  1. The Mos dont take long and once people know what theyre doing just get quicker and easier. May as well make almost every attempt an Mo Attempt for a week or something.
  2. I cant read it without Mids, currently working over night at work looking to take my mind off of things. I think Lightning Field is woefully late as is taunt. If you can keep other people more efficient you level faster I find. Combat jump was good with just the +rechg although a KB prot is ok too but I think tough is underslotted. Dont plant IOs next to eachother for the sake of a bonus, consider how much of a buff IOs give to the powers their in too.
  3. Ideally on ITFs there would be some coordination between team members to get things done and consolidated in stages, quickly making things easy for people to decide what to do and who to help.

You can go from one team that just wasn't conducive to another that is immediately after. Sometimes some people have the builds for a playstyle that just ends up compromising those that don't.
  4. Given all the strengths that Ill/Rads have elsewhere in the game any weaknesses is possibly a balance welcome.
  5. I didn't bother with insps. I just weathered on reliant on team work. I'd imagine sturdies would do fine.

    Successful BAF

I've only done like 5 of these Baf trials before doing the Mo and seriously I think every go should be a shot for the Mo, I will try to see if that thinking will go cross other servers I do know people on them who are that way inclined.
  7. Because I like to see things as they might be to the OP and played one of 3 of my Firetanks on an ITF whats on SOs. She had to be sked up so mobs were between +2 or +3. It was hell. Hated it, suicide, no matter how much I love RotP it was over needed.

But nothing was completely conducive to Firetanker survival, more important is other peoples survival so if I clock more defeats or my health bar is moving up and down more than everyone elses then its a good thing, what you cant help tho is when other team members shoot off into the next group when you know there is an ambush coming or you havent quite finished the group your on. I admit my perception was bad there seemed to be a lot of mist compared to when I play on other tankers, my field of view tended to be less than I hoped. Need to sort that.

Anyway the whole team could look back as well at what could of happened, people didnt have to charge off ahead and faceplant giving the team no contribution, people didnt have to stand next to me and share in AoEs and add to that if I wasnt sked up my threat level and aggro control could of been abit better to quickly snag aggro of off others when needed.

With a seriously failed ITF to my name (although it was finished) I immediately joined another what had no tank and played in that. Way, way better. Just get back on the horse.

  9. Well its something we could all tank with.

One thing I believe in is simply logging in to have fun, being stuck on one game with one toon with one goal would mean my soul is sold to a bunch of pixels on screen. To spend the amount required for that build would mean chained to the front of a pooter screen.
  10. I'll do this with my SR tonight. I think there will be moments where I would be better to back off, wait my time and engage again and so it'll be like going back to the days before defense got changed. Knowing ones limits and the enemies powers was often key to survival. Be nice to have to think with my claws/sr once again.

Update: On the BAF I have to watch that I use Practised Brawler and given the choice between Nightstar or Siege, fight Nightstar. Thats goin on nothing but my combat tab.

Yeah I only have women tanks because I believe in brains over braun..Having said that optional sounds would be nice. I tend to have the sound off when I play as the taunt sound enoughs me immensely -- oh thats why it works.

    Successful BAF

Been having nothing but successful runs with either trials on defiant. Every AV fight is done on tennis courts, saves people getting picked off on way to places as only one highly survivable toon needs to go get AVs. Then both AVs just get fought at courts an all. Good to know that when I come to do them on union I shouldnt have too many wasteful tries.
  13. I'd randomly play what I fancied until I came across players who I liked teaming with and also were comfortable in concentrating on their characters with each other, then I'd hang out with them with whatever toon filled some niche their team was lacking.
  14. I'd rather do a little bit more damage with phantom than get as much -def out of acid arrow as you're getting, but with acid arrow being stackable more rechg would be better. It's wingable.
  15. I think you can pull 2 slots from places to add recharge to build up and fiery embrace, from the H/E/R from healing flames and the +6% tohit from cj perhaps and then, blazing aura, I would perhaps go with multistrikes as it hurts your end rec. I know you'd lose some def but perhaps if you cared alittle less about aoe def you might boost it again.

Have you worked out your attack chain? Take a 20s fight duration (rough max per mob) then a 5 sec recovery time between mobs and see how soon you would need end and how soon consume is back up.
  16. Am not keen on your build to be honest. I think you could improve on the slotting and then worry about which alpha to go with. Better to land the best build you can muster and then see which alpha is useful.

