  1. Honorable Villains Exist, as do Dishonorable Heroes.

Good and Evil is tied into your goal.

Honor is tied into your tactics.

You can be a villain with a code of honor. You can be a Hero who completely -lacks- honor.

You can just not use the badge... I never use Demonic on any of my toons that have it. *Shrug*
  2. Trick Arrow is an interesting powerset. On one hand, it really captures that Green Arrow feeling, and it goes great with Archery.

But with the advent of Dual Pistols, why should we just limit Trick Arrow to Archery? None of the powers themselves explicitly require an arrow to work. In a world of supertechnology, you can easily make special cartridges for your ranged weapon of choice with the same effect.

So here's my suggestion... Replace Trick Arrow with a functionally identical set called Trick Shot, which is compatible with all "ranged weapon" sets, and bases it's animations off of the weapon you select for it. (You can use different weapons if you need to thematically, of course).

The powers will work the same, and the Bow wielding heroes and villains will be untouched, but the thematic possibilities will increase.

...Assuming this is possible, of course...
  3. [Supergroup]: Clarissa Van Dorn: Man... I'll never be able to get enough merits for that last recipe...
[Supergroup]: Julianne Thompson: Hey, if you email me your info I can farm merits for you?
[Supergroup]: Clarissa Van Dorn: Sweet! Thanks Julie! I've got class soon, so I'll just send it in a tell.
    [Supergroup]: Julianne Thompson: No problem!

Julianne Thompson has quit the Supergroup.
  4. Hmmm...

Well, this isn't so much something of mine, but rather something of my friend's which I am a part of.

His main, and one of my alts, are both Human/Snake Hybrids made by a Mad Scientist in an attempt to make Incarnate Super Soldiers. (Fun Fact: Stheno was an Incarnate. Play Operative Grillo's arc if you don't believe me.)

Anyway, my friend is a HUGE lore buff, so he expanded the lore given in the game a bit further. In his version of the lore, Snakes can actually tap into a sort of pool of Incarnate power formed from the combined Incarnate energy of every Snake in existence. This tends to manifest itself as Ghostly Blue Snakes (Which makes it -perfect- for the Leviathan Mastery Powerset.)

It also creates some issues when said characters happen to piss Stheno off for a variety of reasons (mostly by not being violent enough), which results in said power actually -turning- on them. And it also leaves them open to ever so subtle manipulation...

So within the dynamics of those two toons, it works really well.

But... Yeah. Everyone else says MA Arcs, I say RP Plot... Go Virtue.
  5. On my Villains it's usually Demonic Aura. Especially on my Brute, since with it on he's functionally invincible for about 60 seconds.

On my heroes it would probably be Eye of the Magus if I was a high enough level to get it...

    Recursive.

I was... actually going to mention that guy I teamed with whose strategy was to Self Destruct in a group of villains and then ask for a Rez, but that doesn't really fit...
  7. I got my copy of CoH for about $30.

You can get it for like... $5 at Big Lots if you're willing to put up with an old CoV box.
  8. I'm personally -really- excited for Level 20 EATs.

    I have Altitis. Bad Altitis.

I only have one level 50. All my other toons are below level 30, and I'm fine with that.

BUT, that locks me out of Kheldian ATs.

Yes, I have a little Rikti Fortunata named Rob that I need to get past level 5. But Kheldians? Sorry, your highest level hero is only Level 27. No Nictus For You.

But now, Hey! I can roll a WS or a PB! It's great!

If you've already gotten both EATs, that's alright.

    If you haven't, it's great.

And if they release more EATs? It's fantastic because it means that you'll be able to access them from the get go!
  9. The whole point of Going Rogue is to explore the shades of grey between "Superhero" and "Supervillain".

You also have to realize that Tyrant's story isn't unlike the stories of other dictators. Yes, some dictators take over Julius Caesar style, but some of the worst dictators in history (up to and including Hitler) were elected in an overwhelming majority by a desperate population.

So you have to think... is Tyrant really a reluctant leader, or did he simply pull the "Y'all need a dictator, but it ain't gonna be me" trick because he knew that he was a shoe in for the position?

You have to understand that, when you start out in Praetoria, it's not going to be immediately clear which path leads to heroics and which leads to villainy. I would be shocked if each path didn't have a split that pushed you toward red or blue without forcing you to go immediately to the Loyalist/Resistance side.

I mean, the Resistance might be Freedom Fighters, but their actions could also harm innocents, or even be considered terrorism by modern standards. Similarly, "Police" doesn't always mean "Secret Police". A Praetorian Law Enforcer doesn't have to be in Tyrant's metaphorical pocket.

What I would guess is that the difference between Praetorian Heroes and Praetorian Villains won't be whether or not you're a rebel, but rather how you behave in the Praetorian World.
  10. Well, I was granted my rewards (Yay!) and my problem is solved for now.

