My (so far) only Praetorian character was a mastermind. I made it through the first ten levels just fine. Then started dying. Repeatedly.

Also, just when the teaming gets rolling, suddenly you're thrown the "SORRY ONLY YOU" monkeywrench. I totally understand why they do it, but it's still jarring.

And when did you have to start clicking on characters twice to actually get missions? I was all, "That's nice, but no missions? Now what?" until informed otherwise by someone.

Marcian's girlfriend notwithstanding, I'm not sure many vets realize what new players (especially casual ones this game seems to draw) are going through.

  2. We'll never know the data behind the business decisions that caused Paragon Studios to come out with Praetoria (levels 1-20) before they came out with the much-requested "end game" stuff (50+), but I'll bet it has more to do with someone like me, who's a steady subscriber and plays alts that take around 500 hours to reach 50, than it does with people who take a week or two to get to 50, get bored, and unsubscribe until the next issue.

I'm not saying that your desires aren't important, but a smart business goes where the money is, especially if they have the data to prove it.

  5. Ok, for some reason my puny mind was overwhelmed by all the stuff in the patch notes, and I was under the assumption that "Information" was now the new catch-all term. Once I finally made it to Paragon City, I noticed my "Information" had suddenly converted to "Influence". Huh.

Honestly, I'm not ok with any of 'em. But that's my personal bias.

I would, but it's just so dang convenient and handy. I'll put up with lookin' silly to get where I'm going and not taking two travel pool selections to do it!

So Praetoria is like Star Trek and no one uses money. Fine. Doesn't mean I can't hate it.

Full disclosure: I'm a fanboi and non-RPer. I don't tend to think about RP aspects. All I know is I spend money to buy stuff, and I have to earn money before I can buy stuff.

  8. Ok, as much as I love Going Rogue and Praetoria, can I just say how much I hate "information"? Yes, I know they're trying to tie "influence" and "infamy" together, but come on, bite the bullet and call it SuperCreds or something, already.

I use it to buy stuff. It's money. I don't spend information, I spend currency. (And I have a hard time believing Serge is so hard up for gossip that he'll trade "information" for fabulousness.)

I may be mistaken, as I've been soloing, but I think if anyone on the team clicks Mission, then the More... button, they get to read everything up to that point. Although they don't get to read the clues.

  10. I'm avoiding teaming so I don't outlevel the arcs I'm working through. I love how the contacts have such distinct personalities.

  11. I haven't seen any new players since GR release, but that's because I've been nose-down soloing my new character in Praetoria. I didn't do beta, so this is "me" time right now.

Same here. Although I do have an arrow/arrow defender stuck at 46, that only got there by force of will, that I really just don't like and never did. We'll see what happens.

Same here. I have a grand total of two villains (24 dominator and 28 MM) that I started when COV came out and haven't played in years. But I won't delete them.

    Pretty much all of this.

Edit: Which is why I'd rather have new mission maps than new zones.

You know, I would have said the same thing, until last night, when I teamed with a guy that literally took two minutes to zone or load into/out of a mission. Ye gods.

Seriously. All we have are capes and wings.
Plus, many of these same people have played Champions Online and have seen the awesome back/backpack items there.

  19. You know, if the devs want to stamp out players making copyrighted characters, they should just have the NPCs go all "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (pointing and wailing) at the offending character.
