Most Populated Server? Returning Player

Hello,

Me and my two sons are coming back to the game. We would like to start over on the most populated server. Can anyone tell me what that is? Much appreciated!

Champion. No wait... Infinity!

Perhaps Guardian or Protector?

That was very helpful. Thank you.

Freedom and Virtue are typically the higher populated servers.

What Clouded said.

Guardian is actually pretty quiet--more so for the villains than for the heroes. If you decide to start out on Guardian, you'll still find people to team up with on the hero side of things, and you can still earn giant monster badges and other achievements that require a lot of participating supers fairly easily.

Villain side is a different story. All the zones are very quiet, and almost no one participates in events. You'd pretty much be on your own over there.

I'll have to agree with Virtue and Freedom being the fullest, but freedom has the larger villain population of the two (by far). Victory also has its population and it's considered a good server for Task Forces.

You guys know that you're all a part of the problem, right?

What problem? Is your server empty? You can't form a full team for your Posi TF?

Then move, don't blame it on us.

Of course some servers have low populations, what did you expect from a six year old game?

Misleading the guy ain't helpful! He might wind up quitting, thinking the game has become a ghost town.

I only note one problem in this thread, and I'm replying to it.

Freedom and Virtue as being the "most populated" servers is technically true, and it REMAINS so because of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

People want to "be where the people are" so they go where the people are, which adds even MORE people to those servers. It's an endless cycle.

The only way to reverse it is to support "lower population" servers and show people how they can still have fun on those servers and still get a team easily no matter where they are.

Every time someone points another player to Freedom and Virtue, it perpetuates the cycle and increases the disparity.

Can't speak for freedom but Virtue is well populated and I never have a problem forming teams for any content at all. If you come to Virtue PM me for a list of resources that will help you out!

edit: PK is right as usual but the OP asked for the most populated servers so it's sort of disingenuous to try to direct them to the lower population servers in an effort to make them higher population servers.

Nope, I NEVER have a problem getting a full team when I want to. Others do, however.

Yeah yeah yeah, cry me a river.

You don't want players to "be where the people are"?
If you wan't to solo through the whole game or trawl for other players to team up for half an hour every time, that's your problem, don't try to push it on two new guys just because they don't care for your personal crusade to save all the servers as if they were beached whales.

I can understand that, but there's just better ways of encouraging people to play on a less-populated server than deliberately misleading them.

You could have just said something like, "Play on any server you like--as long as you use my guide to effective team-forming, you won't have to worry about how quiet a server seems."

Let the player make the decision after you give them this information. Providing misinformation to an honest question, right off the bat, is dumb.

You aren't as important as you may think.

And your answer is to lie to people to trick them into getting into less populated servers, directly against their wishes and possibly being very dissatisfied? I can't stand behind this.

i could understand if you had said that after telling him about freedom and virtue, but he asked a question, and you deliberately lied for your own selfish reasons, that was a jerk move. I play on liberty, i like liberty more than any other server, but if a person asks a question about population sizes, then he wasn't asking which server is fun, he is asking a question about numbers.

Mel Gibson says it best

We got Task forces, we got sewer teams, we got pugs and pvp, Hami and ship raids, it's never a dull moment of Freedom.

Thank you everyone. Its ok that the first responder in the thread posted that way. I understand how he feels. It isn't just about finding groups for me, but having a community to talk to and have fun with. I wouldn't care if the game was 1 week old or 5 years old, I know it sounds crazy but I prefer higher population servers.

To the first responder - we went to Freedom. At least you have three new players paying for the game who want to be part of things. We are excited by some of the new features that weren't here years ago. Maybe we will make characters on less populated servers after we get back into the swing of things.

It should also be noted that the server selection screen is ordered in a way that your last selected server is first, then the rest are ordered from lightest current load to heaviest current load. While that isn't necessarily who has the most players on for sure, its a good bet. Historically Freedom is heaviest followed by Virtue, which has more players focused on role playing.

Yeah, we are all excited about the expansion. I hope they keep improving this game, it is still the best superhero game out there.
