lol j.k. MB stands for motherboard. Another possibility could be a power issue. Once everything gets to a higher load, it may be causing problems. Even f it worked before, power stability can degrade over time, as well as any piece of hardware.

    Edit:
Back_Blast scooped me by seconds on my own initials! haha

If you don't have enough ram, the system will use the hard drive for the extra memory instead. If you defragged the drive, it will make this process much easier, and improve your performance because instead of several small gaps of memory on the drive for the system to search for and use, there is now a larger open area.

Like he said, having more ram to begin with might help even more and you wont have to worry about it happening again once the drive becomes more cluttered again over time. I can tell you from experience that back in the day, going from 1gb to 4gb caused a very noticeable and significant speed to zoning.

Mind you, I'm not saying that placing the CoH files in a faster area of the drive doesn't do anything at all. I'm sure it can help give you a few extra seconds, and it's certainly worth a try for anybody who can't afford to go out and purchase a memory upgrade. I was simply answering your question as to why RAM could be an underlying issue.

Same here. I've seen the ??? show up in an uncovered area of the map, but when I killed the mob in the hallway in front of that room, the mission ended, the ??? disappeared, and there was nothing even inside the room. I'm wondering if it was actually an invisible spawn that triggers the cutscene or something.

I also had a strange thing occur on a CoT map. Entering the last room (after already clearing out the "jail" room), I killed 2 of the 3 mobs, and when only 1 mob remained, the red arrows showed up. But.. not only did the red arrows for my last mob show up, but about a dozen red arrows showed up in the Jail room.

Further examination of the arrows showed that they were marking the Mystical Barrier (Jail doors), the Dampening Field (-TP zone in each cell), and even the [Crystal of Pain]s (the Red damage crystals). The Red Damage crystals in my current room did not show up as a red arrow. The ones in various other areas of the map did not either. They can not be targeted, and neither can the dampening fields. It seems silly for them to have shown up.

I defeated the last spawn and all arrows disappeared just as mysteriously as they appeared. haha

    To the op:
Some missions apparently have objects or areas that might internally count as an entity and it may be affecting the way the "last objective" feature is working. If you have more than one foe in a single mob left, it should be displaying for you, but if you have a runner from more than one mob, it counts as 2 active mobs and usually wont show you where they are yet.

Windows reads the path no matter which slash you use, or even if you put several in a row.

    To prove it, try this:
    Start > Run > "C:\Program Files\/\City of Heroes/CohUpdater.exe"
Even though the slashes are all crazy, the game still opens just fine.
Same goes for Internet explorer or Firefox (usually). You can put the slashes in either direction and it'll fix it on it's own.

    To the OP:
I believe the problem here can be solved by actually MOVING the CohUpdater.exe file to the desktop instead of using a shortcut to it. During installation, it will try to create or overwrite CohUpdater.exe inside the folder, but it'll tell you it has insufficient permissions if it's already in use. Running it from the desktop usually ensures there wont be any permission problems in the folder.
  5. Having many parts change to something completely different is normal when you are editing a costume that is a couple issues old. As parts are added to the database, things get moved around. I'm sure most of us have had this happen on more than one occasion over the years.

In fact, I had this happen several times the other day when I wanted to change my character's with tails to animated ones. Most of them have been around for years. I ended up taking a screenshot so I could reference it and put things back to the way they were. I was not charged for anything except the tail change once I got it all back to normal... I mean, that's would I would have been charged if I didn't use my free token anyway. haha

However, MOST of the fees are usually reversed when you put the exact items back. There have only been a few times where 1 or 2 selections would refuse to reset. Then again, this is part of why we get the free tokens on each issue to begin with.

As for your color being off. I have never had that happen. I can tell you that the lighting and environment in the "Costume box" is different than inside the tailor, or outside in the street, so that might account for the slight change. Either that or you were editing your costume while in SG mode. That has had strange side-effects in the past. I always recommend leaving SG mode before doing any editing, just to make sure.

I think there is another thread or two regarding the power customization getting reset. I haven't been keeping tabs on it, so I'm unsure what the status is on that or if we'll be getting more free tokens to re-fix them again. It could be important to save your custom power profiles so you can set them back quickly if they get reset again later.

    Good luck!

But I dunno... kept defaulting back to "Single Match" whenever settings get moved around or a certain amount of time goes by, or when we even hit the start button.

We even tried it with 8 people, no teams

I'll try to look into that bugged report that you mentioned.
Like I said... what you just quoted says "to run a pentad match", not a swiss draw.

And that bugged Swiss draw thread is only a couple posts below this one. I'm surprised you didn't see it:
Swiss Draw impossible to start? Bugged?

I think that method is referring to the Pentad/Septad match, not the Swiss draw. A Swiss Draw can have any 8 characters and there are no teams, but there must be 8 people to start.

On a side note, there is another thread going that mentioned this is currently bugged. For some reason it reverts back to a Single Match.

In short, I don't think you did anything wrong. It's just not working right now.

    Facemaker Crash

I /bug reported something similar the other day on the test server. I use the same video options on both live and test, so I don't think that was a factor. My steps to reproduce was to load the tailor screen, save the costume to a file, then exit the tailor. It immediately freezes and I repeated it 4 times. Doing the same thing at the same Facemaker in Cap on Live was working just fine.

It depends when they quit, or when the other people quit their matches. I've found that the entire match can get bugged if people quit immediately after zoning. For best results, wait for the horn to blow and the match to actually begin. Otherwise one member might not be fully zoned or synced yet and the game wont always declare the winner correctly, causing the next round to act strangely.

