I'll take "As Many As I Can Handle" for a thousand, Alex.
[/ QUOTE ]
I mentioned this on the dom boards.
lvl 25 Plant/thorn vs Scrapyard's followers (who con from white to orange.)
End result was something around 300 defeats on their part... to one on mine. (Yay, close source for Lucks.)
It's even more amusing when I dinged and got my creepers. Revenge for what they did to my masterminds! -
... yet shouldn't long term SGs already have more Prestige banked, generally, and thus be able to afford to do more?
(I'm "eh" on coalition slots. I don't think any of mine have used them up. Having them purchasable via prestige would be fine with me, though.)
Don't get me wrong - there are a lot of things I want to see with bases and SGs, including updates on how to contact SG leaders if you're interested, etc. I just can't think of a "reward" for having an SG around that wouldn't be just as useful to a younger SG. (And many of the ones I'm in have been around since before we had bases.)
... That might actually be it, come to think of it. Do it like an insurance "reward" program. Have extra "stuff" - coalition slots, other things to help administration for SGs to purchase at an SG "store" with Prestige, but give a discount every six months an SG is in existence. (Of course, as mentioned... some of the longer-lived ones won't need the help, having banked prestige that's not being used anyway.)
Not sure right offhand. -

What general population?
There are like, ten people who play doms. Half the posts on this forum are me and the other half are Liliaceae.

Am I one of the ten? or did you miss me and we are at 11?

14....but perhaps the enthusiasts don't all frequent this topic forum? Despite it being such a happy happy place?
Edit: But to the OP, the change is that domination is all about added status protection and ability, with the free "fill 'er up!" to the blue bar. Of course.
The damage bonus is being moved to the base damage, but as it's being moved, there are hints that some powers might be re-balanced damage wise to suit their blastery new values. My bets are on Energy assualt doing better, and psychic becoming less top heavy.

Things already mentioned in the thread:
Overlapping domination no longer giving the overlapping damage boost.
Psi secondary being retuned to me more like the (substantially weaker) blaster version.
Even Castle's example showed a nerf for one of the two powers he chose, assuming permadom of course.
So basically, the folks who spent the considerable effort to get permadom are understandably worried it may be a net nerf. The folks who don't bother to get permadom are also less likely to read the boards, and they're the ones getting buffed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am going to say this ONE last time. It isn't a buff.As you stated" people getting buffed probably dont read the boards". The proposed change will do nothing except buff levelling doms that don't team. Late game will be " omfg I die like I did before".
Sorry. This proposal won't help anything for casual players.
[/ QUOTE ]

Ditzy... Seriously, get a grip. This change will be a huge buff for casual players, and a very substantial buff for people that love playing Doms but don't go to massive amounts of effort to Permadom+ their various Dom alts.
Honestly, with probably a dozen Doms that I like to play covering the spectrum of levels from teens to several in the late endgame and/or lvl 50, I'm very much looking forward to the huge effective dmg buff this change represents. Not to mention the fact that running in for a Fulcrum Shift hit will now make a LOT more difference than it did before.
I'm sorry, you position seems pretty much completely unreasonable, and your contention that this is somehow NOT a buff... Well, I somewhat resent how you seem to be implying that anyone that doesn't have a 2XPerma Dominator that they play all the time, is somehow not a dedicated Dom player.
You can absolutely LOVE the Dom AT and play them all the time (and dang well thank you very much!) without spending all your time to get 2X permdom. And even WITH 2X permadom the higher dmg cap will still more than compensate if you team much IMO.
Arg
[/ QUOTE ]
Seconding this. I have *zero* permadoms... but a 50 dom, 41 dom, other doms throughout the levels. (See my recent - as in minutes ago - post on my plant/thorn.)
To me, more base damage *all the time* instead of just in dom most certainly *is* a buff, TYVM. I'm interested in seeing what he does wth Psy (as my 50 is Ice/Psy,) but overall, from what I've heard, it sounds positive for how I play.
I understand it potentially seeming like a problem for those with insane levels of permadom - but having better overall performance to begin with is, to me, a better place to start. Something *every* dom (again, waiting on the psy changes to see on them) should be able to enjoy. -
Yeah, Dominators are among my favourites, and I swear I have more "OMG..." moments with these. Like deciding to start cranking up difficulty at around level 3 for my Mind/Fire after taking on large spawns down on the beach by the Mercy fort with kalinda. (What is that, 10:1, 12:1 odds?)
Just had another one of those moments.
Scrapyard's followers.
So I'm talking to my contact (Vince Dubrowski) on my 25 Plant/Thorn dom. Not IO'd up or anything, not even fully SO'd. As I'm doing so, I see the crowd of Scrapyarders going by. All conning from white to orange to me.
Now, remembering what they did to my poor Masterminds at that level, the first reaction at these massive odds is to go the other way. After all, demolitionists *suck,* thank you. But... this isn't my Mastermind. This is the Plant/Thorn I've been having so much fun with. Check my kill badges - not even halfway on the 100 scrapyarders one.
Run up. Seeds - Roots - Fling Thorns, watch the carnage. Dodge a few demo's, jump back, fling more thorns and run from Scrapyard (who's now chasing me.)
Shake Scrappy, grab some lucks. Down them. Head back. Scrapyard's off playing with some Cage guards, his followers are in the industrial area on that one platform. Hop over - seeds - roots - thorns, Vines on the ones that I missed in the cone.
Several minutes later, both kill badges, so that's at least 150 scrapyarders. No deaths... until I mention it to an SG mate and get distracted. Rez, more lucks, rinse, repeat for at least another five minutes (it seems)
So, what was Statesman's old comment... three minions should equal one hero? >.> Think I beat that by 100x before Scrappy finally despawned and his followers ran off. (Of course, had I not had the lucks...)
Only after did I think I should've been demorecording. But I don't think I'd have pulled that off solo on another AT to that degree.
I absolutely *love* my doms.
Edit:
Even more fun with Creepers. Muahahah... -

