Quote:... huh? What I'm saying is, rather than make being in a supergroup a mandatory part of the game, make it an additional layer of gameplay someone can experience if they decide to participate.
SGs are about as mandatory right *now* as wearing pink tutus if you're a Blaster. -
Quote:Personally? I'd have a hard time caring *less* about the market. As it is, we can email salvage back and forth, store them in slots, in the vault, in the SG base - how would the OP's suggestion have any more or less impact on the market? And how, exactly, would keeping stuff off the market lower prices?
I suspect, quite frankly, that it wouldn't even be noticed. After all, we're repeatedly told nobody can "control" the market through their actions (and "even less so with the upcoming merge!") If that's true for price manipulation (via flipping, buying up stock, etc,) then it's got to be true for letting someone hold a little more salvage globally. (And yes, I see it as a little - I don't think they'd go for 1000 pieces, 200 or so perhaps, sure... and for someone like me, on either account, that's perhaps 2 1/2 pieces per character per account.) -
They are. I wouldn't argue with having SG-specific missions/arcs (and not "heavy on multiple-teams-needed" or even "full team needed") added, though. (Then again, an SG can create custom missions/arcs in AE.)
-
Quote:Nope. Being straightforward. You can deal with "any challenge" with pretty much any competent team. No "Well, if you have THIS, you're fine." You're still staying stuck in the "Tank +Healer +...." and that's still not needed, required, or even necessarily optimal.
1-8 of anything played competently = you can deal with pretty much anything. Breaking people *out* of the "holy trinity" mindset - which I fully admit IS needed in other games, just not here - = more opportunities for more enjoyment, and an opening up of playstyles (as opposed to "sit at the door and wait while the leader finds the 'healer' they simply MUST Have.")
Why is it "effective" in other games? Honestly, it's *needed* in other games.
It's not here. Not INeffective, but not all that great a difference from pretty much any other team makeup. -
I've got to admit, my reaction to this is - "er, what? That bugs you, when randomly exploding with light doesn't?"
Plus, not only can you move the level/health/etc indicators around (and drop another set on your head if you want,) but they do serve a purpose, especially with SSKing - where your level can and will change, depending on team/mission/etc. with some frequency.
It is small and out of the way. I'm just not seeing how it can be all that "immersion breaking," personally, compared with the rest of the UI (or civilians pushing around a tanker that an AV can't budge, or so many other things in this game.) I know, it can be "one of those things," but still... -
Quote:They're stereotypically used for farming and/or PLing.I have yet to create a fire/kin troller and am interested, but a few questions first. All I seem to hear about is the hate from other players concering fire/kin controllers. Why are they considered to be so bad?
If you want to play one, go for it. People will make assumptions. *shrug* I don't care when I'm on mine (still admittedly a lowbie.) If I'm on mine, it's because that's what I felt like playing, and that should be the sum total of any concern about any AT/powerset in general. -
None, honestly. I'm such an alt-a-holic I don't have a "I'm going to log into this most of the time" type character. Sometimes I feel like a high level, sometimes a lowbie, sometimes a villain, sometimes a hero, and then if I have friends on, whatever works with what they're playing.
-
Find friends, beat on each other - the drops are rare, moreso from only dropping from other players. Alternately, go to the market forum and play that, spending 2b or so per IO - it' would probably be faster than waiting on the drops. >.<
-
Acrobatics - eh. Don't tend to find it that necessary on my MMs. Even if I do get KB'd, it's not essential to my survival in most cases. Take it if you want - but since you have CJ, you may (money/drop luck/MA tickets providing) want to look into a -KB IO to throw in there.
Life drain - I tend to have on mine purely for thematic reasons. (I actually generally like the power as an "attack with a heal," regardless.)
Look into a patron. Get your shield. On my Thugs/Poison, I ended up taking Black Scorpion - power boost, second hold to stack with Paralytic if needed, AOE immob and the shield (not in that order.) You said it's been a lengthy absence - for patrons, you still have to do one of their arcs, but you're not locked into the patron pool at all. (And you can, should you choose, use a second build, as well.) Compare the patron pools here.
Skippable in Poison - Poison Trap.
Potentially - Elixir of Life (rez,) Antidote. Can't use the first on your pets (and teammates might not appreciate a pseudo-hold as they puke 90 sec. later.) Antidote I like having around to clear mezzes from my pets, so it's useful solo as well.
