  1. Well I worked with a friend (thank you for the PM and ideas) on Freedom server that does not post on the forums and came up with another much more expensive option but better build.I have many of the IOs already and love playing this toon. I like the howling twilight slotting better, +recharge, +range defense among other things. Again, any thoughts are welcome.

  2. Hi all,

I am looking for input on my build. While I like recharge, I am not willing to give up my defense for it even with debuffs. Any further tweaks you see?

    Elec/NRG

    Hi All,

Not my toon but was asked by a friend to help him out with his build. I have 1 energy melee toon and that is about 1 too many but anyway...

Before I go and offer up any suggestions to another player, I thought I would refine it (perhaps make big changes) with your help.

    Thanks!

S/L is correct (the most common damage in the game). It is hardly a farm though because the map caps at 150 tickets. What is great about this little one is that the baddies stack defense debuffs like crazy...imagine a ITF. I use this to test other toons like ICE defense, Dark Armor, and others. The strategy changes for each of these. For what it is worth, I have seen this map flatten granite tanks and Invuln tanks alike...let alone brutes and scrappers with fewer hitpoints. On the otherhand, I have seen Dark Armor scrappers do well with stacked stuns, debuffs and a different set of tools. If you ever wonder how you will do on an ITF, this is a great map to test it out.

Try "bobcat challenge.". It is very fast and what I use to pressure test builds. Just search for it in AE search bar. Fun but definitely not easy.
  6. Hmmm... No fotm but bad. I have a couple thoughts
    1. Dm/Sd- aoe & single target with damage buffs from both soul drain a nd AAO. First pick

    2. Stone/wp- mitigation of damage from foes allows wp to regen. Stone has several knock downs and very solid single target damage. Stone is endurance heavy but willpower can handle it. Close second

    3. Fire/shield scrapper- more fun than elec/shield IMHO and very solid DMG output. Can be the best of both worlds once iod

Regarding elec melee- aside from 2 attacks I absolutely hate the rest of the attacks. If anyone is really being honest they will likely agree. I have about 5 of these iod in scrapper, tank, brute and would rather play fire/shield any day of the week for the same type of aoe goodness. Plus the single target fire attacks are solid. The only thing to be careful of with fire melee is that it lacks mitigation of damage so I would pick a tough secondary or plan to invest in IOS. YMMV.

The only things not affected are powers specifically marked as not accepting buffs such as Sands of Mu and the Judgement powers.
Also good reason to use those both during rage crash b/c their damage is not affected negatively by rage crash either.

Thanks for posting that build. Gave me some ideas for mine. Would you mind sharing your Psy/Em/SS/SJ/Conceal/Force build?

They're nice when grouped, but solo, not really that good compared to a scrapper or brute imho (fire armour means they don't really need to softcap def when fighting fire-based minions).
Look- I also do well with mine on pvp but thats not the point. Bottom line it is not an ideal farmer or pvper. All the things you mention as tradeoffs I am not trading off . Fire Kin wins on farming- even compared to a fire ss brute. I should also mention I hate playing my kin but for farming it wins. Nowadays if I want inf I marketeer.

How would this combo be for zone PVP? I never see them around but then again I only PVP every once in a while. With impale, self heal and other tools it might be decent.

    Thanks.

I have one and it is great but not ideal for farming. Go for a fire kin if thats what you want...not a tank.

    Is it my secret?

Or does anyone else know how fun Illusion/Cold trollers are? I have both Ill/kin and Ill/rad and on I would put this combo up there with those two.

    Pvp?

I am not a pvp expert but wanted to see how my ice/fire tanker would do in RV and managed to kill and frustrate a few stalkers and etc.. I am sure they saw tanker and thought easy... Not the case. I doubt I will take him back to rv because I don't really like pvp but I was surprised how much rep I put on in30 mins with a tank.
  14. My dream of kinetic armor was always more like Aikido-ish. I.E. you are able to redirect incoming attacks back to your enemies. The enemies that hit you harder power your attacks...like a dynamice build-up. I could see this playstyle being very fun. So the armor would be reasonable but survival would rely on dealing out the damage for surivival. Hope I explained that okay.