I do have a lot of pads from the 'great supergroup bonus' about 18 months ago. But those are easy to spot, as they are all named 'Paddingtoon###' - the ### being numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
And every time you do log one on, I bet you get a ton of requests to pad! Now I'm tempted to roll a character named Paddingtoon Bear.
Oh, and a couple of people said the anniversary badges should be global. It's not a big deal, but I kind of like them being character based. The vet rewards tell people I've been playing the game for x months. The anniversary badges tell people I've been playing this character for x years. I'm pretty sure I have a level 2 character with all 5 anniversary badges.
He was the first tank I ever created, and I just haven't gotten around to playing him yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
*nod* I'm similar to this. I don't generally care about badges, but I do like my characters having an "I was here when..." badge.
Only one who doesnt' have the first year one is, actually, the first version of my forum namesake, since I was considering deleting him at that popint. (Lowbie fire tank, I believe just after some Tsoo sorcs were using him as a pinball, pre-20, and I was working on a blaster instead.) -
Yeah. I rather miss seeing multiple teams of heroes gathering to take Lusca down... the rewards, when the GMs got buffed, ended up just not being worth it for the amount of debt she can give.

[/ QUOTE ]
/nitpick
Asteroid, not comet. Comets are generally considered frozen balls of ice, gasses, and minor other debris around a core, usually on a very wide orbit around a star (if they haven't been knocked out of the system by the gravity of that star or an associated planet.)
Asteroids, which can also be referred to as planetoids or even minor (as opposed to dwarf) planets, are generally more rocky, yet smaller than a planet (or dwarf planet.) Generally not rounded by their own gravity, nor do they have any sort of atmosphere (which comets, approaching a star, will temporarily have) or (known) tectonics. Despite the inclusion of "planet" in their name, they do not have the gravitational influence to clear their own orbit.
This also did not refer to the dropping of a classic arcade game on Paragon Studios. Which they may appreciate more, if it survived.
... The more you know.

Actually, I think they expect the torches and pitchforks for anything they either do or don't do.

Awesome threadjack. (And I'm going with "Sound or light are defined, by us, as specific ranges of energy or vibrations. The object or action exists regardless of perception or definition. Perception is what changes it from 'sound' to 'noise' or 'information.'")
As far as the zones - I'd say they're in limbo. For instance, Adamastor is (as I recall) on a timer. He *will* spawn regardless of anybody being in DA - but if nobody's there, it's merely a checkmark on the "This zone has this active" list on the server.
Or, for another - Croatoa. We know the critters there fight each other when observed - but without someone there to spawn them, they won't fight each other because they don't "actually" exist. Larger events, such as Jack, Eochai, and Sally exist independant of observation, "living" on a timer. -
Yeah... it looked, from a quick scan through, like a "pile on castle" from some folks.
I'm all for a base damage hike on doms. Looked like part of the concern was from /psy doms, though, regarding PSW - believe I have a copy of mine over on test already, so we'll see. -

Resurrection Inspirations
Awaken: Self Minor Resurrection, Disorient, -Recovery, +Experience Point Debt Protection
If you are defeated, you can wake up with 1/4 of your hit points. You will, however, be disoriented, have no endurance, and unable to recover endurance for 20 seconds, but you will be protected from experience point debt for 10 seconds.
Bounce Back: Self Minor Resurrection, Disorient, -Recovery, +Experience Point Debt Protection
If you are defeated, you can wake up with 1/2 of your hit points. You will, however, be disoriented, have no endurance, and unable to recover endurance for 10 seconds, but you will be protected from experience point debt for 15 seconds.
Restoration: Self Minor Resurrection, -Recovery, +Experience Point Debt Protection
If you are defeated, you can wake up with 3/4 of your hit points. You will, however, have no endurance and unable to recover endurance for 10 seconds, but will not be disoriented, and you will be protected from experience point debt for 20 seconds.

