  1. I presume it's also cheating to use vetspecs. Load up on SOs or common IOs from WWs and respec to get better prices, 10 SOs bought for 5K each, sold for 50-60, 4 vetspecs, 2M.

My experience with Posi and other TFs leads me to believe that the time to complete has more to do with how experienced the players are with TFs as opposed to how large/small the team is, or how it is composed.

Players who don't know what they're doing, who don't cooperate, who don't fight and travel efficiently, who tend to go afk or obsessively shop or whatever ... these players are the ones who make TFs longer than they need to be, much more than any other factor.
I've done posis between 1:10 and 1:20 with 2, 3, 4 and 5 man teams, and I'm not the fastest around, people with purpled out 50s can solo it set for 2 in under an hour.

    1:45 is not fast.

    I like tripp's suggestion too.

The other one is to allow change of leader during a TF for the situation where the leader goes AFK without logging. (There was an old thread about this a while back)
  3. My housemate got his on the evening of the Thursday before Christmas from Chillblast. It was DoA (we presume the courier company shook it or dropped it by the fact that when it was sent out again, they packed it internally with foam unlike the first time). Chillblast seriously got their fingers out to get the PC back to them, repaired and back to him before Christmas. The PC is also seriously quiet and well ventilated.

This customer service experience contrasts with mine. I got mine from Mesh. The PC itself is fine although not as quiet as the Chillblast one, but when I've had problems, it took them 10 days to get an engineer out to repair it on site as per the warranty (dead graphics card), and ages to sort it out when the mother board died in the later return to base period of the warranty. They don't consider the fact that you're without a PC for weeks a major problem, and treat you with a certain amount of contempt.
  4. Stalker would be only toon I have for a master run, but basically not that interested.

    Chain Induction
This Electric Melee attack deals moderate Smashing and Energy damage and may drain some of the target's Endurance. However, this attack also induces an unstable electric charge that may jump to another enemy target. The charge will jump randomly between multiple targets, until it inevitably dissipates. Enhancements and Fury will only boost the effectiveness of the initial attacks, not the jumping charge.

Bug! This power is currently bugged. If a Proc Invention enhancement is placed in the power, Chain Induction's 100% chance of jumping to another target will be changed to the much lower percentage of the Proc, such as Mako's Bite: Chance of Lethal Damage 20%, for example.

    Damage Moderate Damage(Smashing/Energy) (55.1 dmg)
    Recharge Slow
    Minimum Level 18 (Brute)
    Effects Melee, Foe -Endurance, +Special
Personal Comment: Love this power. Fast animation, decent damage, jumps to multiple targets. A few complaints: The power will not jump targets if you add a proc to it. This really cripples your ability to slot decent sets into this power. Second complaint: If the damage you deal with CI kills your target, it won't jump to the next target.
Slotting Recommendation: 4 slot kinetic combat for the melee defense, add a 5th slot with an accuracy. Later set of 5 Hecatomb.
The bug was fixed a while back, use the procs.

Mine is scrapper rather than brute. Agree on the FF proc in TS, I also have one in my epic, note that because of the pet summons, they don't work properly in the teleport attacks.

I went without a travel power so slotted 4 GotA and 2 plain IO res in deflection and put my steadfast in tough.

I 6 slot stamina for the AoE def. Mine is capped on melee/AoE and a little down on ranged. I can cope with soloing +2/x8 BP, so it's pretty robust.

  7. -acc or -damage, I don't really mind, but why in the name of all that is holy does a 2000 pound lump of rock still get pushed around by the pedestrians, there should be some code that says that whenever something moves due to the collision code, it's not the granite if the other thing can move.

You don't have the millions it takes to play expensive Market games, and you don't have the Enhancements it takes farm big spawns. So take a step back and look at things more realistically.

Look at some of the stickied threads here for beginning Marketing tips. Things like buying stacks of level 50 rare Recipes that people don't want for 1k each, and selling them for 10k each to a vendor. Check the Snipe, Sleep, Confuse, and Fear sets. Yes, it is stupid that people will sell recipes on the Market that they could sell to a vendor for more, but it happens. A single stack of 10 will net you about 90k profit, enough for several SOs or fewer IOs. But it's easy and doesn't take too long.

