To elaborate on this, I think originally you were supposed to do TFs in multiple sessions. This becomes even more apparent in the Shadow Shard TFs. Of course the dooming flaw is that that would require lots of planning and with various people of various schedules of free time and it would bar everyone who's not in an organised-enough SG to ever do Task Forces.

So naturally the players circumvented this issue by playing TFs in one sitting. The devs noticed that behaviour and realised that longer does not equal better, so eventually new TFs are short but sweet, generally gravitating around one and a half to two hours.

Long story short, the devs actually look at how players play the game and make new content accordingly. Multi-session TFs are just horrible to organise and nobody cares for that so instead we get one-session TFs that, might I add, also have less filler content.

    PB forms

Well, I have a tri-form Peacebringer, slotted only with generic IOs, and generally speaking, she's doing well as long as she's on a team. My slots are pretty evenly spred out so when I solo, I do feel really squishy, but when I'm on a team Cosmic Balance makes a lot of a difference.

So from my purely subjective experience, I'd say a tri-form Peacebringer is entirely doable, but to get the most out of it you wanna be a team-player.

Can't tell you about twin-forms or human-only builds, though. Chances are a human-only build might just solo better because you're not facing a slot-drought, though.
  3. You know what would be interesting to see? A run-down of all Issues and how much "content" they brought in terms of missions added to the game. I'd do it myself, but I'm already content with the content we're getting.

    Well, why is it awful?

I'm personally ambivalent towards the idea. It would be a nice gift horse, and while I don't know how much money NCSoft usually makes with server tranfers, I don't see them being quite that generous.

Still, though, it's a better alternative to merging the servers. Not that that needs to happen, either, but we all know that MERGE THE SERVERS comes up every week or two.
  5. I generally don't go that far out of my way, but whenever I see a low-level toon without any vet badges, I make it a point to spare a few mil worth of Infamy.

Then again, I rarely hang around Mercy Island, so that's a rare occurence.
  6. Your first suggested idea is a TF that PUNISHES another part of the player-base for succeeding. This is quite probably one of the most horrible ideas I have heard.

But hey, let's ignore the AE. It's virtually impossible for me to do a Numina TF without the Rikti or zombies screwing me over. It's not that they happen often, it's just that they know, they KNOW, when I'm doing that TF and decide to mess with me by making the super hunt mission even longer.

Having the actions of a couple of players effect an entire server is an iffy subject. If it's a purposefully negative effect because that couple of players lost, well, that just pisses me off.

Task Forces that effect the world are nice in theory, but ultimately there's a can of worms involved and I don't really want to see it opened.

Okay, what we really need now is a Kheldian Pride Parade.

May I point you to the closest "where is everyone?/is the game always empty?" thread? With the exception of Atlas Park, you'll only see Heroes at Wentsworth's, too. At this point it's almsot redundant to point out, but this is a heavily instanced-based game with almost no reason to stick around in the zones. True, the villain population IS smaller, but neither side has zones sprawling with player characters.
  9. Either way, my stance on this is, if you want level 50-60 content, why not simply make it level 50 content? In fact, this is one of those things that GR promises.

Personally, I always insist that CoH is not an MMO that's about hitting the level-cap. I like to call it an "enjoy the ride" game. That said, it also applies to 50s, as by the the time you hit 50, you likely still have content you have yet to do. I have yet to hit 50 and do all level 45-50 arcs and T/SFs.

Sure, eventually you will have done all content, but that will happen with every MMO. Content will always be finite and it will always be quicker to play content than to make content. Raising the level-cap doesn't change that, which seems to be the major illusion behind that. Oh, we have ten more levels! That means we have ten more levels worth of content! Technically true, but you can have new zones, new contacts, new story-arcs and T/SFs, even new raids without raising the level-cap.

What this means in relative terms is that CoH will have more end-game content than MMOs that do contiously raise the level-cap, if only because the old end-game content won't become outdated.

TL;DR: I would love more content, even end-game content, but I so no reason to make it so the old end-game content simply isn't end-game anymore.
  10. I share your pain as well. Except instead of accidentally adding an extra zero or two, I bought ten of an item of which I only needed one because I previously bought ten of an item and forgot to move the slider. That taught me never to made that same mistake, though.
  11. Noxilicious

    Kheldian Sash

Couldn't they just make the sash static instead of animated to make it easier? I guess that'll cause clipping issues, though.

I'd love to have the sash myself, especially because I have an "official Peacebringer" outfit of sorts fashioned after Sunstorm and Moonfire, but it's just not one of those pressing concerns, I'm afraid. I'll be happy if we get it, but if we don't, I won't be bothered.

    Go to Redside.

Well, wasn't Longbow officially made by Ms. Liberty to liberate the Etoile Islands? Of course the real reason is because she believes that Great Uncle Stefan can be safed, but Longbow is still thematically tied to the Rogue Islands.

And I don't think Arachnos existed in the game before CoV came out. The only zone with Arachnos in it is Faultline, no?

Either way, yeah, I'd like a greater Arachnos presence blue-side, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say in another thread that what others find challenging you find simply tedious and frustrating? I think it was in one of those "why red-side is better" threads.
  14. Considering that Hunt missions are by far my least favorite type of missions and I often just auto-complete them, I'm not sure I want street-sweeping back.

