Quote:And how many prime time downtimes have you had since I21 went live? Thought so.OOOOHHHHHH I know!
Lets not do any server maintenance ever to interrupt anyone's game time and when the servers break really hard we can have no game for weeks, ya that's better. You all are so right!!!!
We realise downtime happens and why, we're just a tad sick of the amount of it that's happened during our prime time lately. But by all means, continue to be a ***** about it. -

Quote:I'm hoping for this timetable as well. I still have plenty of new stuff to play around with in the meantime, but Dom is still my favourite AT and I'd love something new for it as well.My wild guess would be that at least hints will come within weeks, and whatever-it-is will come out with 21.5. If they intended a longer wait I would have expected them to proliferate Illusion instead of giving Doms nothing this round of proliferation.
Regarding Illusion, having played through some of the First Ward stuff now and seen some of the Carnival of Light in action, I noticed that their powers looked like they could have been taken from a Light Assault set. Which then got me thinking, maybe they were working on a Light Control set to go along with it and that's what Dom's were getting instead of Illusion. I know they've said that they'll eventually proliferate all sets but I'd rather imagine Light Control/Light Assault instead -
Quote:They would. But 8 Kinetic Defenders could do it 20 levels earlier with 400% Recovery as well to make it really ridiculous. Buff/debuff stacking in this game has always been pretty crazy.I dunno, not to the same extent. Wouldn't 8 times have 400% recharge at all times, just from the Tier 9s stacking?
I think the only thing different about Time is because is has such a varied back of tricks, when you stack all of them 8 times it becomes fairly ludicrous. But I doubt we'll be seeing it happen that often. How many all VEAT teams do you see nowadays compared to when they launched? I imagine Time will be no different. -
Be ye daft lad?! Ye want six hundred o' me dubloons fer swag I already own apart from a damn parrot? I be up fer robbin' folks as much as the next scurvy dog, but that be lunacy!

Quote:(emphasis mine)And yes, there is a bit of redundancy. The trainer exercise is a good example. You most likely have gone to your trainer a plurality of times before doing the arcs, the thing is, it's possible you haven't, and it's just a simple reminder that you should do it fairly often [and personally, the villain dialog for being sent back to the Arbiter is hilarious imo].
Is it possible? I was only given Twinshot as a contact after I'd gone to the trainer and chosen my level 6 power. I haven't tried talking to her between dinging 6 and training but I assume she wouldn't talk to you?
Overall, I think the tutorial should teach you a few more things like others have said (conning, slotting and combining enhancements primarily) and the timing on the Twinshot arcs needs adjusting. Maybe make her the initial contact for AP who then introduces the current one at the end of the first arc? And move the next two arcs to 5 and 10? -
And my childhood dream of going to outer space by playing arcade games gets one step closer to reality
Seriously though, that's some pretty amazing stuff. It will be really interesting to see what else they can do with this. -
Quote:I guess my Time/Sonic Defender called Dr When will offend your sensibilities thenTime Manip for the Doctor makes no sense. He doesn't manipulate time apart from using his TARDIS to travel through it.
The Doctor is a MA/Regen Scrapper. The Third Doctor was an expert in at least two different forms of Venusian Martial arts, and of course, he patently regenerates.
Giving him Time Manip powwrs just because, ooh, the set's got 'time' in it is like us having a Shapechange Into Bat power and making Batman tribute toons.

I'd rather they just moved the posting privileges bit down onto a line of it's own underneath the other two and let the breadcrumbs take up the majority of the top line like they used to.