After that you might move up to crafting. By memorizing a common IO recipe, you can craft it for significantly less than other people. Start by putting up some low bids for the Salvage you'll need, and let them fill overnight. Then regularly collect the salvage, craft the IOs, put them up for sale, and put in more low Salvage bids.

Very soon you'll have enough to buy all the SOs and common IOs you want. Then you'll start getting greedy. You'll want set IOs, and those cost more. So you'll graduate to crafting set IOs for a profit. Then you'll try flipping recipes, and even flipping purples. Eventually you'll come to realize that the only reason to level up a character is to get more Marketing slots. Somewhere along the way you'll lose your immortal soul, but you won't care. It has no value on the Market. Eventually you'll be back to post a screenshot of yourself sipping tea, wearing a top-hat and a monocle, and your Inf total will be over 1 billion. Then the rest of us Ebil Marketeers will welcome you to the inner circle.
This is not true, I have a level 37 who has 2 BN in the bank and a full set of LotG 7.5s already purchased, if you start marketeering early (I did at level 6 with exactly the level 50 recipe thing outlined above) and graduated on to flipping salvage, then crafting recipes for profit.

Admittedly this has taken a few months (I'm an altoholic and have many other billionaires plus have played 43 toons to 50 over the years), if it's the only toon you're playing then yes you will struggle to accumulate influence that fast.

One thing I did was to create a personal SG base, create a load of other toons, level them to 6 ish and use them to sell crafted (memorised) common IOs which also made money in the volumes I could shift them as well as some of the crafted set IOs.

    Confused

Fire armor just is weaker than most of the others, and by quite a long way when compared to the best.

Can it do the job ? Of course, particularly when combined with a high mitigation secondary.

Anything you can do with a given spend on IOs to make a fire tank more survivable, you can do equally well or better to the other primaries.

Will you kill stuff faster than most of the other primaries ? yes with the possible exception of Shield.

I have 50 fire/fire, fire/ice and fire/dark tanks, but they are not the ones I pull out for really tough stuff, my WP/SS, Ice/stone, Stone/axe and shield/mace are significantly tougher against general stuff (although there are some significant exceptions for some of them).

In fact against non defence debuffing stuff, I have scrappers with more damage mitigation than my fire/fire that also kill a lot faster.

Correct, but stone melee is even better, fault + OG = AoE drunkenness
  11. My original toon was created in early July 04 and has sat at level 8 ever since.

It was an invul/mace tank, and faced with the choice of passive or toggle and no numbers, I took the passive ... d'oh

My second toon was a claws/invul who I picked up again 4 years later and finally got to 50 after 53 months.

Most of the others I've created, have actually been actively played but I do have a few over 1000 days inactive.
  12. Also, the procs are usually comparatively cheap, so in powers without inherent knockdown, I tend to use only one of the horribly expensive dam/end and triple, and slot the proc as the 4th one. This saves lots of cash and adds some mitigation.
  13. The FF proc is good, it feels like it goes off about half the time in decent sized groups and makes a big difference. I slotted one in footstomp and another in the epic energy torrent on my SS/WP, and they make a huge difference to the recharge of FS and KoB.

My ice/stone has 3 of them (fault/tremor/energy torrent).

With the free server transfers, I suspect you don't have to pay for it.

Create a toon with the name of the toon you're about to transfer on the destination server.

Use your free transfer, get a name change token and use it.

Use another transfer to transfer it back.

Can this really happen? Or does every name that get's removed for being offensive get put on a Master block list? I should think if that hasn't been done already, the engineers should really work on a GM tool for it. Seems like it could end up saving a lot of time and prevent a lot of GM So n So yanks a name but a year later GM what and who thinks it's fine.
    This can happen.

I had a toon name that was not desperately offensive and gave amusement to many people judging by tells I got (Debbie does Talos). This got generic'd.

Two weeks later, I see that not only is that name running around on the same server, but that it's a member of my SG running it. I ask the question and he thought it was original, I pointed out what had happened and he deleted it as it was a lowbie.