I am pretty much entirely with Samuel on that one, so I'm not gonna repeat what he says. I'm not gonna oppose the idea of havingSecurity Chiefs handing out hunt missions, either, but honestly? If people wanna repeat the same completely generic content, they'll be doing radio missions before they'll do a series of hunt missions.

I appreciate that you want a heroic feel, but I'm not sure jumping into a dumpster or back-alley while entire gangs follow you, upon which your team-mates will unveal their trap and shoot'em in the back was the pinnacle of heroism to begin with.

If the fun of a TF comes from being done with them as soon as possible, I'm not sure "fun" was ever meant to be part of the equation.

I will never be able to accept the Citadel TF as an actual TF. In no way can a TF that repeats the same mission over and over and explains it as "explore this Council base. Now this one. Now that one" be called quality. It's a single step up from AE farms.

This pretty much sums up my stance on this, too.

All my toons start out as character concepts in my head, a vague idea about their backstory, personality and goals and from there I work out costume and power-sets.

I also love Mids'. When I started out playing, and even today when I play without having made a build first, it can take me like ten to twenty minutes to decide on a power or where to place my slots. With Mids', however, I can have easily work out the progression of my characters and, ironically enough, I can carry on with my characters' themes without caring too much about build anymore afterwards.

This really seems to be a non-issue, but then again, you seem to be aware of that yourself.

Sure, a tetchy vigilante-type might rankle even at that, I suppose... but it'd be the last straw after 40+ levels of working with law-and-order types.
I dunno, after Indigo's arc I got rather annoyed at Crimson. He had a man kidnapped and tortured by Malta and ACTIVELY PREVENTED you from saving him, just to test the loyalty of his partner, only then to just say "oh, I totally trusted her all along". After that I had an easier time trusting Westin ******* Phipps than Crimson.

Anyway, that said, I'm sure you all noticed the blue Hero or red Villain tags that show up in your active mission list. Most, if not all, blue-side story arcs have the Hero tag while most, if not all, red-side story arcs have the Villain tags.

Now we know the moral progression goes Hero -> Vigilante -> Villain and Villain -> Rogue -> Hero, with Vigilantes and Rogues being able to do missions on both sides. Obviously you can only become a Vigilante/Rogue in Praetoria since blue-side has mostly Hero arcs and red-side has mostly villain arcs, but once you can freely go to the other side, I imagine if you do enough normal story arcs there, your status will eventually switch over to the other side.

Or I'm totally wrong and that's not how it works. It's all baseless speculation.

    open PVP.

This is a bad idea because 90% of the game takes place in instances. This is pretty much all there is to it.

Well, the idea is that the Skulls and Hellions ARE real villains that the PPD cannot keep up with anymore, so a hero like you, even a fledgling one, needs to step up to the task.

Of course, eventually the PPD got SWAT teams, psychics, combat armors, combat robots and even a dedicated Peacebringer squad, so that comment doesn't really ring true anymore.
  20. Knock Up attacks only work on female enemies, anyway.

    Lt. Sefu Tendaji

Actually, unless my brain's breaking down or something, I pretty sure he conned as a Hero when I fought him a week or so ago.

They need to stop making this game easier and definitely stop pandering to the lazy players. Epic archetypes meant something to someone who got their first toon to 50. Now, just like so many other rewards in the game, it doesn't mean much at all.
    Laziness =/= altitis.

If anything, the game encourages making as many alts as possible, not levelling a single toon all the way through. A move like that only shows the devs understand that.

    Jet Pack Vendors

Well, as Quinch has said, the Raptor Pack is slower than flying or other travel powers. On my sprint+swift+mental training/raptor pack Bane Spider I often miss having a proper travel power when my contact tells me to go to Primeva.

That said, your suggestion has already been made true. There's Jetpack Vendors in all zones that require flying to be convenient. Funny how that worked out, eh?
  24. Well, the obvious solution when something is too hard on a higher difficulty setting is to switch to a lower difficulty setting.

Especially in these economically difficult times, making a decision based on "it might be bad, it might be good, who can say for sure?" would be a sign of insanity.

There is such a thing as an educated guess. Assuming that new people won't shell out 200 bucks for an old game they have tried for two weeks at most when there's new shinies on the market is an educated guess. Assuming that long-time players will jump on such a deal so they don't have to pay anymore to play in the long is a safe guess.

You're doing the opposite. You assume that lots of people will see a six year old game they may have never heard of before (let's face it, unless you actively follow the MMO scene, you won't have heard about CoH. It's marketing team isn't really trying to make the public aware of the game) and shell out money they could use to buy an entire console instead, and that die-hard fans won't jump to the chance to play the game for what is after two years essentially free. That requires such an utter subversion of human psychology that I can only assume you are in fact posting from Bizarro Earth, where these things are common occurences.

For Life Time Subscriptions not to be disastrous a series of unlikely events need to happen. Hell freezing over first may or may not be included in that series of events.

You see, I don't know for certain that I won't be ***** if I decide to take a walk outside at night, naked, in the shadier parts of the neighbourhood, but I'd rather not take my chances.
