  1. If you want to find half of fame arcs just look for an arc that is 2 or 3 stars. Since hall of fame is 5 stars then half of fame would be 2.5 stars.

Wanna know what those rewards were? Badges. Something unique to the collectors.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wha? Pre exp nerf GMs used to be able to get you several bubbles of exp per. That was the main reason they were hunted. The badges were just a nice bonus. Except of course for the badge hunters in which case they were the very reason to keep existing.
  3. I think you missed the point. When you are creating an arc you are constantly entering the mission to check correct item/mob placement and mob strength (at least I am). That means you either have to leave Studio B to test your arc or you have to be in the main room to write it.

There is a much easier solution however. Whenever I want to work on my arc I just go to Faultline or one of the other less populated zones and do it there. It's even quieter than Studio B.
  4. Most people in forums who claim to be writers, or who talk about writing contest they enter... well to put it nicely their writing sucks.

Such is certainly not the case in the above story. It deserves publication in a major magazine at the least. Hopefully entering it into the contest didn't mean giving away the publication rights. It should at the very least be entered in the Writers of the Future contest.
  5. You actually have to click on the mission. Not the play button, just the mission area where the name is. It will then expand to show the Unpublish and Edit buttons.

Also, look at the actual gamefiles. If they are cityofheroes.exe and cohupdater.exe then you have the U.S. version of the game. If they are cityofheroes.eu.exe and cohupdater.eu.exe then you have the European version of the game.

No, it is not a single random triangle or a wedge of an extra polygon. It is literally thousands of random triangles on the screen. This is the best screenshot that I could find that is similar to what I see.

Similar to this, but with a lot more triangles.

If I thought posting Hijackthis and CoH Helper logs would help, I would have. I know Hijackthis can tell us if something is interfering with another program or if there is malware on the computer. CoH Helper only shows driver versions and settings, which are not the issue here. I stated which video drivers I am using because this is a video issue.

If it was overheating, I would see problems in other games. I don't want to spend the money on a new video card just because one game has issues.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That still looks like overheating. And no you wouldn't necessarily see it on other video games. CoH stresses the GPU much more than the great majority of video games out there. Do like I said and use speedfan or something similar and set your fan speed to 100%. See what that does.

And if it looks as bad as the image you put up then you can probably already find some ruptured resistors or capacitors on the card.

    The mood on MA

So did you fight your custom toons by hovering or flying above them and attacking with no fear of them ever being able to attack you? Because that's the reason the ranged attack was given to them.

It was possible to create boss level mobs that were very dangerous in melee, then just hover above them and rain down death with absolutely zero danger. It was an exploit.
  9. 15 foot tall green warriors with four arms? This I have to see.
  10. By random triangles do you mean that parts of the geometry (Maybe a cape, maybe a sign, maybe a wall, maybe anything) extend outward in a wedge that goes all the way across the screen?

If that's happening then the card is failing. And because it's failing it's maximum temperature it can reach before failing is getting lower and lower. Use some fan speed controlling application to max out your fan speed and drop the card temperature. I guarantee you will stop seeing the triangles of doom. At least until the temp/failure threshold gets low enough for the card to fail completely.
  11. The point is that you rated my arc a 2 because you couldn't find a glowie that was right in the middle of the screen. You could have tried looking harder or reset the mission (since it was the first) to see if it was a bug. Instead you judged it and lowered it's overall rating based on you not actually paying attention to the mission at all.

I wouldn't give your arc a bad review out of spite but I believe if you are going to do reviews you should actually pay attention to the arc instead of running it like it's a newspaper mission.

The object is a standard filing cabinet. It's obviously not that tiny since I was able to see it in your video which only took up perhaps a 3x5 inch section of my screen.

Saying that it's tiny and that you spent time trying to find it but couldn't is an obvious attempt to cover up for the fact that you gave an entire arc a bad rating just because you weren't paying attention in the first mission.

Sorry about the venom but I am quite pissed off right now. You seriously didn't even try. You seemed to just assume that it was a kill all then gave up when killing all didn't solve it. I wouldn't have cared about the 2 star rating if it was because you didn't like my sense of humor or choice of enemies. But instead it was because you weren't paying attention to what you were doing.
  12. Perhaps doing this in the form of a video diary is a bad idea because it's obvious you were tremendously distracted... or have vision and hearing problems.

5:36 Glowie becomes audible as you are on the other side of the wall from it.

5:43 You can see the glowie flashing in the background but partially hidden.

5:53 Glowie visible for several seconds right in the middle of the screen.

6:06 You jump straight at the glowie and the sound becomes audible again, then for some reason just as you are arcing down and would land right in front of it, you do a 180 and go chasing more Crey.

14:52 You are ten feet away from it. Right there! In front of those two big white looking containers. You jump directly over it and the sound becomes as loud as any glowie ever gets. But you just pass it by and head to the next room.

