  2. Super Strength and/or Fire Melee.

Both have excellent damage, decent AoE. Only difference is Fire has no secondary effects.

I am thinking Genins are the best choice. Genins cycle the most attacks of all pets. Jounins are better off with AH proc and Negative damage.

If you put Souldbound on zombies, they only have one melee attack that recharge 4s?
The zombies also vomit and use Siphon Life.

This is unfortunately not how I play my MMs. My MMs are batteries of buffing and debuffing, with pets to supplement their damage. The only Tankermind I have is my Demon/Dark (set to x6) and I try not to team with him for reasons not worth mentioning.

If I get on a team, I bring my playstyle. If it's not helping the team and the leader has a problem with it, I either leave or change my style. However, if the leader doesn't like what I'm doing even though what I'm doing is greatly helping the team, I chalk it up to the leader's own dumb and wait for him to do something about it.

A great example of this was a team leader who demanded Painbringer from my Bots/Pain MM, even though he was another mastermind. "I'm the leader and I have a lot of high-endurance powers, I need it." I told him no, and kept giving it to our WM/Invul Brute.

He kicked me from the team, and the entire team disbanded and reformed-- without him and with a very savvy Plant dominator (Face Plant, I think it was).

Well, I can't use Mid's right now. So no build comments at the moment.

Did you take Tough/Weave? Most Brute players I know do; I do not. I don't ever find myself needing them. Instead I went Arctic Mastery. Let me tell you about how fun that is.

With Hasten, Lightning Reflexes and the Force Feedback proc going off steadily, I can triple stack Rage.

If I triple stack Rage, I most assuredly have 65+ Fury.

If I use Ice Storm with 3 Rages and 65+ Fury, Ice Storm does over 600 damage in one casting.

    Ho-ho-holy pastafazoli.

I didn't even think to mention that. Darkest Night would seriously crank your survivability when paired with Invincibility, Tough Hide and Combat Jumping. Muahaha.

Oh. Does the heal only affect base HP percentage then?

If it does or doesn't, I think I may have worded my response poorly as it is. I meant it will do more healing number-wise, not percentage-wise. If you boost your HP cap, the percentage means higher numbers.

If it only affects base HP percentage, my bad!
  10. When I can, I'll put up a build. No access to Mid's at the moment. My biggest pieces of advice:

Frankenslot Siphon Life. Build for Acc, Dam, Heal and Rech. 2 pieces of Accurate Healing and 4 pieces of Melee should do the trick.

Don't put immobilize in Midnight Grasp. This one is usually a given.

Titanium Coating is great for the +Health.
  11. The thing is, when you do have full Fury and get Rage, you'll use it.

You won't want to at first, thinking Rage will be replaced bu Fury, but then you'll use it. Then you'll double stack it. And you'll be hooked.

I beg to differ. I find my Fire/Fire using Consume as much as he can, not only for the +End, but for the temp Recovery boost as well. An endurance set (while not the best for bonuses) would make this power do what it does better. Slotting it for damage is like trying to make your car submersible. It sounds good in theory, but you'd be better off using it for what it was made for.

And be sure to remember that Fiery Aura is not a set meant to keep you alive. The self-rez is essentially a bomb. As Bill Z once said, "become the bomb." Don't hang your hopes on living as long as you can. Fire is build to kill, even if you're killed. Burn, Embrace, AoE, and if you die, Phoenix and finish them off. Become the bomb. The lower your health goes, the faster your fuse burns. Slot RotP with two Damages and Recharge if you feel like it. It makes a difference.

Edited to add: You're going to want Fiery Embrace sooner.
  13. SS/Elec is such a ridiculously strong combo. I'm at 49.5 with my SS/Elec (who I made in August '06, long time, I know!) and after a recent build change he's a veritable monster. Putting a Force Feedback +Rech proc in Foot Stomp is the smartest thing you can do with SS.
  14. *puts his gloves on*

Seems some people are misinformed on both sets, here.

I'm putting my hat in the ring and casting my vote for Dark/Invul.

While Siphon Life isn't as great a heal as Dull Pain, Dark Regeneration (the king), Reconstruction, and others, it is a great utility power that not only gives you another healing option but also does stupid amounts of damage with Fury and Soul Drain. It is not what I would call an "impressive heal" unless you pair it with Hasten. It is, however, an impressive attack. Combine it with Hasten and slot for Damage and you won't need it to heal for very much.

