I said I could make 2 mil in 30 min
How much capital do you get to start with? Look at 35-50 common and uncommon salvage - some of them can be lowballed for basically nothing and sold for anywhere from 10k to 200k.
As a matter of practicality, though, you're probably better off running a lowbie AE arc, collecting 500 tickets and buying 1 rare salvage that goes for 2m on the market to sell. You'll get some experience, too. (edit: note: this is dependent on you being able to buy salvage from a level range above your current level. I've not tried it personally yet.)
Interesting. I'm going to see what I can do in 30 min right now.

Selling crap to the NPCs is actually what I'll try to do it with. I'll do the math before. And crafting in SC will be fast, but with small gains if I'm going to get things sold asap.
Everything I know to make money starts at over 2m generally. Below that it's very slow common IO crafting. But that's not fast.
I'd certainly consider this to be in the "It's possible" category myself.
The guide I wrote way back when was 10M by Level 6. It was pretty easy.
If you're on a 30 min clock, and you skip the tutorial, you'll be starting
completely from scratch, so the initial startup is really the tricky part.
Speculating here, I'd guess you probably have to do a mission (for startup
capital), or at least a few kills.
At that point, you can typically buy a handful of SO's on the cheap (<100 each),
and from there, flip some salvage or recipes.

761,000 with about 50K bought but not cashed in.
That's the "shuttling back and forth in KR with uncommon snipes" number to beat.
Admittedly I had the increased salvage and recipe space and I was running a peacebringer, but that's still pretty good for a very simple technique.
And yes, that included costume creation.
To clarify: I beat down a single lieutenant, bought five high level common salvage for 11 each, flew to KR, cashed in, bought more salvage and a couple of level 36-50 generics, and started looping. Initially I was going with eight salvage and six recipe (since I had 2 Wentslots) but after a while I abandoned the salvage because it was slowing me down and went straight for six recipes per run, 111 cost and 4600-ish price per recipe.
I don't know what you'd use for craft-and-sell with that kind of time and price constraint.

For starting capital, I don't think you can go wrong using Outbreak. You can drop one of the missions. I usually drop the kill four mission. I'm not sure you'd lev if you skipped the door mish.

worth the 10-15 mins that it usually takes me to wander through it (I
usually get the Isolator badge too).

Is it possible? Oh hell yeah.
1: Do the tutorial.
2: Go to AP
3: Vendor the TO's.
4: Sell the inspies at WW.
5: Start vendoring common IO recipes.
Note: I wouldn't really recommend this on a frequent basis though. You'll simply drive up the price of common recipes. Look at red-side right now. Damage IO recipes are selling for MORE than the vendor price!
Just tried this. Probably should have shifted to KR because the vendor is closer. Burned most of my time running as the 1 recipe limit is horrendous and as a result, only got to half a million. Couldn't really play in the craft and sell game for quick returns at that point as all the quick-sellers either:
- Weren't available at my price point
- Had salvage that put them out of my price point.
Got really lucky. My green inspie sold for over 128K.
If you are using the tutorial for starting capital, it is worth it (for me) to use your auto mission complete on Coyote. It really speeds things up.

It's easy to make a fortune in 30 minutes of game time if you spend two minutes shopping then log out for 24 hours, then log back in for two minutes of flipping. It's harder to do it all at once, in 30 minutes of real time.
I'd probably head to SC and scan through all the mutation SO's, throwing down a lowball bid on everything listed for sale with no bids. You can carry ten enhancements at a time, and it's an easy hop from the Steel WW to the Mutation store. Tedious, but effective. Vendoring common IO recipes works well too, but you can't carry many at level 1 and it takes time for those bids to fill. Vendoring salvage is even more tedious.

My "big money, no hurting" character got the starting inf from a badge. Admittedly, this was really an ATM character so I gave them the billion from another character- but the initial 10 inf was all their own.
Earned.