I would like Resistance, PBAOE damage and END Modification.
I want to be able to have good set bonus from the IOs and my goal from this char is to get him to 50 then have a Single Target build for PVP (SOs) then have my main build, AOE for demon farms. I want to be able to survive in the farms and not die.
[/ QUOTE ]
OK. Follow the link to the wiki in my post, as well.
Look at what the individual sets give at bonuses with varying amounts of the set slotted (from two pieces to a full set, each gives additional bonuses - two might give, say, Regeneration increase, three might add a little accuracy to that, four might add runspeed to that, etc.)
For instance, most of the Melee sets, if you follow that link (and look at the little chart at the end of each section) give Immob resistance with two pieces. Three pieces, most give a little Health boost - not regeneration, but max health.
If we select one of those sets, say Touch of Death, it'll take you to a specific page on that set:
[ QUOTE ]
Touch of Death is a Melee Damage enhancement set in the Invention System. It is available in the 25-40 level range.
There are six enhancements in this set:
* Touch of Death: Accuracy/Damage,
* Touch of Death: Damage/Endurance,
* Touch of Death: Damage/Recharge,
* Touch of Death: Accuracy/Damage/Endurance,
* Touch of Death: Damage/Endurance/Recharge, and
* Touch of Death: Negative Energy Damage Proc: This enhancement has a chance to fire one or more times, depending on use..
Only one of each of these types of enhancements may be slotted per power.
The following set bonuses apply when slotting more than one of the enhancements in this set into a single power:
* Two enhancements reduces the duration of Immobilize effects on you by 2.75%.
* Three enhancements increases maximum Health by 1.5%.
* Four enhancements improves the Damage of all your powers by 2.5%.
* Five enhancements reduces the duration of Hold effects on you by 2.75%.
* Six enhancements increases Melee Defense by 3.75%.
* Six enhancements increases Smashing and Lethal Defense by 1.875%.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it gives you Melee defense, extra damage, and Smashing and Lethal defense if you have it six slotted - which is not "frankenslotting," as someone else mentioned (mixing up different sets.)
You can have five of any one percentage of one thing stacked. (say, five bonuses of 3.75% damage. You could then add more, say, 2.5% damage bonuses from another set, but more at specifically 3.75% would not count.)
how much would one of these sets cost? I couldn't say. You can get them through merits and drops. Market supply is variable, some pieces will be cheaper than others, and even different levels of the same piece can be different prices (I've seen two of the same recipe one level apart be hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of INF different in the last five sales.)
Again, browse that page, get some ideas, and wander down to the tanker forums for the specialists. -
[ QUOTE ]
ya just saw castle saying [ QUOTE ]
You complain about Permadoms being Nerfed in your opening paragraph, then talk about damage being king in teams in your second, all the while ignoring the fact that your ranged damage cap is 46% HIGHER? I'm unsure if this is gall or poor math skills.
Either way, I'm now done with this thread. See you folks on the Training room.
[/ QUOTE ]
So i thought i would ask.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh oh... Doms, don't cheese Castle off! -
OK, and what specifically do you want out of IOs?
Basically trying to get you to narrow down just what you want before pointing you to the specialists in the tanker forums
Do you want more defense? Recharge for something? Extra damage? Sets can do a LOT - the link in my signature goes to Paragonwiki, and this link specifically goes to sets.
Now, as a fire/fire tank, going from memory, you'll be able to use - without guessing at pools or APPs -
- Resistance sets
- Melee damage
- PBAOE damage (not targeted)
- Healing (not accurate healing)
- END Modification
- ToHit Buff (I believe.)
- Something related to your travel power.
- Taunt (even if you haven't taken the Taunt power)
Some of the sets in these categories are cheap, some are pricy. The link will show you an overview of the sort of bonuses (and links to the specific sets will give you percentages) you can get.
Look them over, pick some overall theme or goal(s) and get thee to the Tanker forums with that info and your build (which powers, slotted how currently, though you could do a respec.) -