The reasons Dark/Invul would have far better synergy than Willpower (in my opinion, at least) are as follows:

-The -ToHit in Dark Melee will allow you to debuff tough single targets into constantly missing you. With enough spawns around you, Invincibility's defense boost and Dark Melee's -ToHit will make you the hardest thing to touch since Christina Hendricks. *rimshot*

-When your defenses are bypassed, the resistance portions of Invul will soften the damage you take considerably, especially if you do the smart thing and take the Auto powers. In turn, if you get hit especially hard to the point that even resistance can't make such a blow hurt less, you have Siphon Life to fill those hit points back up while enemies ram their fists into your defenses and fail to injure you.

-Dull Pain will boost your HP cap up. This is an invaluable thing, especially when paired with Siphon Life; you'll be healing yourself for more should you need it after using Dull Pain.

-Unstoppable is a bucket of fun. Seriously. Save for the Psionics hole, it makes Strength of Will look like crap (considering the resistance values in SoW are saddening compared to Unstoppable). Slot it for Recovery and recharge, and if you're worried about -Resistance, put a Resistance IO in there for good measure.

-Soul Drain + Invincibility + Target Cap = Maxed ToHit.

-Invul feels stronger than Willpower. This is coming from the standpoint of not enjoying watching your HP bar act like a yo-yo. I'm one of those people who doesn't want the crutch of their armor to be rapid outhealing of whatever's trying to kill you. Either give me a great self-heal with good resist (Dark Armor/Elec Armor) or make me an untouchable beast (Invul/Stone).

-Should you find yourself running out of Endurance with Invul's toggles and Dark's attacks, you have Dark Consumption at your disposal.

If you have any more questions on Dark Melee, see my sig.

Exactly. Fury generates much faster now, and with the rapid attacks of Ice Melee there's absolutely no reason Ice/Ice would hinder Fury. Plus it would be nice to have an armor set that didn't get the same crappy numbers as Scrapper defenses (for example, Tanker Shield Defense having 15% base defense and Brute Shield Defense having 11.25%). A number over that piddly 11.25% would be nice.
  16. Well, I'm not a genius on either set, but I'd say you could drop Repulsing Torrent. It's not a good power to pair with /Shield as it's just a knockback. You want people close! I would also swap True Grit and Battle Agility's placement. Get those toggles early.

    See what Carnifax pointed out.
I'm of course speaking from the standpoint of having taken Dark Armor. I find Touch of Fear greatly improves my survivability. Having never paired it with Willpower I decided to just give the advice I had on it. I personally love the power.

No need to take a personal shot at me. Thanks.
  18. Touch of Fear is a must-take power. I don't care if it doesn't do damage.

11.25% ToHit Debuff unenhanced. 'Nuff said. Put Siphon Insight in it, including the Chance for +ToHit.
Frankenslot Siphon Life with Damage, Accuracy, Recharge, and Healing. As much as you can afford/possibly stick in it.
Don't put Immobilize in Midnight Grasp.
Depending on how well your character manages Endurance, you may or may not need Dark Consumption. It's a decent AoE, but it's made to refill your endurance bar. Watch your blue and take it if you need it.

I have more info on Dark Melee in the guide linked in my sig.

    It's not a glass cannon, it's a sawed-off hand grenade.

Run in, do as much damage as you can. If you die you freaking explode back to life.

Sca-REEEEEEECH! Hold on a second there.

Now I know you're responding to someone else, but I want to throw my hat in the ring on this little debacle. I've had to go over this several hundred times (and after migrating from Pre-BC WoW I've had to defend it even more).

If a Tanker/Brute is tanking and has aggro on 95% of the mobs (there are always stragglers) and a Blaster/Corruptor/Mastermind manages to get himself killed, it's his own stupidity that killed him, not the Tanker/Brute. Smart ranged damage AT players will know when and when not to fling something like an AoE or giant debuff. They'll also take note of whether or not the Tanker/Brute has a taunt/damage aura or not. If they don't, it's probably not the smartest idea to attack enemies that aren't immediately next to the Tanker/Brute.

So again, if Mr. Tank is tanking and Mr. Damage is damaging and Mr. Damage manages to rip off a few of Mr. Tank's straggler mobs and dies, Mr. Damage is to blame.

After FINALLY getting a Stalker (Kin/Regen) past level 10 (which was the wall for me, never got a Stalker over level 10 before) I decided to slide on into this forum and check stuff out as I really enjoy the way Kin Melee plays.

The first thing I got sick of was "go roll a scrapper with invis." That's a BS suggestion for anyone who wants a Stalker.
