behind them and one shot! *_*
  19. I am aware that stalkers are not meant to be played as a scrapper or brute, and yes, I am PLAYING the game with my stalker, I know they can get crits.

    Being an stealth assassin is fun when soloing, but what can a stalker bring to a team if everything else is dead as soon as you are done with the boss you AS'd?

    Your post is right in basically everything, I know the stalker whole very well, and when soloing I feel absolutely like a ninja! But... teaming feels like I don't bring as much as everyone else.


    By the way, you didn't answer the post main question.

  20. So I started a stalker, or LOLSTALKER, like a friend of mine usually say, along with alot more people...

    I was checking on MIDs all the numbers, DPA and DPS of most stalkers attacks. For a single target, mellee archtype, the stalker is behind brutes and scrappers by a GOOD amount.

    The stalkers forums is the slower of all forums, which makes me wonder if it's really true that less and less people play this AT.

    Currently I am with a Elec/Ninjitsu project, trying to prove to my friend that a stalker can be a killing machine, but, looking to the numbers on mids, (I managed to make a build with 172 DPS on a Elec), between a stalker and a brute, it's WAAAY cheaper to make the brute version (Elec/shield in this case), and it would still outperform the stalker, both on AoE and ST damage.

    Anyone else has the feeling stalkers are being left behind because the devs don't know what to do with the hide/AS system? Once out of hide, we are a scrapper with less damage. On an AV fight we can AS once, any AS after this is actually LOSS of DPS. Placate/AS barely burst the DPS, and wait all the 6 seconds to start other AS is a killer in our damage.

    I am not aware of how stalkers are in pvp, but I assume they're still good, expecially with ROFLTHROWSHARKS. Maybe the issue is just pve wise. If you take for exemple an widow, it deals more DPS than a stalker, with alot of team buffs. A brute deals more damage than a stalker, and can tank. Remove threat is not stalkers main purpose anymore since any perma dom can lock a whole spawn with one click!


    So... the main question of this post is:
    Why do /YOU/ still play a stalker?
  21. Yeah, limiting travel powers makes no sense, will just make the game slower and maybe boring to play due to running...

    If you really want to prove your point to your friend you should try something more gimped than a stalker, maybe something/Energy armor brute, something heavy on end prefered, like stone mellee.
  22. Same here, one character only, my /regen, which is even easier to farm due huge regen and heal on auto :P, used to farm with 4-5 machine guns council on him at once.

    crazy... what level are you? I highly recomend stamina, unless you want to devour blues all the time for the rest of your life!!