I'd like to see the Devs play around with the mission spawns more - solo mobs of 3 minions or 1 minion and a lieutenant can get very predictable, and being vastly outnumbered and still winning is always fun.
Personally if I see a 10 strong mob of even cons or (depending on the character) +1s, I'm always tempted to dive in and see if I can take them all down.
Happily my level 36 scrapper has just discovered the Abandoned Sewer Network

/this.
Aside from hopping in, eclipse/mire/nuke with my 'shade... last night, a friend and I were doing the Dirge of Chaos mission. My sonic/sonic, his emp/energy. Pulled one spawn of Freakshow, had another come along. Freakshow rezzing, and I believe a patrol - *lots* of freaks to fight, and he's SKd to me, so they're at least +2 to him. Regular freakshow convention - I wasn't slotted up, really, and he was too low for SOs. (17/18 at the time.)
Good fight, dont' think either of us got under half-health, and at the end of it, a pause and then "I don't believe we survived that" from him.
Or doing the... think it was ice mistral SF, with the cave room at the end, my brute and another being the only ones standing and just fighting off the mobs 'til we were finally overcome several minutes after the rest of the team and getting cheered on by them. (Again, LOTS of mobs.)
Great fun. -

At level 10, you are directed to an Invention tutorial in Steel Canyon as a Hero, or Cap Au Diable as a villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. Do that and read it.
[/ QUOTE ]
... do it at 12, get a level 15 Acc IO, and use that in place of an Acc DO. Higher percentages 'til you hit SO levels, and they don't expire.
Every bit of INF saved helps.
-
Wow... First... black on blue is impossible to read. May want to change that - so, quoting...
[ QUOTE ]
I was just wondering, how many IO Enhancements would i be able to get with my influence? I want the cheapest IO Enhancements for the primary set of my fire/fire tanker. I plan to fully IO his Firey Aura, then I plan to SO his Fire Melee.
[/ QUOTE ]
Basic IOs are cheap, set IOs vary - there's no set (heh) price for set IOs. Some can be had for 500 inf, some for tens or hundreds of millions.
The SOs should be cheap, but what level are you? Level 30 common IOs (acc, dam, etc.) give more "bang for the buck," without having to be replaced every few levels, if you happen to be levelling.
I'd honestly go down in the tanker forums, with more of an idea as to just what you want to accomplish by setting yourself up with sets. Massive defense? Recharge? The most damage? There are a lot of things to design for - and that 80 mill will be burned through fast.
(Most puns dealing with "set" and fire themes in this post are purely accidental.)
Edit:
Also note that with Mission Architect tickets and reward merits from running missions, you can get recipes without spending a dime - either through rolls (merits or tickets,) or saving enough to buy specific recipes (say, 75 - I think - merits for a KB protection IO, which can run for several million.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Where do I go and turn off XP for missions? I find I always have difficulties getting influence, and have been toying with the idea of running missions for influence only.
Is this offside? Can this be done? Should this be done? Would it be a waste of time to do this?
Help,
Financially Challenged
[/ QUOTE ]
The other questions are - what level are you, and why are you "financially challenged?"
Were you buying TOs and DOs early on? They - especially TOs - tend to be... well, not worth the INF.
Are you selling the DOs and SOs that drop, that you can't use, at the appropriate stores? They will sell for more at the stores that share an origin with them (IE, a Tech SO sold to a Tech store will get more INF than a Tech SO sold at, say, a Mutation store.)
Are you continually buying TOs, DOs, or even SOs? Look into common IOs, which don't expire, and for a somewhat higher initial outlay, save money in the long run.
Edit:
Heck, I gave someone else a bit of a tip on making some INF early on, similar to the "Buy recipes cheap and sell them for more at the vendor" mentioned above, where using the market I could find SOs for around 1500 INF or so - often less - and sell them for several thousand INF. Pay attention to what they, and recipes, sell for, buy and sell as you come across them. -
I seem to recall Fire's self heal being up pretty often - have to double check one of my lowbie fire tanks, though. Too used to my high level ones.
-
I'm... eh.
Not against more accolades and such. Guess I'd have to see how widespread they'd be and what all they'd do, considering them case by case. The idea in general though... *shrug* why not.
And honestly - the very first one they should put in would be an accolade tutorial accolade, something that steps you through it and shows you what to do, while giving a minor "something." I have to wonder just how many people in the game actually know about unlockable accolades, or even look at their badge list and see that tab. -
[ QUOTE ]
I absolutely agree on the "give them a break" point. This is my wanting to know if I'm remembering things wrong, which the overall consensus seems that I am! :P
