Quote:I find it silly that the common argument to the difficulty essentially boils down to "learn2play" even though I and others can provide examples where Praetoria at times can be overly hard to a new player.Quote:Fortunately dying once in most cases resets the aggro so you can then mop up.
Still, I'm not sure this is how the game is supposed to work.Quote:I am sorry, despite what experienced players may think - for players new to MMOs.... Praetoria may well be a problem. I know had CoV been anywhere near this hard when I came in, I would not be here chatting now.
Also, just when the teaming gets rolling, suddenly you're thrown the "SORRY ONLY YOU" monkeywrench. I totally understand why they do it, but it's still jarring.
And when did you have to start clicking on characters twice to actually get missions? I was all, "That's nice, but no missions? Now what?" until informed otherwise by someone.
Marcian's girlfriend notwithstanding, I'm not sure many vets realize what new players (especially casual ones this game seems to draw) are going through.

We'll never know the data behind the business decisions that caused Paragon Studios to come out with Praetoria (levels 1-20) before they came out with the much-requested "end game" stuff (50+), but I'll bet it has more to do with someone like me, who's a steady subscriber and plays alts that take around 500 hours to reach 50, than it does with people who take a week or two to get to 50, get bored, and unsubscribe until the next issue.
I'm not saying that your desires aren't important, but a smart business goes where the money is, especially if they have the data to prove it.

Awesome, Ashcraft, very well done!

Ok, for some reason my puny mind was overwhelmed by all the stuff in the patch notes, and I was under the assumption that "Information" was now the new catch-all term. Once I finally made it to Paragon City, I noticed my "Information" had suddenly converted to "Influence". Huh.
Quote:AWESOME!Obviously they needed to brainstorm more words starting with 'inf'.
Quote:See, I could agree with you if you weren't okay with infamy and influence. If you agree that influence and infamy is a currency I can't see why you can't agree that information is currency.
I would argue that information is even more like currency than influence and infamy.
Quote:I know this is about information and all that, but I have a complaint and I'd rather not start a new thread for it.
People using Ninja Run. You look foolish. Please stop.

Quote:I propose renaming all 3 to cred (or street credibility for a longer term).

Quote:So Praetoria is like Star Trek and no one uses money. Fine. Doesn't mean I can't hate it.Give me a character and I can make up, on the spot, why they would trade their services for Information.
Full disclosure: I'm a fanboi and non-RPer. I don't tend to think about RP aspects. All I know is I spend money to buy stuff, and I have to earn money before I can buy stuff.

I loved that he tried to kill himself by jumping off a building... and couldn't.

Ok, as much as I love Going Rogue and Praetoria, can I just say how much I hate "information"? Yes, I know they're trying to tie "influence" and "infamy" together, but come on, bite the bullet and call it SuperCreds or something, already.
I use it to buy stuff. It's money. I don't spend information, I spend currency. (And I have a hard time believing Serge is so hard up for gossip that he'll trade "information" for fabulousness.)

Quote:I may be mistaken, as I've been soloing, but I think if anyone on the team clicks Mission, then the More... button, they get to read everything up to that point. Although they don't get to read the clues.2. Add way for teams to read dialogue and what the leader clicked.

I'm avoiding teaming so I don't outlevel the arcs I'm working through. I love how the contacts have such distinct personalities.

I haven't seen any new players since GR release, but that's because I've been nose-down soloing my new character in Praetoria. I didn't do beta, so this is "me" time right now.

Quote:Not jaded. There's no content in this expansion I really care about. That's not jaded, it's just a statement of fact. I despise playing the pre-20 game and the vast majority of the new content is pre-20.
Quote:I'm going to side-switch my villains and then run tips to grind loot for my heroes while waiting to see if the devs fulfill their promise to make Issue 19 about existing players and not asking us to pay to help them chase newbies.

Quote:Same here. Although I do have an arrow/arrow defender stuck at 46, that only got there by force of will, that I really just don't like and never did. We'll see what happens.I can't imagine deleting a 50 though, they only get there if I really love them ;-)
Quote:Same, except that I only have the two (one Hero one Villain) after SIX+ years. I don't play them but I won't delete them.

Quote:Pretty much all of this.Yep, I generally know where the spawn points are, common glowie locations, and I can often recognize a map layout after a room or two.
Any variety in these patterns would be welcome.
Edit: Which is why I'd rather have new mission maps than new zones.

Welcome back, Clorius. Glad to see so many of the "old timers" returning.

Quote:Plus, many of these same people have played Champions Online and have seen the awesome back/backpack items there.People think it is going to be more back items every time something big comes around because it is something a whole mess of people have wanted for a very long time and a part of the character costume that can be greatly expanded simply by adding anything. Seriously. All we have are capes and wings.

You know, if the devs want to stamp out players making copyrighted characters, they should just have the NPCs go all "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (pointing and wailing) at the offending character.

Quote:Hey! You shut your damn dirty mouth!Everything dies. Either spend your time worrying about dying or spend it living. The servers WILL get shut down one day. Mergers are NOT going to sustain it. This game, like every other game out there, will eventually end.