    Until march, anyway.
  11. I have a question?

    Praetorian Epic ATs!

We know that the normal EATs can only be made in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. (Because Arachnos doesn't official exist in Praetoria and... um... There isn't a Kheldian War going on, I guess...)

So would there be Praetorian Epic ATs?
  12. Considering I only have two main characters that actively go out and fight crime (in both the isles and Paragon), I'll save myself some time and just focus on them.

Duke (A.K.A. NightErrant my Brute/Scrapper) is the classic Guardian Type Superhero. He saves -everyone-. He does have a bit of a grudge against Crey (for putting him in the Zig after he stumbled on a few things about the Countess...) and the Rikti (since... you know... half of his family consisted of Midnighters. And his best friend was held hostage in a Rikti Prison Camp on the Rikti Homeworld for two weeks...).
The only group he doesn't fight (willingly...) is Longbow. Legacy Chain he can do though (There was an incident involving his girlfriend and some over zealous Chainers...)

Vince (Vincent/Vince Morse, my Stalker/Scrapper), doesn't have anyone he won't fight. In fact, he really, really, really, enjoys fighting. A lot. Especially Spiders. He -loves- beating on Spiders. And Hellions.

He hates Arachnos because he was a native of Cap Au Diable before he went Meta, and he hates Hellions because his main rival is an Ex-Hellion.

    That someone being me!

...Well, the CoV Box was due to the consolidation of CoV and CoH combined with a mass over printing, resulting in shops such as big lots buying the excess stock...

But still payed my 4 bucks! D:
  14. My Veteran Rewards box just has a link to the Veteran Rewards Page...

    My total time says:

Total Paid Time: 0 Years, 0 Months
Veteran Rewards Time: 0 Years, 2 Months

Which doesn't make sense, because I payed for this month! It wasn't a free month like my other ones!

It even says on the billing summary page:

    Jan 2, 2010 16806882 City of Heroes® [1 month subscription] $14.99 (USD) Paid

I'm sending a support ticket then...

If I could find the button to edit the one I sent in game on the website...
  15. Alright, so yesterday was my four month anniversary of playing COH.

I have yet to receive my 3 month reward...

My account history looks something like this:

    Quote:
    Trial Sep 18, 2009
Retail Sep 20, 2009 (Architect Edition)
City of Heroes® Good Versus Evil Special In-Game Item Pack Sep 30, 2009
Retail Oct 2, 2009 (Mac Edition)
    Perk Oct 12, 2009
    Perk Oct 15, 2009
    Perk Nov 12, 2009
Retail Nov 28, 2009 ($4 CoV Box from Big Lots, Woo!)
    Perk Dec 10, 2009
City of Heroes® Wedding Pack Dec 19, 2009
    Perk Dec 23, 2009
Wolfram Alpha says that equals roughly 4.1 months, or 123 days.

Now, there are two possible answers to this problem... Either

    A) My Friends are wrong and the trial period doesn't count, in which case I will receive my 3rd month tomorrow on the anniversary of my purchase of the game.

    Or

    B) At some point my Vet Reward Counter froze...

Either way, I'd like an answer (and my trenchcoats!) please?
  16. I'd recommend Virtue if you're into RP. Tight Knit Community, always someone to team with, lots of cool SGs. You can join if you don't RP, it's just that it's the unofficial "RP" server, so anyone who does RP tends to flock there.
  17. Yes, actually.

    There's my main (A Brute/Scrapper)
My Main's Cousin (A Corruptor/Soon to be made Blaster)
A partially riktified psychic my main rescued (A Dom/Troller/Widow)
The experiment that my main's cousin had a hand in creating (A Stalker/Scrapper)
And one toon unrelated to everyone else who happens to be in the same SG. (Brute/WS when I get a hero to 50)
  18. Did you have to do this on a Thursday?

While we were all off line?!

I'm trying to get a higher education here. D:
  19. My Level 50 Brute has no set bonuses. Just basic IOs. I could put a few sets in, but I don't have the cash, nor am I willing to farm for it.

Duh, because they're supposed to be aliens? It's part of the imagery.

Really though, it's the same principle behind the floating citadel or the warship. A fortress to hold a large number of troops that can be easily relocated.

They obviously weren't expecting it to get punched out of the sky...

  22. The generic rules are quite bad, in some cases...

I have a friend whose character name was "Mako Kino".

Unfortunately, she didn't know that "Makoto Kino" was the name of Sailor Jupiter's secret identity...

The only thing that "Mako Kino" and Sailor Jupiter had in common was the name. They didn't have anything to do with each other. It was a random fluke.

A Sailor Moon fan reported her and now she's stuck with this horrible generic name...

It's so bad that I'm actually -afraid- to report people for IP now, because I don't want to be the jerk who did that to them. Even when it's obvious that I probably should...