Personal preference - I tend to like Gloom over Dark Blast, specifically for being a DOT (ok, and whipping a skull at someone.) If they're going to do something interruptable, it lasts long enough to interrupt it.
At 38, my Nec/Poi is pretty much "All of the primary but Dark Blast, all of the secondary but Elixir and PT, CJ/SJ, Swift/Health/Stamina." Nothing fancy, and plans from there are mostly picking up Soul Mastery. (Thematic, again.) -
Quote:Seconding this. It can be very safe (Ballista lands perhaps one hit while fighting him, f'rinstance) but this particular combo nearly put me off MMs completely. (Ran it first because, yes, it *is* thematic. But ugh, bored me to death.)The TOUGH thing about Robot/FF, which I happen to have a 50.. Is it is very boring at times..
I do, however, like to be busy (or at least involved,) and Bots/FF didn't really give me that. You may like it. Personally, I'd agree with /Traps or /Dark. -
Quote:Since I have to be the dissenter, I don't like Illusion *now.* So to me it already *is* worse than Gravity unless I want to be really, really invisible. If phantom army had not taunt power and acted like voltaic sentinel would you still play illusion? and if so would it be worse then gravity?

"Acted like VS?" Another reason for me to skip Illusion, if that were the case. My Elec/ blasters take Voltaic - but I've got damage, more damage, and a secondary full of damage to go with it. (First 50, back in I3/I4, was an Elec/Elec blaster.) They're expecting, and can handle, that aggro quickly and effectively through rapid removal of enemy HP.
Grav needs some tweaks (see also Propel animation time) but it's still far more fun for me to play than Illusion. -
Quote:That would be the first power in your secondary, and one of the two first ones in your primary. The game was designed a certain way, and there are certain powers in each set that are not suppose to be skipped.
Everything else, the player has a choice about.
Don't like it, too bad. If I see someone skipping a power they may not understand (or even catch it by what they say,) I'll send a polite tell. "Hey, did you know X power does XYZ? Might help you. Throw it on your second build, see how it works for you/PM me, I'll show you on mine/etc." But kick? No. Only if somone's being completely incompetent, a leech, or build nazi ("You don't have this, you suck!") will any kicking (or leaving, if I'm not the leader) be done. -
-
I just want to be a Nemesis nemesis again.
-
Depends what you mean by "rules." A team leader should maintain some degree of control over the team - if two (or more) team members won't get along or coooperate, or one insists on AFKing two minutes into every mission and leeching, they should do something. OTOH, if they feel they have to micromanage everything and "We MUST do it MY way," it's not a fun team.
Rules:
- Don't be a twit. -

Quote:Which you get to do without ever bothering with the market or with farming. Or with PVP. Or with IOs. See the join date? I was doing it before any of that (or even villainside) even existed. I still do it now.But what of the people who have no interest in the market game.. Or the farm game.. Why can't we play the game for what it was meant to be which is playing a hero or a villain..
Look into them again.Quote:And once you do a mission which takes pretty much the same it takes to do a contact mission.. You get tickets for some random stuff.. which 80% of the time you don't need and is listed on the market for 500 inf.
Even with SOs (which, by the way, I still have *current* builds that are mostly SOs) I don't die 5x during missions. If you're dying that frequently on a regular basis, it's not the build that's the problem, I have to say.Quote:I will tell you for what.. Because I would like to have a decent build like many other players. I want to have good build so I don't need to die 5x during a mission.
Won't call me a liar, but will infer it. Just as bad, bucko.Quote:If your gonna tell me your doing random AE missions just to check them out on a regular basis and not farming some sort of AE mission.. I will tell you, I just find it hard to believe.. I won't call you a liar.. But I just don't believe your just plugging in random AE missions.
See the link in my sig? Copy of the various guides I've thrown up. Search for me in the Player Guides section, or follow the link... specifically to the MA tutorials. (Last link.) I wrote up a ton of them to walk through AE on release. Some things have changed a bit, yes.
So. Seeing that, want to re-think that statement?
"Easier?" They'll do it regardless. Change one thing, they shift to another. Also, don't confuse farming with power leveling.Quote:Your saying people are going to farm.. Your right.. But why is it being made easier for them to do it ?
