    PVP IOs

PVPers have been complaining about the drop rates for PVP IOs for a long time. If you increase the drop rate to make them common, then inevitably they will lose out on the money they've already spent. But overall, it benefits the whole community.
I'm assuming by "the whole community" you mean "the whole PVP community," as opposed to the "whole COH community." They have increased the drop rate on items once that I can think of - costume pieces. Used to be you needed around 14-20 million for a set of wings. Now, cheap. But those weren't meant to be rare. And that DID benefit the whole community.

Suddenly invalidating peoples builds does not benefit *anyone.* It would, frankly, be more likely to *shrink* the community. Someone works on a build, manages to get the money for those IOs (or the merits) and then a day, week, or month later it's invalid?

Go look at the reaction to ED and the GDN. People DO leave over these things.

You prob. spent at least 5 billion making that one build for both PVP and PVE.
So why spend more to have to make two builds? You now have to find SOMETHING to make up what you're losing from those now-useless PVP IOs.
    Quote:
IF you separate the bonuses, and increase the drop rate on PVPs, you can IO out 2 builds (PVP AND PVE) for the price you spend on ONE build. And you made PVP more accessible to the rest of the player population. AND you solve the AFK farming problem.
You're dreaming if you think you can "io out 2 builds for the price you spend on one." The PVP drop rate wouldn't be ratcheted up that far. And as far as "making PVP more accessible to the rest of the player population?" Well, I13 was supposed to do that, too. Look at how *dead* it is. The rest of the population, for the most part, *doesn't care* about PVP if not *actively dislikes* it. This was the case even BEFORE I13.

IMHO, you've got it backwards. PVP was more "accessible" before issue *9.* Yes, the issue inventions were introduced. Everyone had SOs or, at best, Hamis. If anything, the PVP builds should be - if you're trying to go for "accessibility to everyone" - restricted to non-set IOs. Just regular recipes, common IOs and your insp tray. Of course, then you irritate the... what, 20? remaining hardcore PVPers in the game and they leave because you've just invalidated the work and time THEY put into their builds.

Short form: You want a guaranteed PVP IO, stay on one "full" alignment and work on your merits, and spend the rest of the time PVPing. Merits = guaranteed PVP IO, PVPing = chance for one.

Mender Silos is an anagram for Lord Nemesis as demonstrated here:
    Mender Silos
    Lo Mender Sis
    Lor Mende Sis
    Lord Mene Sis
    Lord Ne me Sis

This has all along fueled speculation that the letter writer is a future, past, or alternate universe version of Lord Nemesis. I'm not sure that anything in the Incarnate arc solves the argument 100%.
Actually, if you finish the incarnate arc and start asking Ramiel questions, he says flat out that yes, Mender Silos was Nemesis once.

One time... yeah. But we've gotten a few of them. Sometimes unintentionally.

    Then and Now.

Guess I've done a lot of tweaking since I3 (more than I thought.)

Also, just made sure to go back to (nearly) the same spot - I3 vs I19 graphics :

Issue 3 (Athlon XP 1700 or so, 512 Mb RAM perhaps, Geforce 5200) Kings Row vs Issue 19 (i7-860, 4 gig, Radeon HD 5770.)

    In other superhero games, yeah....

I've got to admit, though, I was rather jealous of APB. (Well, aside from how textures became a mess of pixels after being applied to things, even if they weren't scaled.)

Made graffiti look odd, at times, as well as some car designs.

Aion's got - or had - some good character creation and animation as well (which you then lose under the "go g3t l335 g34rz" grind.)

  8. How does it work on OS X, currently? It's not external to the whole Cider... thing, I'd assume - which does make me wonder just what they'll do with the launcher exactly. Aion, by contrast (and the only other one of theirs I have/have run) didn't have a separate launcher, but went right into the game from there.

(Personally, I don't recall having a problem with the launcher - then again, used it w/Aion and COH after getting my current i7-860.)

    PVP IOs

And what would you do with those people who are already using them for both PVP and PVE?

... but only *just* after the Rikti finish washing it and shining it up. After all, that's when birds attack cars...
  11. The door's opened up to you already in the 20s.

That's not you. You're just getting a peek into your doppelganger's life. *You* are just studying and out of the public eye as you learn to eat a bunch of breath mints as an offensive strategy.

Well, prior dev comments have indicated that the Incarnate material won't necessarily coincide with the issue release schedule. Besides, it's something else (besides events) they can drop between issue releases.

    Booster, no.

    Issue, yes.

How would a booster with "base love" work? Few people work on the bases, compared with those that use it. If there's (for instance) a 4-location teleporter, do you not get to use it unless you also bought the "Base booster?" Not get to see the items on the wall/floor/etc? If it's (for instance) new wall textures, do you just see the generic one unless you have the pack?

