I've got to mirror the advice to build for S/L and/or Melee defense with this pairing. The aggro you bring down on yourself is epic. I included the Fighting Pool and Acrobatics from Leaping in my build for added survival. I passed on Aid Self, not because it's a bad power for this build but I planned on specc'ing into Ageless Incarnate + green inspirations use.
-
I hereby dub thee "Smuggiest King of SS/FA/Mu Build Fail of all tyme". CG.
-
Oh snap. I was thinking of going Ageless for the +Recharge/+End/+Debuff resist. What does Rebirth offer? +Regen?
-
Thanks Infini,
I'll de flook into those membranes for EA. Forgot to think they could be slotted in there. I'm a little concerned about losing my F/C defense, well, the Fire portion anyway. THe argument that my -dmg should fill in for it could be valid though. I'll rework the build a touch and post it here.
Thanks. -
Hey Tankers,
I'm looking for some constructive feedback as it relates to my planned Ice/KM Tanker. I'll add some quick words here as it relates what it is i'd like to do with him and then post the build.
First and formost I'll be running TFs/Trials/Incarnate League typed events. Then I usually PuG/missions/Amerits and the like and finally some light AE for tickets. Ideally, hitting the S/L soft cap for incarnate runs (I think it's 59%???) would be a big plus.

+1 Built in +recharge toggle, endless endurance and softcap s/l/e/n. Might replace my spines/wp.
-
Plant/Poison +1. Confuse mob > mob bunches up > debuff > nom nom nom
-
I have a 51 Fire/Ice/Pyre Tanker that eats minions and can farm fairly well on 54 Fire Farm maps. He's at the softcap for S/L damage as well. It took some work but he's a durable little bugger now.
If kill speed is all you're after, pairing Ice Melee with Shield Defense or Fire Armor is likely the best option. After that I'd consider something with a damage aura like Dark Armor or even Ice Defense. -
Another vote for Ice/KM/Soul. Turn those Psi baddie sinto psikittens with -dmg.
-
On my Traps/DP Defender it doesnt allow me to slot the Ragnarok -KD IO. Is this a bug?
-
Here's my current build plan. Lemme know if I've missed something(s). I reach the softcap to the positional types and might yet take SS so I can toe bomb.

Tks Jim,
DP/Traps sounds nice too. The reason(s) I went defender over corruptor was/is the higher buff/debuff #s. I plan to mostly team with this toon and wanted to bring that aspect of mitigation to the team and getting PGT and Shield drone before level 12 was just too tempting to pass up. -
Hey Guys,
Sorry I was AFK. I started a new job and things have been rather hectic for me these past few weeks. Thank you all for your replys, input and responses. I do understand the difference between Typed and Positional Defenses. The reason I was looking @ S/L/E/N softcaps was due to Scorpian Shield. I simply figured (incorrectly) that it wouldn't be possible to get all 3 positional defenses to softcap and decided to shoot for what I thought was the next best thing in typed defense. So my bad there. My Traps/DP is now Level 40 and I expect to start io'ing him shortly. If I like him from that point on I'll hit the incarnates. I'm leaning towards spirtitual for Alpha slot as softcapping takes away from some of the +Recharge I'd like to speed up traps dispersal. -
I'm having trouble understanding the argument that these changes in some way, shape or form are ruining FF. They're making me want to play FF and Kin more. Just my opinion, I know but the argument that it makes the set obsolete is false.
-
Welcome back to the fold Dark!
I don't have a good explaination as to why there aren't any Plant/Eath guides out there. What I can tell you is that Plant/Earth is a superb Domination combo made even more uber by the new Incarnate powers. I'm not sure if you're aware of what the Incarnate system is but there are numerous sources for info round these parts that can fill you in.
Elec/? will be well suited to either elec or energy assault sets. Elec has faster recharging melee options with build up for addiotnal damage, a pet and a little added end drain where as energy gives you powerboost for added control power, knockback options and stuns with heavy hitting albeit slower melee attacks. -
-
I find it helps to pin a mob up aganist a fixed object with repel. The literally can't get up and you're free to kill with no risk.
-
This is a literal god send. I recently made and subsequintly shelved my Elec/Kin Troller due to the non-stop demands for "SB". Can't wait.
-
AoE = Fire STD/-Res = Sonic
So if your goal is to put out the most orange numbers you can then go Fire. If you want to put a dent in hard targets like EB/AV/Boss/GM etc than I'd take Sonic. Also, if you plan to solo I'd pick Sonic as well. The AoE sleep (Sirens Call?) is a godsend to traps if you like to solo or small team.
If you want a mix of AoE Dmg and some debuffs+other tricks Dark/Traps is a pretty nasty combo. -
Hola Defenders,
My current obsession is a traps/dp defender that I'd like to run high end content with. Primarily I'll be teamed but I also like to head off solo for H-Merit mission and other misc adventures. Ideally, I wanted to first get softcapped to S/L/E/N types followed by as much +recharge as I could afford. The set omits Purple sets for the most part and the Glad proc +def is also sadly out of range. I've included my build below for your review. Please let me know how I can hit the E/N softcap. My build here takes me to 37.5%. A small purple away but it annoys me that I wasn't able to 45% it. Thanks.

This thread is epic win. I rolled an Elec/Kin a few days back. I've never so much as touched these sets before and slotting options are giving me a bonafide stroke. Thanks for the heads up on Procs. I think I'm going to slot 5 Devastation(s) with the 6th slot going to apoc proc.
-
Thank you Mental. Now how to slot it? I was thinking a mix of end mod and range. Thoughts?