Its the miracles in health and the performance shifter setting that I am not convinced with then after that you kind of lack endurance and either resistance or +hp.

If you get aid self you'd have somewhere better to put the miracles. Then perhaps its just the performance shifters that you're taking to get upto 53ish% aoe def.

You could also afford not to slot combat jump that way, one def would do and put two slots elsewhere lowering something else like the end cost of your attack chain, or better still getting better recharge out of build up and haste. Other people may probably have better ideas than me as it been a long day and am a bit sleepy and tired right now.
  17. Nicely done, hope everybody reads it otherwise there will be a fair few hours of my life wasted on it that I can't get back.
  18. I took your build and played with it for a minute. You now have with my play the same ranged def, increased aoe and increased melee def. Also 15% more recharge. All because 6 slots in health on a blaster makes me cringe. Second the 5 efficacies in stamina don't look too good to me but I need my bed now so shan't change more

  19. The more you attempt to finalize the build the bigger the response you're likely to get.
  20. As a Dev what soloes at times I rely heavily on Devices when soloing. I like to take out large groups rather than 2 or 3 mobs. So with that in mind sometimes I due to enemy perception have to use another tactic. This maybe where LRM comes in use. I am going to take down the whole group anyway so why not pull the lot?
  21. Some regard a Tanker using Manuevers as a 'failed build'. Why? It seems great to me and also buffs my team mates.

If I was to watch you play, and the team mates say, were always the same, careful, no nonsense bunch of players, then it is possible that no one needs you to have manuevers and you don't need to have it either. With a table top template game you have circle templates and triangle templates. They show the area of damage. Now if you as a Tanker dictate the battle and your team allows for it, then no one needs to be inside of what would be them templates. If no one else gets hit then manuevers, is superfluous. Now some people play to achieve that and in pugs don't fault themselves for how people play their characters. If people want to be taken down by aoes then they only need to be in the middle of them. There were other options but they didn't use them, their fault. If there is a better choice than manuevers given the mindset of someone who creates situations that can offer teams a chance to never get hit then they will choose something else. Something that is perhaps good in pvp like assault which will help them resist taunt and placate. There isnt a law that you have failed if you take manuevers, you just have a different mindset. I would personally avoid manuevers for something better.

I dunno what other peoples servers will be like but I am generally tripping over MMs with a taunt.
  23. I would just be the first in with Bodyguard mode on, Toxic Breath the group and work on debuffing the key hard nut of the group. This may not be good for a Brutes fury, you taking the alpha but its better in the long run for the output of the entire team and certainly Brutes can just from whacking things, taunting after and having their auras on keep fury up easy.

I think just with a TA as a Tanker sometimes its better to kite AVs rather than allow the AV to use their full attack chain and pbaoe on you and the team.

By kiting you could be directing cones off of the team, placing aoes on you and not the team although by yourself you should be getting single target attacks if you can't -range them with taunt, and really some AVs will always have that one attack but that at a low recharge might be a lot in dpa but poo in dps. Tanking that way will keep damage off of the team and so they don't need heals, which is good cos thats not what a TA does, you sacrifice your ability to do damage but the TA should be force multiplying other peoples ability to do damage and their survival means extra dps. I see some tankers positioned and the team getting killed as a result. The table top template game was never in their past, I'd rather sacrifice my damage so that the team can maximize theirs.

Going back to MMs really what you are doing is nearer the truth of what you should be doing. You're also doing what MMs should be doing, and making sure that not all attacks would be directed at the team.

TA can be involving kiting and scouting. I like to get just ahead of team to just get a flash arrow in or an EMP arrow in before some Brute enters perception range. It has too many scout/ranger powers not to be a scout/kiter. In another game that I know of it would be a Scout AT or atleast come from the Scout AT tree.

I have an end slot in my pets and 3 end slots in training them, endurance is not an issue but I will say that I didn't bother with Smoke Flash, end cost of 30 to start with a recharge of 20s can sting for what you're getting out of the Ninja.

I wouldn't of found the duoing part satisfying. For me defenders have to be in 8 man teams force multiplying what people can do. Then there is more of a result, faster levels and being in a party more fun.
