Hero Statue Characters?

I'm working on an MA arc about old heroes. How can I find out the powers of the heroes commerated by giant statues, such as M-1, Wayland, and Dauntless? I know Galaxy Girl was a Kinetic/something.

Also, who is that big guy saluting in the middle of Steel Canyon?

If I could find pictures of these guys in costume, that would be cool too.

They currently have no in-game appearance at all. Their powers are entirely up to you to make up, as all we have are simple plaques that tell us something cool they did. Their costume colors aren't defined either, so the guy saluting in Steel Canyon could be wearing hot pink for all we know.

So, you're just going to have to make stuff up. There is no information on them at all besides the few plaques scattered around the city.

Arc ID: 348998 - Becoming a villain
Arc ID: 373341 - To Save a Hero

Got Inf?

This is not the ideal place to be requesting this information. We as players probably don't know any more about these characters than you yourself do. Your best bet for this information would be to either post in Manticore's Fodder for the Canon Thread, here:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...63#post1074263

If that doesn't provide a response quickly enough for you, you could also just PM Manti himself. No guarantees that he'll respond, but that is probably your best bet at getting this information.

Just my opinion, feel free to disregard...

Do both, and hope for a CF response--send him a PM with the content, and let him know you're adding it to the queue. Excellent idea, re: the backstory of those statues.

That is also M-1. By statue count M-1 must have been the most beloved of all capes in the history of Paragon. I myself have counted at least 7. There's even one of him in the Rogue Isles!

though no powers are mentioned, you get the Tank Badge off of an M-1 statue, so its safe to assume...
Also, and this is really reading into it, M-1 in Galaxy City is in a classic Super Strength punching pose. What his defensive power set is, well, take your best guess.

This doesn't say much about powers, but have you seen this page?

I did some digging on information for some of the statues for a post in the Fodder for the Canon: Ask your lore questions.
The info is from the plaques / zone descriptions in-game FWIW.

What are the names of the four heroes who have statues in their memory at the four corners of Atlas Park?
Although the statues are generic and used everywhere, some of the statues are the same as in other zones where they are identified by plaques or zone descriptions. I'll see if I can dig them up once the servers come back up.

South East statue could be John Knox. In Steel Canyon the history plaque on the same statue reads:
This statue honors John Knox of the Midnight Squad, otherwise known as the Crimson Fist. Knox was among the many heroes to give their lives in the Rikti War, but he is best remembered for his efforts to keep Superadine off the streets. Using his powers of telepathy and divination, it was he who first linked the sale of Superadine to the Family.

North East statue could be Wavelength in a different pose. The large statue at the north end of the northern bridge in Independence Port is of Wavelength. It is mentioned in the mission text for "Assist the Security Chief in Independence Port", which reads "If you get a chance take a look at the Statue of Wavelength near the water. She was a speedster who fell in the Rikti War."

North West statue could be Mustang in a different pose. The large statue in the Rikti War Zone with the Ace badge has this description: "This statue honors Mustang, a valiant hero who fought during WWII."

South West statue could be Galaxy Girl in a different pose. Her large statue is in Galaxy City with a plaque that reads: " Kelly Graham never thought she was destined for greatness. That changed one night when she was walking home from work. She came upon an innocent woman being dragged into an alley by some masked men. Kelly called out for help, to no avail. As her fear and anger grew, she launched herself toward the alley. After a blur of flying, energy blasting, and healing light... Galaxy Girl was born!"

Also, the statue in the lake at Prometheus Park is of Wayland; his statue, and that of Cassiopeia and M1 are mentioned in the Galaxy City zone description: "Several breathtaking statues are found scattered throughout the district, reminding the residents of those who gave so much of themselves for the people of the city. The sculptures are all dedicated to heroes who made the area their home, and include Wayland, a self-proclaimed descendant of a Norse hero; Cassiopeia, the lovely psionicist; and M1, born and raised Matthew Barnes in Equinox, who enlisted during World War II and joined the 1st Hero Brigade."

Wavelength is too, I didn't stop to think how cool that was until now.

From right to left: Elementar, Vambrace, M 1, Dr. Mnemonic, Maiden Justice and Captain Indomitible as portrayed by successors to the names.

Awesome! But is this canon? I mean, it's obviously a nice gesture on the part of players, but how do we know what ethnicity everyone was?

Um, Vambrace was a pair of white guys. The primary brain behind the suit was a nerd in a wheel chair. His friend/best friend was a jock, and he wore the suit (as of the time of the "Web of Arachnos" novels which was shortly after (few years tops) after Recluse and States got their power.)

Can't remember if they mentioned Elementar/(Elemenstar?)'s ethnic background, but his profession was a weatherman.

I flew a character up to the face of the Steel Canyon statue. (I was trying to figure out what costume pieces were used for the figure.) When I took a close look at the wide nose and full lips -- granted, it's just my opinion, but I said "that looks like my cousin Patrick".

Okay, to be honest, I haven't seen Patrick since I was little. Anyway, I think the face they used was Face 17 in the Costume Creator, if you want to see it without the goggles.

One of the players pictured has inquired via official channels. I'm basing my knowledge off of his connections. As far as I know it is not listed or mentioned anywhere in game or at Paragon Wiki.

Indeed. The original Vambrace was James St. John-Smythe and Brandon Warfield. Pictured above is a modern interpretation of the power suit driven by an as yet unidentified person.

Elementar's ethnicity is mentioned in Web of Arachnos as African American.

That's what I was leaning towards, but the only thing I could recall for certain was the weatherman bit.

I believe the statue in Perez Park nearest the Galaxy City gate (the one with no hands) is also Galaxy Girl. I never noticed this until after I read this thread and then later zoomed past her and I had to turn around and do a double-take. She might be right behind M-1 for number of statues.
