Unstoppable question

I got into an argument with my guild leader which led me to being kicked from the guild. I was already thinking about leaving, so it wasn't a big deal. However, he never could explain to me why you would slot resistance enhancements in Unstoppable. He claimed it was for STF, but couldn't give me an exact reason other than the fact that he has 4-manned it.

I want to know why going over 90% resistance helps against anything. It would also like to know if I was right so I can feel better about not being in that guild.

Why do you have so much knockback protection slotted? Your power set includes 10 mag and 10000% resistance to knockback. You don't really need more mag protection.

Unstoppable does not need resistance IOs slotted. You will be way over the resistance cap on all but a few damage types. The remaining are just slightly below the cap.

You have way too much accuracy in your build. If I understand the attack mechanics correctly, 243% accuracy gives you capped hit chance against +4 enemies and 197% accuracy is enough for capped hit chance against +3s. If you aim for 200% for each attack, you should have a 78% chance to hit +4s, which you probably won't fight often. A few different set bonuses might benefit you more than the accuracy you have.

When I19 make the fitness pool inherent, you might benefit from taking Tough and Weave from the fighting pool. The extra resistance from Tough will help you get to the smashing/lethal cap. Weave's extra defense is nice to have.

As for the comment on not needing to slot resistances in unstoppable... absolutly the worst advice I have ever heard. Ignorance is bliss and as I know syntax means well, I know he has never tanked an STF. If you follow his advice recluse will *** **** you and post it on youtube. Absolutly slot resistances in unstoppable for those not so fresh moments in the STF. The powers by the level seem fine so now its just slotting and tweaking and I think you will enjoy it.

Yeah, he doesn't know what he's talking about. The only time you'd need WAY more than the cap is if you're facing resist debuffs... in which case... I don't even know if that helps.

Not to mention that you probably shouldn't use Unstoppable on Recluse anyway.

Hell, my DA tank laughs at Recluse.

Running Unstoppable against LR, with or without slotting it, is a death sentence.

As for going that far over 90% resistance, anything that could debuff it far enough to matter would probably kill you anyway, so there's no real point.

I don't even take Unstoppable, but if I did the only thing I would ever put in it is a Steadfast Res/Def IO, and even then only if that build was not going to exemplar to low levels. OK, I would also put in the PvP +Res IO, but at that point you're getting into 'insanely expensive build' territory and it's not an IO most folks will ever have.

Dark Armor has Unstoppable?

Oh, and running Unstoppable against LR is NOT a death sentence. Just pop two purples and two oranges just before the Crash o' Death and you'll be OK.

This, both parts.

And if your ex-guild leader is using the words 'Unstoppable' and 'Lord Recluse' in the same sentence, he doesn't have a clue. And I HAVE tanked LR on my invuln - without using Unstoppable (and I do have it).

P.S. I do actually have Unstoppable slotted for resistance - because it gets a slot for free and I didn't have anything else I wanted to put in it.

Immovable answer.
(Sorry, i had to do that.)

Now that that's out of my system i have to agree with the rest here that the OP's guild leader didn't really know what he was talking about.

Overall the builds that get thrown around within private sg forums tend to lack something despite exactly known intent. Suggestions on these forums usually get done with not knowing someones intent till five days later if ever.

Unstoppable was well over slotted as some people have said.

I have used unstoppable versus Recluse with a build that didn't have tough in it.

I have used Unstoppable 3 times in a row as soon as it is up in front of Ghost Widow, Mako and Scirroco without being defeated during any or between any of the crashes. Not being afraid to crash and with a cup half full myself I don't knock what players do to get things done. Some players will work past the crashes, some won't. It is not a death sentence as been said.

Unaided in terms of support, in melee, an Invuln tanker can go the distance a teams fight duration, with Ghost Widow, they could be hit by soul storm but they ain't going down due to being unstoppable.

Ofc nobody needs to need unstoppable.

All that KB protection and the Panacea looks to me like he pvps.

But I still don't get all that extra resistance.

Unstoppable is a last minute resort. You really don't use it unless you are in a real bad spot and even then I make sure to time it with dull the pain so I don't wipe out.
There is really no no need to slot it, if your capped, and you definitly don't need IO's for it.
This may change when we get inherient fitness, but I'm just speculating.