So, while his "advise" may have been correct, it was hardly helpful.
I didn't see it that way at all. I saw him as providing a workaround for those who can utilize it. There is nothing WE can do to fix the bug, but we can inform others about what to possibly do until it is fixed. I agree with him that any lvl 50 heading to Cimerora should use other means to get there until it is fixed, and he gave a good suggestion. Even a non lvl-50 who has the Mission Transport power has a way to get there if they get a first mission from Daedalus or Sister Airlia and save it until the door is fixed.

I'll agree that it's not ideal and it doesn't fix the problem, but it's the only thing we, as players, can do right now.

Sheesh! I guess I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one whose been the recipient of your particular brand of rudeness.
Zombie's previous post started that way. Magikwand quoted him with reasons why it's wrong, so Zombie was simply stating the condition he gave was specifically listed for level 50. Obviously it was not intended to be universal advice for all levels, so the counter-argument didn't make sense. I agree with him that at lvl 50, there is no excuse to not have an Ouro portal, in which case you would certainly have access to that method.

On a side note, I frequently head to Cimerora while already on a team, so the Ouro trick wouldn't always work in my case. On a couple toons, I do have one of the actual missions saved so I can use Mission Transporter to get there without even zoning to Ouro first. It doesn't take long to get near a university and go through Midnighter's anyway, and if you get stuck in the ground, it only takes a friendly TP to get you to where you belong.

In any case, I agree with magikwand's last statement and with everybody else... it still needs to be fixed.

Ah yes, I had not considered the level restriction. Since it was abolished, it's easy to forget about. lol

And now that you mention it, though the Croatoa spawns can be large, they aren't of the caliber of Underbosses hiding around the corner like Striga has.

Thanks for the reminder. It certainly makes more sense now.
  13. Besides the display error, the other possibility is if a member of your supergroup left and made you lose their bonus prestige, resulting in a negative number... but I guess if that were the case, you'd be a lot more negative than that. I go with the above. lol
  14. It should be like this:

    /bind numpad1 "local Time for a boost!$$cc_e 1 ccserum"

What's happening when you run your command is the bind itself is not even being processed correctly, then it's running the command after the $$. That's why only the costumes change happens. Enclose it in quotes and fix the KEY_NAME, and you should be fine.

I'm talking about the difference between Striga and Croatoa. They seem fairly similar to me. I guess Striga does have some large spawns in the swamps, but Croatoa has it's heavy spawn areas in the woods as well.
  17. I have noticed the same thing. There deem to be more patrols in the missions. This is not to be confused with an ambush. An ambush is spawned at a particular time/event and the foes come to a get you. A patrol is really spawned in the same place a mob would be, but wanders throughout the map. If you get to the end of a hallway and nothing is there, they are probably hiding behind something else and mixed within another mob later on, or they might be circling around and pop up behind you when you least expect it.

Either there are more patrols, or I just happen to be playing the missions that have patrols in them anyway. haha

    ty
You can run the Trial as many times as you want, but you can only select the Respec reward up to 3 times total. Each level bracket (24+, 34+, 44+) will qualify you for your next respec trial, and the ability to earn another one. It doesn't actually matter which trial you run, as long as you meet the requirements to qualify for the reward.

An easy way to tell if you have already claimed a respec from a trial is to look at your badges. You are only awarded the Accolade badges for the Trial by selecting the respec reward instead of merits.

Your other options are to use the free respec that we get with almost every new Issue release by typing /respec. There are respec recipes that you can earn, drop, or buy and craft into a respec that you can use. This is considered a "free" respec and cannot be created if you already have a free respec from an Issue release. Type /respec to use it.

Respecs can also be purchased at the character selection screen for about $10. Make sure you highlight the character you want to respec before you purchase it, or it may go to the wrong one. Purchased Respecs are considered "earned" and stackable. They are used by visiting the ingame contacts...

The only reason I guessed a year is because I don't recall it being there when we did it on our first wave of our Freedom Horde Monday night TFs. I guess I just got into the habit of using Base so long ago that I wouldn't really have noticed when it was added. We'll have to ask our resident Shard expert, Eddie. He probably has the exact date it was added written down somewhere. lol

They really should put it on the map.
  21. A respec only changes the current build. If you want to respec your alternate build, you need to first change to that build, and then do the respec.

It'd be the same link. It should have shown version 0.2.0.2 at the top of your results unless you edited it out for some reason.

    For example:

    DxDiag gathered at May 5, 2010 01:24 (-04:00)
It even has the link right in the output as well. I just don't understand why it's getting that crazy output if it's the current version.

But are you using the newest version of CoH_Helper? You left out the first line of your report that shows the version you are using. There are a lot of new registry entries since Ultra mode and using the old version may mess up the results.

Also, dying & choosing the hospital route will put you in the FBZ Base Hospital, not PI.
Correct. FBZ has a hospital area in the NW corner of the first main area. As long as you passed through FBZ to get to any of the other shard maps (instead of using mission transporter), the hospital option will bring you there. Otherwise it will bring you back to the last zone that you were in that had one.

I forget when that hospital was added, but I believe it to be within the last year or so.. I think when dayjobs were added maybe? That's why many people recall being sent back to PI. I still prefer using the Base option instead though unless I'd zone into the middle of a mob or I'm not too far out. lol