I've done this several times.
1. Do the tutorial, don't go for Isolator obviously. Make sure you get the two large inspirations, but don't use them. 5 mins.
2. Go to Atlas Park, train up at Ms. Liberty for level 2. Sell the two training enhancers for 40 inf each, now you have your listing fees. 1 min.
3. List the two inspirations for 10 inf each. You'll get around 5k for the red and 35-50k for the green, starting you with a minimum of 40k.
4. You can hold 1 recipe, but 10 enhancements and probably 10 salvage (these values are probably wrong, but they're close enough). Do the following:
a) Buy up any SO for 500-5000 inf. The level 50+ power 10 SOs (accuracy, damage, recharge, end redx, etc.) are worth more and worth bidding at 5000. The non power 10, lowball. I can usually fill up with 10 and for under 40k. At this point, go back to the trainer and sell these. You should have around 50-80k profit, giving you about 90-120k.
b) Use the 120k to buy up another round for SOs and to buy 1 level 50 common (not rare or uncommon) recipe.
c) You can also start lowballing uncommon salvage. I usually pick on Alchemical Gold or Pneumatic Pistons. Buy up a stack of 10 to sell.
d) Repeat steps a through c for about 10 trips and you will have 2M easily.
However, in reality, I never do this. I get enough for 100k or so and then just go play. Money drops like rain just through play, and the 100k is plenty to do some low level marketing. My characters typically have 40-50M by level 20 with modest marketing.
500 tickets in AE for a level 2? I gotta know more about this. And I don't think they do rolls for that lev.

Starting from scratch, without doing the tutorial, I just now got 590 tickets in about 55 minutes from doing some randomly selected arcs, which got me from level 1 to level 5. The time included going to level twice. I cheated and used vet attacks, which really do speed things up. I also had a false start with an arc that SKed me to level 12, in which none of my attacks did any damage at all. And I also had a couple of missions where I had to waste time searching for glowies and another one with hostages on a big open outdoor map.
Unfortunately, when it came time to buy rare salvage it wasn't on offer from the ticket vendor. Nor were any recipes. My guess is that when I hit level 7 I'll be able to buy recipes at my level, plus any kind of salvage.
If you pick the right arc, you can probably make it to level 7 in AE and get 540+ tickets within an hour. Half an hour? Probably tough, but possible if you write a custom arc ahead of time that's made for doing this.
I've used tickets to get rare salvage for my level 11 characters, which I then sold for millions. It didn't take much more than half an hour to do it, but they weren't level 1 to start off.
Best I was able to do below (around 659k in 29:44). I'm wondering if just grabbing 540 AE tickets is just faster. I know if I get a friend to help me, 540 tickets are easy, but that would be against the spirit of this exercise.
Not sure if there's a character that can rack up tickets that quickly at level 2-4.

Without that, yeah, any idiot could do it.

So, if you get all your ducks in a row, find the right AE mission and find some quick way to drum up 100K so you can post the salvage, you can easily make 2 million in hour or two the "honest" way, though 30 minutes might be pushing it.
By the same token, it's possible to make 10+ million with that same 540 tickets if you happen to get a -KB recipe with a bronze roll.
But your point is very well taken: with just a little investment in time, any low-level character can now get as much influence as they can possibly use in a matter of an hour or two.
Didn't do a screen shot like Fury..and man her toon looks normal compared to my random...but I got 644,451.
1. 35 seconds of character creation.
2. Out of Outbreak by the 25 min mark. Dropped Coyote only.
3. Stayed in Atlas. Sold the TOs and Insp. Bought 50-53 SOs for 3,111 each and sold them for whatever.
4. paused in flight at one point to answer "How do you get 2 mil in 30 min?" because my character was named 2mil30min. My response was, "I dont think I do."
5. Buzzer goes off and I'm only holding two more SOs, which would only mean another 20-30k.
I feel OK. But I was wrong about it initially.
Edited to add screenshot which photobucket garbled on the resize:

Actually, I did in Outbreak the first time I started and I was rushing and didn't move my powers on my toolbars. I self destructed as soon as I entered the door mish [which I didn't do the second time].

I do this with run, jump, and fly speeds so I know, "Hey, if I stop flying and start jumping, I'll be going 6 mph faster."
I'm in Talos WW and a mooch asks for 2 million. I give it to them since I'm feeling generous and also tell them to come to the forum. I also say that I could make 2 million in 30 minutes with a brand new toon.
I wonder if I could. I'd have nearly no money and no slots.
I'm going to try it tonight and hopefully none of you will and mess with my lil low lev niche.
I think I'll time not only how much I can make in 30, but how long it takes to make 2 mil. I think I'll take a PB so I can move between WW and NPCs. I'm not sure if I'll get a SG as I'll probably hop to SC since the library loads faster than a SG generally.
Any thoughts? Any threads already like this?
