Swiss Draw impossible to start? Bugged?

I think there's a bug that makes it impossible to start a Swiss Draw (or I'm just too stupid in which case I hope that you'll not only tell me that but also explain what do to ).

We had 7 L50s and 1 L47.

We noticed, that the setting "Swiss Draw" only showed in the event window of the person who was about to create it. All persons who were invited to the event read "Single Match" instead. On clicking the "Start Event" button "Swiss Draw" resetted to "Single Match" in the event window of the event creator (still was "Single Match" for everyone else) and loaded everyone into a one on one on the same map ("No Teams" setting selected).

Selecting "Swiss Draw" doesn't change any other settings for the event even if that means that the min requirements are not fullfilled. So we tried playing around with some options.

We tried different options from the "More Options" section: "default", "no pool, no travel, no inspiration", "all inspirations and all other options besides no pool and no travel".
We tried "Super Heavyweight" and "Any".
We tried "Random Map" and "Caged Match".
We tried with max players set to 4, 8 and to 64.
We tried "No Teams" and "Open Teams".
We tried "Timed" and "Last Man Standing"
We tried with "Rated" checked and unchecked and with "Invite Only" checked and unchecked.
# of minutes was always set to "10".
We tried with different people creating the event.
Plus we tried relogging characters and restarting the client.

We didn't check all of the possible combinations from the above mentioned options especially not those with settings that seemed unreasonable (like setting to "Open Teams", "Last Man Standing" or "Caged Match") but we tested most of the other combinations. Some combinations were tested with only 2 players in the event (to see if we could change the "Single Match" to "Swiss Draw" in the event window of the invited player somehow.

We ran a Pentad successfully before trying to run the Swiss Draw.

I repeated some tests and changed "# of minutes" to 5, 10 and to 20 with no one on the team and tried to list a Swiss Draw event which wasn't possible and always resetted "Swiss Draw" to "Single Match". Listing a "Custom Freeform Tournament" ("Single Match" setting) was possible.

Any ideas what else to test? Or some advice how to do it right?
Did someone run a Swiss Draw after the I17 patch?

I tried this also and had the same thing happen.

Its probably bugged.

Also Gladiators matches for rated matches seem bugged as well

When i've tried it, it was a few months ago, but it also seemed bugged.
We could do the Swiss Draw, but there was no consistancy with who moved to the next row. Half the time, it was those who lost that advanced. So it was a real gamble to guess who are the two to get to the 4th(?) round.

The way to do it is designate a winner for each set of rounds. The winner never quits until he gets the badge, but everyone else quits the match. After the winner gets the badge, then designate a new winner. Everyone should get the badge unless they do something like exit the last match too early. It should take about an hour with 8 people.

But please note, that the problem is not how to do a Swiss Draw (I know this) but how to start it after the I17 patch.

We have just had the same problem in Union, 8 players ready to go but as soon as any of us joined the event it resetted to Single Match, we tried it at least 3 times and all the time the same, besides all of us tried to list the event, but it didn't work.

It depends when they quit, or when the other people quit their matches. I've found that the entire match can get bugged if people quit immediately after zoning. For best results, wait for the horn to blow and the match to actually begin. Otherwise one member might not be fully zoned or synced yet and the game wont always declare the winner correctly, causing the next round to act strangely.

i'm having the same issue. i wish i would have seen this thread before i spent 2 hours trying to make it work today. oh well, can we get an update when this gets fixed?

Observer bots in arena matches no longer fly, but instead "run" at very slow paces, making observing matches near impossible. This started at the release of i17.

Yeah, I quit all of the TFs right after they started and I didn't get the badges either, do I have to wait until later to quit?

Btw, someone told me that they got the Tournament badge recently (after I17), so I assume this issue doesn't affect all people. I will test some more things when I have the time, maybe I get lucky and find something.

This has nothing to do with the Tournament badge, not even with Arena badges in general. And neither of you describes something that seems to be a bug or related to a bug. You have to finish a TF to get the badge for it. If you get it any other way it's very likely that this would be a bug. And like the vast majority of badges they're tied to the character who completed the TF and are NOT awarded account based.

If there was no badge attached it would be just thrown aside with the rest of the ever increasing pile of pvp related bugs.

I just tried to set up a Swiss Draw tournament last week and was unable to do so. So yes, it's bugged.
