Mission won't drop.
Not all missions can be dropped. Usually, it's timed and badge missions that can't be dropped, but there are others that they don't allow you to drop.
What server are you on? I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to help you.

I'm just wondering why the mission won't drop. It's double XP weekend, so I'll probably just wait until I out-level it to complete it.

In short, contact support again, form a team, or run it at -1. Don't get frustrated at the GM, if you're not communicating well keep your head and ask to be escalated.

As Star Geek suggests, you'll need to take along a team for those missions.
That stinks. I'll just level up off scanner missions until it's low enough to beat.
Seriously, a mission with Circle of Thorns AND The Lost. Those two groups are a lowbie's worst nightmare. =P

not if you put a team together to do it. im sure many people would like to be able to get into cimerora. and anyone who is on the team will be able to without doing their own arc.

Something else to keep in mind is that you are playing a defender. Remeber, attacks are a defenders secondary power... it's not their strength. As you advance in levels you'll encounter many more enemy types that you won't be able to hold a candle against as a defender... CoT and Lost are just the start of what's going to be a painful road if you aren't teaming.

I've soloed many a defender, through many levels, including my empath. This is so not true in so many ways.

And speaking of missions that won't drop... I was on an ITF last night that went to the final battle against Rommy and a couple players dropped out along the way. Somehow I ended up with the star I didn't want. The rest of us just didn't have enough damage potential despite several concerted efforts by us to try to take him down. And now I'm stuck with the last leg of the ITF that I can't drop! So, I'm guessing that I'll later have to form a team and run this last leg just to clear it. Ironically, my scrapper reached 50th level during this task force.
I'll second this, and with an empath/elec at that. Sure, she's not an AV killer (not yet anyway until after a second build respec, but it's certainly doable), yet she has completed many an arc solo as well as playing with teams. I believe the true test of any character, even an empath defender, is their capability to hold their own.

You may have the star, but it's not a normal mission. You can't add more peeps, you can quit the team though.

You only have the mission because someone on the team logged out or disconnected, not quit.

It's funny, though, how this just dropped into my lap, like a cat.

Just so you know you can not drop the first mission of any arc.
Enjoy your day please.
Hi,
well with regards to squishy Defenders, I have just last night levelled my first Emp/Electric to 50.
I soloed the mish "Defeat Infernus and the Summoning Portal", a mish of all CoT.
I reached the last room and took down the guards so there was only me and the EB, eyeball to eyeball.
My xp bar was 99.9%.
We went at it and after a full on battle he bit the dust. I immediately levelled to the magic 50 and spat on the corpse.
I turned on my heals and with a huge grin on my face marched my "Squishy" the entire length of the (my!) map. It was a "leave by the front entrance" moment.
I will never forget the reaching 50 on my Defender, it is one of my gaming high spots
Go for it OP, persevere and all shall be yours
Cheers

A tip: That mission has many big Stargate-like portals that spawn an infinite number of Behemoths; a Defender has little chance against them. If you're trying to beat them all, you likely can't win. I've found that it's generally possible to perform the rescue without spawning any Behemoths. There's typically a big pyramid-room with a small wooden bridge entrance that's full of summoning portals; the hostage is generally NOT in that room. Look elsewhere, way in the back of the map.

That's really great and all, but I've done this mission numerous times on many ATs and many servers, and I have never gotten the Portal room in this mission. As far as CoT maps go, this mission is almost like a scanner mission, short and to the point. The maps are never really very large.
Maybe I've just been lucky, I dunno.

I've never had a problem running the "Rescue a Midnighter" mission with any AT... yes, even defenders (/e eyeroll). In fact, since this arc is required for Midnighter Club access, it's easy for any AT to complete. The OP just needs to understand every AT comes with its own set of strategy and tactics. Sure, a defender can't usually steamroll through it like a scrapper can, but using hit-and-run and other tactics that are admittedly slower, it should be no problem to complete.

This map (and it's mostly the same map every time at these levels) will spawn relatively few Lost fighting the CoT (at higher levels these become Rikti, so that's why I am assuming that the OP is in the teens or 20s), and then some regular CoT spawns. It's a twisty map, not very long, but no portal rooms and mostly single level (i.e., no pyramids).
I've done this missions with Blasters, Scrappers & Defenders. The defenders were at basically -1 level (pre-I16, I levelled at least once before doing the mission) but we got it done every time.
BTW, OP - later in this same arc from Monty is another undroppable mission.

I wish we could drop the Gather Information mission from the Midnighters arc. I hate that mission with a passion...

However, you usually cannot drop the *LAST* mission of any story arc. Although there are a few exceptions (though at the moment I can't remember names, I dropped the last mission in an arc the other day on my Controller).

Here's the problem I'm having. I have a mission called "Rescue a Midnighter" from Montague Castanella. It's too hard for my lowbie defender to complete, so I go to the contact to drop it. Problem is, the drop option isn't appearing. I haven't dropped a mission on this character in weeks, so I should be able to. It isn't timed, either, and I don't know what's wrong.
Don't tell me to contact support, I already tried that. The GM I got seemed like he had no clue how to play the game, and it ended with me quitting in frustration.
Any idea what's wrong here?
