yah, that sounds right to me- I'll bet that's how it works.

the more I think about it the less sense it makes.

My guess is they made it 'opt in' to keep the people who didn't *want* it for whatever reason happy, but it doesn't take a power choice. We will be able to slot it at lower levels.

    Hopefully, anyway.
Given the specific definition of 'inherent' we have in this game it wouldn't make sense for them to have promoted it the way they have and then make it cost power choices.
  4. Triumph is my main server where all my highest level characters are.

I have some people on Freedom, from back when farming was kinda a pain and it helped to have a bunch of other farmers around who were willing to help pad maps and whatnot.

I had some characters on Virtue from way, way, way back- I made my first CoH character ever there, but we ended up moving to Triumph because one of my pals didn't get the memo and rolled his guy up there. Now it's the home of Fulmens' inf burning SG the Crazy 88's so I've made a few more $$$ related characters and have been spending more time back where I started.

    /edit
oh, and I have heroes and villains on all of them.

this place still has more direct dev/mod interaction that any other game I've been around. From my POV you're already getting "some".

I was around for the now-idealized eras of perfect comity and interaction, and what I mainly remember is how each of the mods now being hailed as some Hero of the Forums when viewed through the golden haze of nostalgia was in practice a very polarizing figure who (inevitably?) alienated and pissed off as many people as they made friends with.

What all this boils down to is that the people running the show decided to make a change and now we've got some butthurt types freaking out because they're not getting the hugs they feel entitled to.

If they've narrowed the focus of community interaction down to just promoting the game and keeping us in the loop on upcoming releases (which they've done a good job of from where I sit), great. I'm here for the game, not catching a buzz off rubbing shoulders with higher ups on the forums.

What would you have them do, go door to door to the hatful of posters harping on the impending dooooom of the game and give them a big hug and a mug of cocoa?

Because certainly anything as mundane as posting here on the forums would generate a wave of replies along the lines of "well of COURSE they say things are okay, what else would they say when things are obviously heading for disaster!"

It's like the old loaded question "when did you stop beating your wife?"
The only constructive answer is none at all.

    Actions speak louder than PR.
They've got two issues in the pipeline and will doubtless be providing some details at the NY comic con. This should do more to reassure rational players than some kind of forum announcement that no, the company isn't insolvent, yes, they're staying in business and oh PS, an abject apology for the party pack directed at the marginal types who've completely lost their minds because the devs tried to charge them eight bucks for emotes.

Not seeing what that has to do with Geko's comment.

Things that under-reward will be under-utilized, period. He's choosing not to run it again because it under-rewards and he isn't alone there.

All the feel good jibber jabber about camaraderie and socializing is beside the point since even players who love to chat and socialize will, generally, opt to do so in the pursuit of adequate rewards for time invested.

Yeah, people will run it 'as is' for various reasons.
But many, many more would be running it if it delivered a more acceptable reward payload.

There's no morality involved, it's just Gamer Psychology 101.
They like rewards and they will ignore stuff that doesn't deliver.

This is true, but also keep in mind that RoF becomes epic if you can keep 'em from scattering- my fire/ice blaster makes hay with it, caltrops from /dev would be nice, basically any 'slow' makes RoF shine.

Uncommons certainly aren't the vendor trash they used to be- they're definitely worth checking.

Basically, I advise checking *every* drop you get for market value until you get a good feel for what sells and what doesn't. I still check most of my drops and find things that surprise me all the time.

If all things within a given pool had an equal chance to drop, my tank would probably see way fewer Confuse sets than he does. Meanwhile my Mind Dom gets Taunt recipes all over the place. Hmmmm...! I remember when Evil Ryu was dead certain that ALL he ever got from TF rolls were Trap of the Hunter recipes.

He started a thread in the market forum to track what people *actually got* from their TF rolls. Lots of people joined in the fun, Ryu posted all the recipes he got, and after a while it became clear even to the most hardened conspiracy theorist that the TF drops were......random.

Ryu was sure all he got was garbage because all he REMEMBERED getting was garbage. When he started collecting hard data that all changed.

It's not often I ask people to emulate Ryu, but following his example in this case would do you some good.

  17. this could end up being like a CoH version of The Expendables!
  18. my first humble step on the market was vendoring rare recipes for the kingly sum of 10k each...I couldn't believe it!

If I'd known at the time you could vendor level 50 generics for 100k my head might have exploded.

I haven't got any high level guys on Virtue and would be up for some leveling to go with my eebil plotting & moustache-twirling.

The usual caveats of a parent with a toddler apply and I may have to go AFK at any moment for variable periods of time, but if you're okay with that feel free to shoot me invites. =)

If I were you I'd buy some generic IOs off the market, or craft some yourself. Unlike SOs they don't expire so you won't need to replace them unless you want to.
