Well, I know this much -- the scant rewards in DA aren't going to do much of anything to slow this down. It seems obvious to me that making the rewards in DA so slim virtually requires one to continue farming the iTrials.

Quote:That's funny, but my heroines are not "The Guy" either.I never felt the need to be "The Guy". That might make me some kind of unique snowflake but I kind of doubt that's the case.
My hero is not "The Guy" now, either. Once you leave the SSA, the world goes on like it always has. It's not as if anybody but me, the player behind the keyboard, is ever going to acknowledge my character's "guyness".
I get what you mean tho, and I agree with your whole take on this subject. -
Quote:Gravity geysers BAH. All they EVER did for me was pitch my superhero butt over the edge into oblivion. Either get a flight pack of some kind and save yourself some major headaches, or give yourself flight in an alt build if you don't have flight already. There's a hole in the force field facing the floating landmass, which you can fly through, or which the nearby gravity geysers should launch you through.
Gravity geysers... worst idea EVER. -
While that works, and is fairly common, it makes sending you a tell frustrating, and people give up after a while. If the character absolutely cannot change their name, then trying to contact the name holder is really the only option. A while back, I made a character I had to name "Heat.Sink" since "HeatSink" was already taken (she was a Storm/Ice def and the name was *perfect* for her concept). I sent all kinds of messages to this person and never heard back, so it doesn't always work. But I know it would have been very worth it to me to get the name from the current holder if I could have. Looking back on it now, with the trouble I've had from unobservant people about the "." in her name, I prolly should have gone with "HeatSync" or "HeatSynq" or something like that. Using something like a capital I in lieu of a lowercase L is just kinda asking for trouble, especially if you plan to team a lot. I guarantee he'll probably be passed over for some teams because of people not grokking that he used an I instead of an L.

Quote:Well, if this happens only in the iTrials, then I'm guessing that would make it an iTrial problem. Reppu did not make this clear in his posts, or I would not have challenged a claim to a behavior I would have no way of seeing (or not seeing) firsthand. But at any rate, as you make clear, this is NOT exclusively a problem with Beast Mastery "sucking", since other types of MM are having the same problem.Rather than dismiss Reppu's claims, you may wish to take a 50 MM into the incarnate trials with pets on Passive, and watch them aggro Maelstrom, Malaise, Seige and other hijinx. I did 4 trials last night on my 53 bots/ff with pets on passive, and since they did the last patch (correcting the Tutorial bug with the same behavior), my pets have been replicating that same buggy tutorial behavior.'
There is a problem, and it has been reported by other MMs. May your BM pets not suffer the same fate, I'm happy for you. But don't be dismissive of others. It may be related to BM, or not, but lets recall the impact that DS AI had on the rest of MM primaries. -
Quote:Really? Then why have I not ever seen this happen to my BM pets not even once in 20 levels of play so far?You did not understand anything. There is a legitimate bug right now where Defensive and Passive pets, once you zone into a mission, have been noted to randomly charge off. AND. PASSIVE.
The only thing I have seen even remotely similar to this is Tsoo Caltrops. They drive my BM pets insane. They run off (somewhere) and might come back if I spam the Attack key or the Follow key. They do eventually come back though, even if I do nothing to call them. I'm not seeing them randomly target and attack something way across the map, though.
But then again, I never seemed to have this supposed problem with mobs instantly running away when you attack them, either. Some people thought that was a huge deal too. Clearly, YMMV, probably based on the amount of hyperbole in the claim. -
Quote:No thanks, I had to slog through those huge maps when I played EQ. Never again. If we get more of Prometheus' Titan friends showing up, we might end up with a whole NPC group who are giants - I think it'd be cool to see their mission maps, with everything scaled to about 3 times our own size -there's be like huge hallways, and massive stairs, and rooms the size of caves, and lots of columns, with a sort of "techno-classical" style to everything - a sci-fi take on ancient Greek architecture.

Quote:I hope so, because I bought 2 24-packs of the Super Packs and got a whopping 3 Converters out of it.Something the wiki article doesn't mention, but they also drop off of any enemy at random, from what I noticed. Playing on the beta server on a level 12 stalker, I got one fighting Lost in Skyway. No idea what the drop rate is, but you should be able to accumulate at least a few through regular content.

Quote:I'm guessing you are meaning the one mission in Cimerora with the Cyclops and Minotaur bosses. I did that one without the NPC helpers just to get the badge (Knows No Fear) and my DB/WP scrapper had a heck of a time of it (just a t2 Alpha and no other incarnate slots). I never even thought about it, but I guess if you just don't kill both EBs at the end (or leave a boss somewhere and do kill both EBs), it would be a decent farm (not that there's nothing wrong with that, lol). That's a bit harsh and unfair calling it an exploit. You obviously are not familiar with the mission in question.
Characters who are not damage dealers but can provide AoE heals and buffs that can be used to full advantage in this mission to keep damage dealing NPC allies alive and fighting the massive mobs.
Damage dealing characters need to take it slow between groups so that NPC allies have time to heal between encounters.
Playing it as intended will provide maximum aid to the player with minimal effort. Rushing through the mission is a sure way to make things very, very difficult at the end. -
Quote:Well, of course they're phasing out shards. Shards are about all I've used so far and I'm now working on my t3 Alpha. Threads would have taken twice as long, easily. The Dev's mentioned in yesterday's coffee talk that Shards are being phased out entirely. Was more of a stop gap measure put in place to kick off the system. Threads will be the mainstay currency from here on out.
I have everything I need except the one rare component for my t3. And for that I need 4 uncommons, which need 60 threads each. Of course they're phasing out shards. -

