Which is why, IMO, it's always a bad idea to SK in a giant monster fight, unless you need level protection against the minions that might be in the area, or to increase your heal power. If you're a level 1 tank sk'ed up to level 49, you don't have the defenses to deal with the amount of damage. I finally figured this out when my level 50 scrapper kept getting killed by Lusca, but my level 14 blaster could take multiple hits.
This alone should be required reading for anyone who insists on being SK'ed as high as possible for GMs. (Ahem, Lord Winter.)

Most people just don't understand this. I've been treated like an idiot for bringing it up.

I have to agree, but recently having taken a claws/SR to 50 (or nearly so, she's 48 now), the one thing she hates more than anything is having an overeager controller on the team who insists on immobilizing EVERYthing. This makes Focus and Shockwave a little less than stellar. She's bought a trip to a hospital numerous times because of overeager controllers who don't know that Focus and Shockwave are what keeps her alive a lot of the time. The people claiming they are "helping" her by throwing down some big AoE Immob just because they can just don't see the logic in leaving the claws scrapper alone. The claws scrapper's target isn't going anywhere and it doesn't need any more CC. Finding a controller who makes a point of not controlling my mobs makes my day.

Yes, Focus and Shockwave are awesome.

Yes, beware of controllers who don't allow you to use them.

In Options, you can also set your windows to display in whatever percentage of normal you desire. Want them half size? Set Window Size to 50%. When I had my screen set to 1024 x 768 I set it to 85%, but when I got a new monitor and went to 1920 x 1080 I set them back to 100%.

This is Player Questions, so I'm questioning the players, not Paragon Studios.

There's no doubt I'll have to upgrade my 7800 GTX, but looking to the future, what NVidia card will let me play Ultra Mode in GR comfortably?
  8. I don't play redside very much and I only have one level 50 villian, a Merc/Traps MM. If I took this villian and turned her to the Hero side in GR, would I still be able to roll VEATs after that?

I believe the statue in Perez Park nearest the Galaxy City gate (the one with no hands) is also Galaxy Girl. I never noticed this until after I read this thread and then later zoomed past her and I had to turn around and do a double-take. She might be right behind M-1 for number of statues.

Dang. Time to upgrade, I guess. I still have a 7800 GTX that I love and still plays the game well.

What NVidia card would be recommended to use the Ultra Mode in GR?

    Test Guide?

Thanks for the helpful tips and the link.

I've never been interested in the test server before but with the GR beta, I'll be making the effort. It's all new to me, so I do appreciate the help.

    Text unreadable

Are you having a similar problem in other applications, or just CoX?

I'm tempted to blame this on a font file corruption, but if CoX is the only application having problems, then the font is getting corrupted after CoX gets a hold of it.

As was said, force a re-verify of files and see if that solves the problem.

Hi, NK, welcome to the forums.

I wonder if I know you. Back in the days before the internet, I knew someone who went by the handle NeonKnight on BBSes. Now if you have to ask me "What's a BBS?", then you're not him.

  18. I absolutely love the DA. Good implementation, and some much-needed "outside the box" thinking. Thanks, WW, for giving us something different.

I guess my main problem with the Halloween Event 2009 is the door mixup when two doors near each other are both engaged by ToTers. The second group (I'll refer to them as groups, even though it might be a solo player) coming to a door next to an already engaged first group and door will spawn their door critters at the first group's door. This happened without fail in PI (not sure about the problem in other zones, I haven't ToT'ed in other zones yet this year) and seems to be a prime opportunity for griefing. If you wanna grief someone, just head to the next door down from a soloer who's already engaged at a door (it's not so much griefing as helping their exp when done to a group) and click the door. Your critters will spawn at their door. Not sure why this happens, but it's a consistent problem in PI, at least.

Other than that, this year's Halloween Event has been a blast!

(On another note, I'm not seeing the lack of Jack this year, as some have said. My fav zone for Eo and Jack is Brickstown, and yesterday I led a team through 10 or so GM spawnings and Jack appeared 3 times. It actually seemed better than last year's event when you could easily go through 15 Eo's before seeing Jack.)

Yes, I've been kvetching about this for years.

At least now it seems this has been fixed for major story arcs. I believe you actually have to take the first mission now to get the book icon on major story arcs, but I haven't done any extensive testing to see if this is true. But yes, it is still a problem on the minor story arcs, but at least it's a little less of a hassle since you can have unlimited minor arcs open at once (at least I think it's unlimited).

I believe the true test of any character, even an empath defender, is their capability to hold their own.
    QFT.

I've never had a problem running the "Rescue a Midnighter" mission with any AT... yes, even defenders (/e eyeroll). In fact, since this arc is required for Midnighter Club access, it's easy for any AT to complete. The OP just needs to understand every AT comes with its own set of strategy and tactics. Sure, a defender can't usually steamroll through it like a scrapper can, but using hit-and-run and other tactics that are admittedly slower, it should be no problem to complete.

There's typically a big pyramid-room with a small wooden bridge entrance that's full of summoning portals; the hostage is generally NOT in that room. Look elsewhere, way in the back of the map.

That's really great and all, but I've done this mission numerous times on many ATs and many servers, and I have never gotten the Portal room in this mission. As far as CoT maps go, this mission is almost like a scanner mission, short and to the point. The maps are never really very large.

Maybe I've just been lucky, I dunno.

YES I WANT A BIG reward.
"Pats self on back for winning the challenge"... laughs at getting maybe 50K for finishing.... and a boron worth maybe 100K.....
Stheno is an AV, what did you expect? To just walk in and smack her down?

Also, please show me ANY level Science Endurance SO "Boron Exposure" worth 100k.

You also neglect to mention the 9 reward merits for finishing the "Snake Fest" story arc.

How well DO you know this game?

I'm sorry but your post is just light on the "challenge" part and heavy on the "reward" part. It screams the same thing as all the other posts that say "I'm in it for the challenge". That's bull. You're in it for the reward first, and just do what you gotta do to get it. You don't care about the "challenge". In fact, all the numerous boss farms in the AE just show the same thing. It's not about the "challenge" (they all try to reduce the challenge as low as possible)... it's all about the "what's in it for me?"

Well, to change the colors, you do not click on the circles next to the power. You click on the colors on the color palette that drops down after you change the power away from "Original".