Costumes are account specific, and don't really require interaction from anyone else. Bases are (generally) a shared resource.
  14. The only pieces that require you to do anything to claim - ok, there's a short list, but:

    - "Super boosters" and specific editions (Mac, GvE, etc) - just buy them, they'll be immediately available in the costume creator. (This includes items that the "normal" versions require an unlock, such as capes and auras.)

    - Capes and auras - Run a mission after level 20, from the City Hall rep or your first Villainside contact. (See note above for exceptions.)

    - Costume recipes - Purchase/have drop, then craft, and they'll be available immediately after.

    - Roman pieces - Finish an ITF.

    - Vanguard pieces - Purchased with merits. For bladed weapons, there are additional customization options.

    - Ruularu pieces - Overseer defeats badge, I believe. (Sword/axe/shield)

    - Witch hat (heroside, different fro magic pack) - finish a Katie Hannon TF.

Full list with pictures, see the wiki. Since I know I'm forgetting some: Unlockables
  15. It got bored.

Also, this tends (the way I see it) to follow the "Everyone else in game is just your supporting cast" view of the storyline. Yes, there are more incarnates - but you're not looking at "every 50 on every server = new incarnate." In your character's "world," there's the few mentioned, a few unknowns, and you taking the "long path." Much like we don't have the Rikti breaking in time and time again to steal Hero-1's letter, or stop Nemesis's weather control scheme over and over, or there's a parade of "destined ones" beating up Recluse in the future, coming back and handing him his helmet. (He'd have quite a pile there.)
  16. Not true at this time. It is, however, suggested (with various mixes of powers) with some regularity.

Yes, I want to see it (with a Dark Assault pairing for Doms.)
  17. Nope... and thank $deity.

(Latest Maclife or macworld... one of those two... reviewed going rogue, didn't like the lack of voice chat - but ugh, I'm *so* glad we don't have it. Put up with it for about 10 minutes in APB when that came out, killed it afterward.)
  18. Please don't post build requests in here. This is a section for guides written by players for players.

For build requests, see your appropriate Archetype forum.

(Edit: Reason I'm saying this is that if someone's looking for a guide, it'll be easier for them to actually *find* it if they're not tripping over build requests. Keeps the forum neater.)
  19. You say "as of late," has anything changed? Drivers get updated? (And when IS the last time the drivers update?) Of course, Microsoft updates monthly - but I'd expect it to bite everyone, or everyone with some certain portion of a configuration, the same way.

Win7 64 bit, two systems (one ATI, one nVidia,) both properly take screenshots here. Non-windowed.

May also want help tracking this down in the Tech Issues section.

You need to learn how the market works.

When I *do* sell stuff, it's generally 5 inf. Sometimes I get 5 inf. Sometimes I get 5 million. If I'm keeping stuff, it's stuff I'll use - so it wouldn't be on the market anyway.

If you don't want to pay "high prices," bid low and/or use the alternatives (play the game, use AE, etc.) I haven't bought a luck charm, for instance, in a long, long time thanks to AE rolls. Last ones I bought on the market (and used) were JUST after the markets went cross faction and I was getting them for 1-3000 a piece. Only have 150 tickets? Congrats. 8 tickets a piece for common salvage. You have 18 rolls to get a luck charm, and you'll probably end up with more stuff to put on the market.

Yep. Really hurting it there. (*lists more Alchemical Silver I got that way but didn't need for 5 a piece.*)
  21. Can't recall what I'd done to change those. I do recall having to /reloadgfx a few times to straighten them out, though.

    Like these:

    ... for the blueprint look.

... for the "When office plants attack" scenario.

And this one, oddly, I kind of like...

DB is fun... and if you play a db stalker, has one of the nastiest looking ASes of the stalker sets. Don't worry overmuch about chasing combos, but don't completely ignore them either. Just have to work them in when appropriate.
  23. Yeah, the Mecha Epic AT was one of the most original EAT ideas I've seen floated - tried to keep it alive through a few old-board-purges, it finally went away unfortunately.
  24. Please acquaint yourself with EAT lore. Warshades are not "villainous." The point of a Warshade (lore-wise) is that they are trying to redeem themselves. That they've turned their back on (and are fighting against) the Nictus.

And /signed to longbow being lame. (Not to mention easily replicated in game. Inv/SS? Spines? Illusion?) Doubly unsigned to them being an EAT if they get the same, lousy treatment, arc-wise (y'know, the "Epic" in "Epic AT" = the story they're tied to) the VEATs were given.
