I finally leveled up to 27 and have played with the demon prince summon long enough to figure out: I have teamed with this guy before, but he looks different.



I play a demon summoning/thermal. Now I only bother with shields on the bosses, and then Frosty just hits him with a Mag whatever hold and freezes the longbow boss for the duration of the fight. I plan to slot pacing of the turtle with some generic acc/dmg to really get things down to a crawl.

The more I level DS/thermal, the more I hope they don't hit the demons with a nerf bat, but I think it's coming. Dooooooooooom.

I don't see why people seem to think demons will get nerfed. I can do just as much with my bots/traps or thugs/dark that I can do with my demons/traps. My bots traps heals itself better and the minions die less also. With my thugs all I need to really worry about is my arsonist, and with demons I have to pretty much worry about all of them except the prince. I have all 4 of the pet res/def procs and the FFG and they still seem to take more damage than I would think they should. I don't know.

If anything I would say that thugs still do more damage and it is way easier to set mobs up for the arsonist aoe. The demons always seem to use their aoe on the least amount of mobs possible lol and the AI on them seems horrible at times. In saying all this though demons so far have still been my favorite and I have played all primaries to 50 now except mercs.

First, I did a big double take the first time I realized the ember demon healed the mastermind in addition to the other minions.

Second, have you checked out the radius of the ember shield that projects around the ember demon? It's huge.

Damage auras on mastermind pets, multiple pets really change things up. When the pets go into melee mode, everything seems to pile up on my mastermind and pets making my heal auras on my thermal and by extension to /dark and /pain sets really more effective.

For the most part, I like the attack sequence of the pets, this AI seems superior. The pets fire off a couple ranged attacks and then close to melee range, again for the piling up theme I discussed before. This won't get nerfed but it is superior. The minions don't chase things down and aggro extra groups nearly as much as necros or ninjas do.

The cold, damage, slow, sleep aspects of the auras on the demon prince seem really over the top, too. In short, demons do a LOT of what I would call passive damage.

I don't think demons/thermal is overpowered as much as say /dark or /traps. FFG + ember shield would be sick and wrong.

My demon/ff, while only 28, is going really strong. I suspect a lot of that is from /ff, but the heal demon throws his (her?) heal out much more often than the pro bots. I plan on taking aid other to fill in a more "on demand" healing that I dont get with the t2 minion heal, and insp use.

I think of it as a lot like bots/ff, but trading stacking def and A. bot aoe smash for some resists and D. prince control. I am intrigued about demon/thermal, but all the therms I see only take the heals and the rez, and if they do have the shields, they dont use them.

Demons are not better then thugs.

Will they get nerfed? Probably not.


Flavor of the month does unpredictable things though. Who can really say.

I dont look at number I just enjoy what I play but a friend and I have twin DS/DM and the effect is amazing. Between the damage and the debuffs we cut through bosses, lieutenants and minions with ease. Our power selections differ slightly.. at this point (level 22) we don't even have the second Demon yet. I haven't taken tar patch yet opting for Twight Grasp, Darkest Night, and Howling Twilight all enhanced to optimise debuff, slow and disorient. She has Tar Patch along with Howling Twight and Twlight Grasp. We both use HT as often as it is available so everything is moving slow, disoriented and easy to hit. Now add in the damage we put out together and almost nothing, including a few elite bosses, has been able to stop us so far. I cant wait to get the second Demon and the Demon Prince!

Personally I HOPE they don't nerf it but every time we play those characters we discuss how long before someone decides we are TOO powerful. Shhhh don't tell the Devs we can't wait to hit the 30-40s and ruin Romulus' day in Cimeroroa together LOL

I did amazing things with my necro/dark as I did even more amazing things with thugs/poison. Demon/dark adds nothing to the awesomeness previously seen, it's simply more noisy.

I don't think you have the numbers to support your first statement. None of the thugs heals the mastermind. The enforcer leadership does not apply to the mastermind. The enforcer leadership does not apply to teammates and allies. The damage auras alone on the hellfire gargoyle and the demon prince have no comparison in a primary mastermind set.

These factors are independent of the flavor of the month feature. And, I know the demons were nerfed a couple times during beta.

When experienced players tinker enough with teaming and min/maxing SF squads, these demon summoning masterminds will really show what they can do.

My prince has this nasty habit of single target attacks while a huge mob is around, then when there is one guy left he does the frozen aura foot stomp.


/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.

My bots/traps can anyday perform better than my demon/thermal. So can my thugs/dark.

Demons are new, noisy, better looking. But talking about performance and numbers, I don't think they have anything to nerf...

It's nice to play demons because they are very resistant to damage, and with IO procs, thermal shield and the demon extra shield, they don't take much damage and I can usually outheal any enconter.