Also how offensive something is seems to vary wildly on the two sides of the Atlantic. A Spoonerism of something truly offensive (but one that created two perfectly sensible words so it wasn't glaringly obvious) was being run by a friend of mine and got to level 40 ish before being generic'd. That same name was a very minor character in a 1980s 8pm national TV comedy sketch show for many years here in the UK (where we have a no swearing on TV before 9pm rule), so was clearly not considered offensive here.
  16. These have been around for a long time.

And Captain Outhouse is available as a name on Victory, hmm.

    Soloing Posi

After that, I just pop four lucks in order to achieve soft capped Defense and just run through the whole mission with the hostage following me.

I can easily do the mission in 10-15 minutes like this.
I run to the end, deal with the boss and the rest of the room he's in. Free the first hostage I come to on the way back, swallow purples, lead him to second hostage, free second hostage, swallow more purples if necessary and lead the two out.

I usually duo, I have a perma lvl 17 fire/nrg blaster with a full set of lvl 20 SOs. I have SS and a stealth IO, plus a low level -KB IO in my lvl 16 power (the toon dates from before you kept powers above 15, but given the exemping penalties on enhancement bonuses I couldn't see how to improve it).

I've done posis in 1:10-1:15 with 2/3/4/5 on the team.
  18. From among my 43 50s, I would recommend these as the most fun and powerful:

    Tank

Ice/stone - huge mitigation via KD, great aggro handling without taunt
WP/SS - poor taunt aura, great damage and survivability

    Scrapper

ElM/shield - softcap and do ridiculous things
Kat/SR - really smooth levelling, near softcap melee with one divine avalanche from lvl 17

    Blaster

Arch/mental - AoE death in ridiculous quantities

    Troller

The classic fire/kin is hard to beat, plant/emp in teams is cool.

Others, if you're going to exemp a lot, the best tank in the 20s is a kheld with tricked out dwarf form, I have a PB that will be in either dwarf or nova form, pretty much never human, cheap IO build and tanks the mid level TFs great.
  19. Victory used to be the unofficial European server.

www.eurocore.org is my SG of choice there, at our peak, we needed something like 4 SGs and 4VGs but less active now. We have our own private chat channel.

I played on Freedom as my first main server, but the Euros I know from there have long since left the game (other than the ones I've seduced onto Victory).
  20. Was going to post pictures of my level 17 billionaire, but won't bother now (and she'd look ridiculous in a monocle). Gratz
  21. I have the full 36 toons on Victory, and only 5 free slots in total across the other servers so not a lot of flexibility, but will move a few of my less played 50s across to new homes to make some space.

I wish... that all europeans who are playing on US could be forced to play on EU instead
    Err... no

How do I get my 130+ toons on one US account onto 2 English speaking servers ? I can just about play in French but would prefer not to.

Was basically the reason I didn't transfer over at EU launch.

Would much prefer the EU and US servers to be available to both pools of players, I'd make some toons on the two EU ones. (I have 4 free slots on Guardian, one on Pinnacle and all other servers full, including a full 36 on Victory, so another 24 would be nice).

Making that change during a future free transfer period would be wonderful, so I could transfer a 50 over with some cash.
  23. I don't actually have either of my 50 ice/stone build in mids, but things I did different were:

Went with Force Feedback chance of +rechs in fault, tremor and epic energy torrent. They really help recharging your AoEs and heavy hitters.

Slotted seismic smash with a cocktail of one HO (dam/mez), two from the hold purple set and 3 from a melee set for better bonuses.

I have box/tough/weave instead of taunt/fly/permafrost, meaning I could hit the caps much more cheaply and easily than you can.

The toon is a monster and almost never uses hibernate, am thinking of respecing it out.

Just takes a bit of effort, that's all.

Yin-Os rock at that sort of level but in the end I got a full set of level 20 SOs that people had dropped off the clockwork king in Synapse. Just took a bit of patience at WWs.
  25. I doubt anybody cares, but some idiot with a pneumatic drill decided to put it through my cable connection, and the cable company are being useless about repairing it, so I've been off the net for 3 weeks. Hope to be back on Friday, but not holding my breath ...
