The 63 Month Badge..Honorable

Thats a great badge, with a good reward.

Unless you're a villain.

HONORABLE?
You've got code in the badge names to differentiate between Male and Female characters?
Can we see that on the Veteran Badges for some of those names?

Instead of being 'Honorable' as a villain, that badge could be.. 'Underhanded'..

Or I'm sure y'all can come up with lots of ideas.. but.. I can NEVER see my villains wearing THIS badge as a claim to fame!

Key words bolded.

Different villains. Lawful Evil is very "in", as Esme Squalor would say.

I don't quite see the point in changing a badge title (which can apply to quite a few villains) just because you don't personally have a character of that type.

I always thought the Veteran badges were supposed to be more of a reference to the player, not the character.

If you don't think "Honorable" applies to any of your villains, all you have to do is not set it as their title. It's pretty simple. "Tank Smasher" doesn't apply to my empath, should that be changed? Some of my heroes aren't Trustworthy, Faithful, Dependable, or Loyal, so we'd better change all of those too!

So then, how would a dishonourable - and known for it, villain find anyone willing to work with them when their schemes require additional backup of a professional and not hired goon level?

A personal code of honour doesn't imply any level of personal morality.

If your villains are all totally amoral baby eating scumbags, then I can see where you may get irritated by the name of the badge, however, there's the same solution to this issue as there is to all the other badge titles that don't fit with a given character concept - Don't use it.

'Camel Snot' for example. Who in the name of the Holy Zarquon's Singing Fish is going to use that as a badge title?

Warning:

The above post may contain Cynicism, sarcasm and/or pessimism. If you object to the quantities contained, then tough.

Gender differences in badge names don't completely reverse the meaning of the title. Every Veteran badge has a name that is roughly analogous to Devoted, as that's what they're rewarding. Some of those synonyms are going to sound out of place on a villain, but a reward for devotion with a name like Underhanded would be the complete opposite of what the reward is for.

A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes."

As others have said, an Honorable villain is very common in fiction (less so in real life). The mafia are frequently portrayed that way and several famous comic book villains would probably fall under this (Lex Luthor comes to mind).

The veteran badges are rewarded on account.... Therefore point towards the Player and not the toon.

You are an honorable City of Heroes subscriptor/player/customer...

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

Call me crazy, but I've seen a lot more villains do evil for the sake of honour than heroes have done good for the same reason.

"Honorable" and "Evil" are not mutually exclusive traits. You can be both quite easily.

Others have given you the correct solution. If you don't like that badge title, don't use it.

Honorable Villains Exist, as do Dishonorable Heroes.

Good and Evil is tied into your goal.

Honor is tied into your tactics.

You can be a villain with a code of honor. You can be a Hero who completely -lacks- honor.

You can just not use the badge... I never use Demonic on any of my toons that have it. *Shrug*

Sirocco was so happy when he got that badge.