Also, to the OP- Ever tried Shield/Stone? It is the one tank I keep going back to lately now that I solved my endurance woes. I know others with this build exist but I never see them. Also, people are always curious about it b/c it is fairly uncommon. It does not play like any other tank I have and the mitigation is so fun and makes it a very "tanky" tank.
  15. Question about the Justice Tanker Tuesday. Fire themed? Can either the primary or secondary be fire? i.e. Dark/Fire tank?
  16. I played on a PUG the other night with a team doing the Heroside final alignment mission at +4x8. The lead tank had that combo and it looked like his health bar never took a hit most of the night. When I asked him about it he said that he it will never deal DPS but Iceslick and WP are an awesome combo. I have since been thinking this combo with pyre epic (Fireball) might be fun.
  17. Yeah I was already softcapped and did not trade off the softacap to accomodate the medicine pool (aid-self is gravy). Regarding keeping hibernate...it only took one slot and I was not sure how I would like Aid-Self. I may respec out of it later but TBD.

To clarify, the Ice tanker was very competent on the majority of content. However, I would not have expected him to survive as easily as say my Invuln/DM or Granite tanks on that rare but exceedingly difficult content. The addition of aid-self put me much closer to those tanks is my experience so far.

Anyway, just seemed like aid-self made a great tanker even better at tanking.
  18. Hi All,

I have always prioritized building a independently tough tank and never bothered with the medicine pool and very often skip the tier 9 god modes some primaries offer.

As much as I love my Ice/Fire tanker (with capped hp, def to s/l/n/e, high regen and etc...), I have always felt like it was not quite as tough as some of my other tanks on the most demanding content. I have always felt like heavy debuffs, or a few lucky shots from +3 to +4 content could put my Ice Tanker in trouble fast.

With the free i19 respecs, I have been tweaking the build and added aid-self. Suddenly, I feel like this tank has improved its survivabilty by at least 1/3. This one addition has now made this tank so much more fun to play for me now.

How about you all? Any of you ever use aid-self on your tanks?
  19. I normally don't play Taxi in my tank- but understand your point of view. However, I would not take whirlwind whatever you do.

If I had to take a stealth mode. It would be SS and 1 Stealth IO. That gets you near inviz to all except rikti drones and the like. Also, it will save you slots and wasted powers. You just have to remember to engage granite back in a smart location on the map while you Taxi the team to your location.

I agree with post 4. I don't think granite benefits the same way from DM- granite penalties can only be patched so much (especially damage).
  21. I would say stone is second best XD and Invuln is best if it is paired with a complimentary secondary like Dark. Gasp XD.

Seriously, I love my stoners but they come with a huge cost and penalties. With my Invuln/Dark I get capped S/L/N/E/F/C, capped HP, self heal, and etc... With this combo I get to have my cake and eat it too.
  22. I have a Psi Energy Blaster I took to level 50 earlier this week on mostly regular IOs minus the KB and a couple of others. I took powers that I thought were interesting as I went so I could get to know the powers better.

This build will be for PVE and likely at range when I can.

Here are some of the key stats-
    45% Ranged
    35% S/L
    234% Regen
3.24 End (without accolades turned on)
30% haste without hasten engaged (i do have hasten btw)

What do you think? I could easily get around 41% on s/l and ranged to get both about the same level. I could get 45% on s/l at the expense of ranged. However, I am thinking that with Energy and Ranged capped I should not have to worry much about mez. I am just not 100% sure which direction to take the build.
  23. I tried it once and then respec'd out of it. It sat on my tray and never was used.
  24. Good Luck. Took the build down to tinker more.
  25. I agree with the defense approach too. I find if I have nice ranged defense, my mez issues deminish quickly. A lot of all human WS use this approach for dealing with mez. YMMV.