Well people were predicting that Exalted would be an empty server, we just didn't realise this would be why
And same problem here, Exalted and Freedom are unselectable for me. I've tried clicking on random servers to change the list order but those two are always stuck at the bottom. -
Might be a bit hard since Exalted is at the bottom of the server list for me. And when I release the scroll bar it just jumps back up to the top

Quote:Heh, yeah this is true. And if that blog that leaked the power data for all the new sets the other day was in any way accurate, I have a pretty good idea how the next 5 new powersets will play alreadyWhile I expect them to release general info on the powersets, some people here seem to be forgetting something important.
The forum. Within weeks after i20 was made available to the public, certain number crunching players released all the info we could possibly need, and then some. Some of this stuff was stuff that the Dev's didn't even make available to see in game.
So do not fret, if the Dev's fail to give you whatever you need to know about the new powersets, you can rest assured people on here will go over, in detail, all the powers in the new sets.
But I was thinking more for people who don't frequent the forums or want to buy the powersets the day they are released and are too impatient (like me) to wait for the number-crunchers to do their thing. -
I had a few problems on the Doms that I ran through there. Those Destroyer mobs with Integration were a pain outside of Domination. And some of the EBs too but I think that's more just Doms and EBs in general (if you don't have a tray of purple with you).
Other than that I don't remember anything too horrible. Except for one or two missions with those 10-wave ambushes of course -
Quote:I got the impression that the OP was referring more to after Freedom releases. Say in a couple of months when they add a new powerset to the store. As far as i understand from all the ustreams i have watched and the comic con videos. We as in the players should be able to try Freedom before launch. Which will or should give us access to test out the new power sets.
At the very least I'd expect to get access to the real numbers, clear descriptions of how any special mechanics work (Street Justice combo system, Titan Weapons momentum etc) and a video of the animations. I should probably be able to get a fairly good idea if I want to try out a set from that information alone.
Since they're giving us the ability to try out costume pieces we haven't bought yet on our characters in the character creator, it would be great if they could extend this to powersets. That way we could preview different weapon models for sets that have them or different colour customisations for sets that allow it.
And access to the powersets on the test server for those that really want to take them for a test drive first would make a lot of sense too. -
The only problem with Plant is that it might spoil the other Dominator primaries on you it's just that much fun
I've been leveling a Plant/Earth Domi over the past few weeks (in the 40s now) and it's been great fun. If you build for a high recharge/permadom build Earth has a pretty beastly single-target attack chain with both the mallets and Seismic Smash. Having another single-target hold is just gravy.
The AoE is pretty much taken care of by Seeds, Carrion Creepers (throw a couple of procs in there and it's awesome) and Roots. If you open with Seeds the mobs tend to bunch up after a few secs and then roots will keep them close to each-other and bashing away rather than running around trying to decide who to hit next.
But whatever secondary you go for you should be fine with Plant. Just remember to water and feed Audrey regularly. -
Quote:That's a fair point that I hadn't thought of, and it definitely makes my low-level Defenders lives easier when I play them. But that didn't exist 7 years ago either1 word: Vigilance.
As much as that inherent sucks, at lower levels, it adds up fast having upwards of 60% endurance discount on all your powers.
Controllers don't have access to that, and at lower levels its much harder to keep the entire team at 100% hp, so a defender is going to get some kind of endurance discount, where the controller wont.
Granted, its not really something to count on, but even on a empathy defender its difficult to keep everyone up and running, and when you falter, you get extra endurance to play with in the process.. Maybe the End cost for Controller secondaries was higher back then or something. I only started playing with I3 (EU launch) so missed some of the craziness of the early game.
Quote:Just a quick suggestion to those still keeping this thread alive arguing. Please read through these threads..