Ever hear of the sewers? Hell, walking to my first mission and back I'm usually level 4 at least, regardless of where I start. Your point?Quote:Your level 1.. BAM you can run to AE kill some fat chick in a clown costume and your getting a level.. You go in the mission level 1, you come out level 6.. What the hell is that ??
*points at join date* Been here since then.Quote:Look AE has just not turned into what they expected.. Or what many players expected.. You can't find a veteran player that will say AE has made this a better game.. Veteran meaning someone who was here before AE came out..
While others have exploited, and the devs have adjusted to combat that, AE has made this a better game.
Something called "Patience."Quote:Even Salvage goes for crazy prices.. One day Iron Salvage is 100 inf.. Next day its at 5k because 2 guys decided to buy it all and resell it for higher. -
You do know what they say about "when you assume," correct?
Though I wouldn't argue with this. Or lowering the rate a bit.Quote:Make them fixed price item purchases at the markets
Edit: /disagree with making them drop "pre-made." Precluses being able to send specific ones to characters that would better be able to use them, for one. -
Quote:/this. And I have to agree with most of the comments - ignore fighting, grab the first two attacks. I don't care for hasten one way or the other - hell, first 50 was an elec/elec blaster with teleport. If you stay with leaping, try to snag a -kb IO. Just need one. Fit it in CJ (since you're also getting immob protection there.)I like sparky! (Voltaic Sentinel) It goes all nuts with the zap, zap (-Recovery and -End on th
Grab Tesla Cage earlier. Much earlier.
Stealth - up to you, but there are other ways to get it now. (You can put it off and do a patrol in Bloody Bay at 15-25 for Hyper Stealth, 30 min, up to 3x, then in Siren's Call for Combat Invis - which, unlike the invis power pool, you can attack from. Potentially you can get an iO, but I wouldn't hold my breath there.)
If you're going force mastery, remember you can't attack from PFF. Also, if you get it earlier, Force of Nature opens at 47. -
Quote:Aside from the rest just being a bad idea - this is complete BS.
I don't think it fair we can have all these good memories but all the people who started in 2006 or later never got to feel super powerful.
You want powerful? Go compare one of our *so-so* characters and what they can face versus a median, or even powerful, character in *just about any other MMO.*
Go play Aion. Go experience "You can fight 1v1. Take a minute per wolf/bat/whatever critter we have you beating up. You *might* be able to handle 2v1. Oh, just hope it's not that pack of Elites you have to run through at level 10." Then come here and crank up the difficulty since 3v1 is *too easy.*
The game is many, many times better now without the useless BS from pre-ED, where everyone stood around waiting for the tank to herd the map and one person nuked. If the game had kept going that way, the game would be *dead* now. -
What's needed - a decent player.
Stalkers already open with a good, solid hit - and a chance for an AOE fear to mitigate a return strike, which was added in part because of "wanting to give something more to a team."
I haven't had the OP's experiences... well, ever.
Quote:But I think I see your problem:
Had people quit the team because the leader invited a stalker.
Had people threaten to quit the team, until the leader boots me.
In nearly 100% of the time People will say in Team for me to read it: "A stalker?, ugh Stalker. Oh boy Stalker etc"

Quote:... and that's why I went AMD for so long. No, the Socket 1156 is being replaced with Socket 1155 (yea, I know what's one pin?) but Intel is switching for switching sake and yes, they aren't backwards or forwards compatible. It's essentially the same as Socket 1156 but for their mainstream line of 32nm CPUs where the Socket 2011 will be replacing Socket 1366 for their high end 32nm CPU line. It's also reported that Socket 2011 CPUs will start at six cores.
I like my 1156-based I7-860. Runs quite nicely, little cheaper on RAM, etc. But I look at the upgrade path... then I look over at the system it replaced, now four years old, and after a BIOS upgrade (full disclosure, the system didn't like the BIOS upgrade at first, started choking on drivers - to the point where I did the upgrade, then a clean install) and I can throw in a fairly recent quad core Athlon II or Phenom II. I don't see getting much *more* stretch out of it (Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless) but I can't help but wonder where *this* system will be four years from now, upgrade-wise.
No regrets, though. It does the job quite well, and three years will be "new system" time anyway most likely.
