Quote:Not removed, but merged. Here's the quote:I'm leaving my previous post as is, but I just thought of something: given that there has been no mention of removing "Tenebrous Tentacles" from the new blaster's version of Dark Blast, and Blasters have access to AoE immobilizations in the Patron Power Pools, are we going to have blasters that can immobilize entire mobs, bosses included?!
I mean, that would be kick-***, but it is just surprising...
Quote:Dark Blast and Darkness Manipulation for Blasters
We chose Dark Blast as it would be a fun control centric blast set for Blasters. The power set was changed slightly to make it a better fit for Blasters. Dark Pit was removed, Torrent and Nightfall were merged into a single power: Umbral Torrent, and then Aim and a new power Abyssal Gaze (a single target hold with a DoT component) were added to round out the set.
Darkness Manipulation made a lot of sense as it was fairly low hanging fruit and would be a perfect pairing for Dark Blast. The set is made up of powers that are found in Dark Armor, Defender Dark Blast and Dark Miasma. The set can deliver crushing melee damage as well as provide a measure of crowd control and self buffs. -

Hmmm, a thought. Perhaps the reason they are waiting on Doms is because they plan on proliferating/adding a secondary which will require time for new animations? They did say they don't have time open for more animations....

Looks nice. I've had a concept in mind for a Necro/Sonic for years. I do wish they'd have proliferated Traps to Controllers and Illusion to Doms, but you can't have everything (yet).
Quote:Sure; think Spider Man getting the attention of a whole room of baddies while dodging all their attacks.SR Tanks just don't seem very conceptually fulfilling to me... you tank a mob with your ability to simply dodge their attacks, with no armor or shield or anything?
Quote:Well Chad knowing that those changes to Poison are coming down the pipe makes me hope for poison ruptors/trollers. Poison is such a turd live that I can't imagine wanting it at all, but making Envenom/Weaken AoEs and giving Poison Trap a hold certainly helps. Too bad PT is keeping the worthless recovery debuff, but I guess we can't have it all. -
One advantage of being superhuman: a superheroine can have huge breasts and wear high heels all day without back pain or sore ankles. Plus, women who can tear a normal man apart like wet Kleenex seldom have to put up much with sexual harassment, especially if they absentmindedly crush a brick to powder in their hand while looking at the obnoxious man in question...

Quote:Healing & Resurrection: rewinding time to erase the injury.I could only think of a few that could be explained away using time as a theme.
1. A recharge boosting power, thought being that the hero speeds up time around his teammates
2. A defense boost, the hero speeds up the perception of his teammates allowing them to dodge attacks easier (the opposite could be the way a slow debuff would work)
I have a bunch of other ideas but they're all hard control and that's not what primary/secondary sets for Controllers, Corrupters, and Defenders do.
Summoning: You summon past, future, or alternate timeline versions of yourself.
Redshift: By drastically slowing down time near you, you also "stretch out" the energy input over time of any attacks against you, diminishing their force.
Temporal Shift: You shift the target forward in time causing age and decay, weakening them. This shift is unstable however and they will soon return to normal. A debuff.
Temporal Shield: You project a field that diverts attacks into the nearby past or future, where it is less likely the protected person will be in the same spot to be struck by them. Adds Defense. -

Quote:I understand that works; send in the Lich, blow him up, summon a Lich-level ghost, then summon a new Lich. With I20.5, I made a toon (zombies/traps) that will be built around the concept of Team TPing invisible zombies into mobs (and staying behind myself, thanks to Null) and blowing one of them up (and bringing it back as a ghost? not sure if the body will remain...)

Hopefully Steelclaw is Arcanaville's counterpart and not the other way around; he probably looks better with a goatee than she does.

Well, with Plant you ideally want good AoE; /Fire, /Thorns and /Psi all mesh well. Although any of the secondaries work.
For Electric there's /Electric for more endurance drain, /Energy and /Earth for good single target damage and Power Boost, and /Psi for Drain Psyche which neuters their recovery. -
At one point they mentioned plans to give players access to a lot of the NPC pieces. As a guess, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being purchasable with Paragon Points.
That's different. Unfortunately, Jay has been unable to make those look good on player characters with their wider range of animations. -
Lots of people said that during Beta. I agree with the people who think that's the point; not everybody wants great big pets.

Quote:IIRC, they are basically the Northern Lights from the Lord Winter fight; the power descriptions do look rather Kheldian.I did also try the Polar Lights and although there wasn't anything wrong with them they just didn't fit my toons concept as well as I thought. Although the actual wisp pets look like the ones floating around Croatoa they shoot blasts like Kheldians have.
As for not being spectacular, I suspect that's on purpose; some people are going to want unobtrusive pets, just as others are going to want big flashy ones. -
You recall wrong. It wasn't "out of the question"; doing it just required a huge amount of effort, it wasn't hard in a technical sense, it just required that the animation people devote a lot of time to it. The issues are completely different.

Grav/Storm maybe? Probability-manipulating the random motions of air molecules could be used to explain the Storm powers.

Some sort of Insect Control powers; probably a buff/debuff set with a damaging power or two. Insect swarms that attack your enemies, confuse them, weaken them, or attack them.
A Mad Scientist mastermind set. It would have three Experiments, two Assistants, and one Creation for pets. The latter I picture as some huge Cyberdemon-looking cyborg monstrosity.
A Mind Control mastermind. The pets would be watered down versions of player character classes; "mind controlled supers". Ideally, you'd be able to make their costumes yourself in the costume creature. The level 18 "flavor power" would be a long recharge Aoe Confuse, I think. -

I call it fortunate, not unfortunate. They make much more money by someone staying subbed than they would by any lifetime subscription price people are likely to pay. Offering lifetime subs for a mature game like this one would reek of trying to con people out of a bit more of their money just before it shuts down. You could probably accurately predict when the shutdown would come just by calculating how many months it would take for the amount of money made by a subscription to pass that of a "lifetime" subscriber.

Quote:Ha! I knew it!Diabolique's Tower is, in part, inspired by the building from the end of Ghostbusters.
Quote:Looking at the preview pics, this one of "Diabolique Tower" gives me a strong Ghostbusters vibe.