Yes, and people who bought the CoV DVD Collector's Edition box even got a sample pack and an exclusive Statesman card.
I recently bought this because I wanted the Arachnos cape, and I was happily surprised to see the box also included all 7 HeroClix. Mainly because the one Statesman one I had out of the normal CoV box somehow got trashed. -
Quote:Stop it, stop it, you're killing me!A lot of NPCs tend to be friends, relatives, minor heroes, children, partners, when it comes to writing and roleplaying my characters.
Rushmore has his 'Cavalcade of Villainy' from back home in South Dakota. That includes CSA fangirl and empowered hero Confederacy Caroline, the man who inflicts 'why bother?' on his enemies Captain Apathy, crazed mastermind Ad Liberace, the four armed Communist Manyfisto and his eye-beam blasting partner in crime Red Glare, the easily angered by minor details Bridezilla, urban superthief and archer Robbin' Hoods, fallen basketball player and singer mutant Slamfunk, and the healing witch queen of the seas Sovereign Pacific.
(Overdosing a little on the LOL.Good job!)

Quote:That's some monster resolution there.
I had to turn my resolution down a little since I thought everything was too tiny on my 1920 x 1080. I can't imagine playing at 2560 x 1440. -

Quote:oooooooohh, creepy, good thing I didn't see that or that's probably exactly what I woulda done. I think it goes along with Mot undermining everyone's confidence and taking away their will to live. But my main is a /WP brute hero, and I got places to go, things to do and villain-types to defeat. The detail in DA is downright unsettling. When I was running around in there filming my trailer, just before I was done, I found something I'd never seen in there before, and it so freaked me out I had to stop playing.
Never mind the screams... the fog in Moth Cemetery... the sigils against the darkness... the faces in the War Walls...
But when my character found an abandoned baby carriage right outside the gates to the cemetery... if she could have, she would have sat right down on the ground and cried.

It even extends into the missions. The first couple of arcs I played I thought about turning up the gamma, because I couldn't see anything. I finally decided I'd muddle through, since my gamma is already higher than some people play at.

Yeah, I thought so, too. It left me saying, "But, but, but..."

Quote:Did you read his post at all?Did you read my post at all?
Yes, I know it doesn't need to support teaming, but that's beside the point. Why shouldn't it support teaming?
A lack of need is not a reason against.
Because DA is the solo Incarnate path. That's why.
You want to curbstomp everything? Then go play your normal content. DA is for solo players like iTrials are for teams. The devs just didn't want to hear the whining and sniveling that would ensue if they didn't make the DA content teamable. Because apparently, not everyone can solo.
I assumed teams would stay away from DA just because the rewards are terrible for team effort, and stick to iTrials. But no, here again, we see teams in a solo content zone, and then they whine that the solo content is not worth it to an 8-player team. Well, no duh.
So, by your position, can I assume you also think, "Why shouldn't iTrials support soloing?" Right? -
I rescued all three and only Gyrfalcon showed up in the last mission. And he died in the first ToV group. Never saw Director 11 or Slinger again. Go figure.
-
Except Gyrfalcon is a total wuss. After the first ToV group I was looking around for him. "Where'd he go?" Scrolling back I saw he was defeated in the very first group. Boy was I glad I wasted the time to free him so he could help me out in the last mission...

Quote:I've been reading this thread after my first day of solo incarnate path yesterday and I must disagree. Reasonable IS what we have now. I play usually mornings when iTrials are usually in the evenings. In the evenings, I'm asleep because I work nights, and therefore I'm up in the mornings. Yesterday I had my Alpha slot with a Tier 1 Musculature Boost in it. Now after two story arcs in DA I'm 2/3 of the way to my Tier 2. 2/3 of the way. How far was I along to my Tier 2 yesterday? Yes, 0/3 of the way. And that's just the components. I haven't looked, but it is entirely possible that I have enough threads (from before yesterday and added to yesterday) to get my third component for Tier 2. At this pace I could possibly have my Tier 3 Alpha by next week at this time (accounting for maybe not getting the rare table after a story arc), and finally have a Level Shift. On top of this, like the finest gravy, I am getting advancement to my Justice and Interface slots. Sure, they're still less than 10% each, but this is all after just ONE DAY.You have 25 level 50 characters already incarnated out. People who don't like trials would have zero right now (or maybe one with doing nothing but Shard conversions). Is that fair? How about having to take 30 times longer than you to get one character incarnated out? Is that fair? Is it fair that people who are actually doing stuff will get rewards slower than those leachers you complain of?
Basically, you've had your incarnates for a lot longer than people who don't like the trials, and farming the same content over and over again. When people were asking for a solo incarnate path, they were hoping for a way to do it at a reasonable (or fair) pace without having to farm. And that's not what we got.
I know my progress would be better if I was doing iTrials. I do not have much access to iTrials except maybe on weekends. To me, this is a REASONABLE amount of progress towards my Incarnate stuff for one day's work. I don't expect iTrial-level progress, and so, yes, this is REASONABLE progress. This is more progress on my Incarnate path than I would get on my level 1 to level 50 path in one day of solo content.
The only way this wouldn't be REASONABLE progression is maybe among the hardcore MUST-HAVE-IT-NAO!!! crowd. I'm used to slow progression soloing. This is reasonable progression. Would I like it to be faster? Of course, who wouldn't? But this IS reasonable.