The OP has, as you can see if you looked, a tendancy to start a thread and then despite overwhelming evidence that he MAY not be right will continue to argue and argue and argue his point...
Nuclea makes a very valid point in referring to the OP's reference to a character he managed to level to 10 and then deleted more than 7 years ago and now seems perfectly content to base opinions on how that AT works today based on that.
I strongly suggest .. just stop posting here. -
Quote:It makes about as much sense as your assertion that Controllers are bad healers based on an Illusion/Empathy Controller you got to level 10 seven years agoWhy exactly are you talking about level 50 and incarnate content when you quoted me as talking about a level 10 character who was deleted 7 years ago? And the other post mentioned IOs which again isn't reliant to a 7 year old character.
Edit: Just out of curiosity I loaded up Mids to check the End cost of heals and the values of the buffs in Empathy for both Controllers and Defenders. It's showing the exact same values for both ATs. I checked the numbers on RedTomax and it's the same there. Is this correct? I just assumed that both RA's and AB would have higher values on the Defender.
The point of that was to see if there was a reason your /Emp Controller would be running out of End more quickly than an Emp/ Defender. But looking at the numbers the only difference you should see are the heals being a bit weaker on the Controller. -
Quote:I said this to a friend a while back, but since they made the changes to Domination so it no longer boosts damage I think that the inherents would make sense if they reversed themWho is more sadistic?
The Dominator, who can reach into their inner reserves and trigger a boost in their powers, or the Controller who's just really good at hurting people when they're tied up?
The whole idea of Containment and doing more damage to a foe you have in your grasp seems to fit the concept of the Dominator very well. And I can see a Controller using Domination as them digging into extra reserves of power after the fight has dragged on for a while and they've finally had enough. Seems quite iconic and something I've seen in superhero comics/cartoons lots of time. Just swap the names obviously and you're good to go.
I don't ever see it happening mind you, I just think from a conceptual standpoint they make more sense to me that way. -
Quote:Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but are you saying that Ice Control's Immobs don't cause -KB. If so, when did that change? Or am I going completely crazy and misremembering things again?*snip*It makes sense for Earth and Plant control to physically attach foes to the floor, and it intuitively if not mechanically does for Ice as well (having powers that negate your own Ice Slick is more than a little stupid, so it's definitely a good thing that the immobs don't actually behave that way), but Electric Fences leave me scratching my head.
Edit: Does anyone know if it's possible for the game engine to do a pull effect? I guess a negative repel would be the best way to describe it. I was just thinking a power that worked like Telekinesis from Mind Control but in reverse so actually gathering nearby mobs around the one you targeted would be a nice set-defining power and in keeping with Gravity's concept. -
Quote:I remember something like this happening a long time ago when I made a Dark/Sonic Defender. If I had a mob affected with Darkest Night and then added the -Res from the Sonic attacks the damage from his attacks would drop further. I assumed it was something to do with the mobs resists resisting the -Dmg debuff and therefore the Sonic -Res allowing more of the debuff to work. Or something.Hmm. Are we actually talking about the same thing here? It sounds like you're talking about the damage debuff making the *resistance* debuff stronger - I was looking at it the other way, the resistance debuff making the *damage* debuff stronger. I think I'm going to do some experimenting when I get home today.
At that point I think I got a headache, either from trying to remember how damage and resistance interact in this game or possibly from the Sonic attacks and went to play another alt -
Rewind - Teleport to targeted location within 40 feet and rez yourself. For those times when you're solo and the damn mobs won't get off your head to let you use a wakie.
Record - Store a copy of your next 3 single-target attacks (but no power can be recorded more than once) in a temporal buffer.
Play - Unleash the attacks stored in the temporal buffer at the targeted mob. ~1-2 minute recharge. -
Reminds me of the time I was doing the blueside respec (the Sky Raider one) on my Rad/Rad. She was my first 50 and this was when I was leveling her so it was shortly after EU launch.
We got into the reactor building and after a wipe or two at the first doorway, the leader who was also the tank told me to "stop using that green s**t and just heal!" I tried to explain that the "green s**t" was what was keeping us alive a lot longer than my crappy AoE heal but he was having none of it (I just love how there's always someone in an MMO who knows how to play your character better than you do, despite having never played those powersets).
So I dutifully stopped debuffing or blasting and just spammed my heal. And of course the team wiped in about 10 seconds flat as I was the only support character on the team. Finally after a few of these wipes I asked if I should start using the "green s**t" again and got a grudging "Fine" from the leader. I don't know if we actually completed the trial (but I rather doubt it) but if nothing else, at least 7 people on Defiant got an object lesson in the power of Rad's debuffs that day. -
I guess C since I loved picking up my friend when he'd get trapped in a bubble in DCUO and throwing him down the street