You think this mission made you frustrated? Imagine being the person who wrote it and being able to both see and hear the glowie multiple times while the person doing the review complains about how terrible the mission is and that they can't find anything to click.

If you want to run it again let me know and I'll have the glowie surrounded by mobs of crey waving their arms over their heads and yelling "Over Here!!!"

But I did expand on one piece of dialogue to let other people know they would be facing Crey and didn't have to defeat any of them if they didn't want to.

And now I'm off to rate your mission a 2 because I can't find the button that says "Yes I will accept the mission"

Please don't do any more of my arcs. Or anybody elses for that matter unless you have a seeing eye dog sitting by your side.
  13. I understand your frustration. They really need to upgrade the requirements list on current game box releases as well as on the website. But the current requirements for decent play are far beyond anything needed for WoW. And the requirements for play with settings maxed are far beyond that.
  14. Just getting back to this. That usually only happens when the log in server is down or there is a firewall in place blocking it. It's exactly like the error message stated.

So, are you still having the problem? If not then the log in server was down. If you are still having the problem then your firewall settings likely have to be changed to allow both cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe access.

    Some stats:

I have reviewed 52 arcs so far with an average rating of 3.788.

    I have rated 16 arcs as 5*
    I have rated 15 arcs as 4*
    I have rated 15 arcs as 3*
    I have rated 6 arcs as 2*
    I have rated 0 arcs as 1*.

But, in the last 26 reviews, I have only given out six 5* ratings, but four 2* ratings. I don't know if that means I am getting tougher on the reviews (maybe when deciding between 4 and 5 star) or the arcs are not as high quality as when the MA first was released (everyone had that one great idea, but now the ideas are lower quality?) or maybe it means nothing but randomness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To find out the answer to this try rerunning one of the arcs you gave 5 stars to. I've replayed the arcs I gave 5 to and still considered them 5 star material. If you don't consider those ones you 5 starred to be that good any more then I would say it was that you were doing like many of the raters are and giving 5 stars to missions that were simply written better than most of the dreck out there.
  16. As has been said before, use the AE in a different zone. I've used the one in Faultline several times and there is never anybody there.

As for why the powers should not be suppressed. At least twice now in an AE mission I've been in a group that got aggro as soon as they entered the mission. It's not supposed to happen but it does. And it sure is nice if your defenses and mez protection are actually working when that happens. Or if you've got your stealth power up so that the aggro doesn't happen at all.

    [ QUOTE ]
Correct. No vote counts as no vote and doesn't impact ratings. You have to click 1 star twice to vote zero and torpedo someone's arc (deservedly or not).

    [/ QUOTE ]

So as long as I don't click on any of the stars AT ALL, I'm not unintentionally 0-starring?

If I've clicked on a rating, then decide I don't want to give any rating at all, is there a way at that point to do that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, if you click on a rating and then decide you don't want to give any rating at all and so you remove that star, you will be giving it zero stars.
  18. Yes she has turned on me, but kept buffing me. It was odd to be fighting an eb and have her alternate healing and buffing with the odd electrical blast. But since she was kind enough to give me exp when she despawned I forgave her.

Arc 113956 The Devs must die!

Humor, custom group, elite boss at the end but can be soloed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Running this with Lvl 50 Katana/Regen Scrapper

Mission 1: Our contact is 'Angry Nemesis' and he is lowering himself to ask for help with one of his plans gone wrong. This is out of character for him, but we'll go with it since this is supposed to me a humorous arc. The mission si fairly straight forward against Crey and a custom Boss. the boss was annoyingly overpowered on defense.

Mission 2: A search and rescue in an Arachnos base, against the Arachnos. The plot only advanced a little bit here. We find out the list of names are the forum names of game developers and we know where they are located.

Mission 3: We are off to their warehouse to defeat the group named 'The Devs' but all we find are their hobo robots, or hobobots, if you will. The clues are supposed to be humorous, but it just doesn't do it for me. Humor is so subjective, I know, but I didn't find any of it very funny.

Mission 4: We are off to Dimension Z, a casino - the dialog from the contact here was pretty funny though, so at least I got some of the humor in this arc. The EB was way overpowered and his minions had end drain so I was helpless even after a few tries. There are not many EB's that prove impossible for this particular toon either...

Overall this was an average arc. The humor missed me, but that may be personal taste. A few of the custom critters were way overpowered (I don't mind a little overpowered, but this was excessive.) The custom group looked good, but they were really nothing special and we didn't get to see all that much of them. The missions themsevles weren't too bad, though the cargo ship turns a lot of people off I am sure.

    I score this one a 3 star.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Odd, I've run through this myself several times just to check little edits I've made here and there and the end EB hasn't been all that tough for me. Much less so than most the EBs in the standard game missions. That and the mention of the minions draining makes me think you must have been on invincible. The most minions I've ever seen in there on Rugged is perhaps 9. And only 3 of them with him. And of those 3 there is only 1 type that has electrical blasts.

I didn't expect the humor to hit with everybody but the rest of it concerns me. I'll have to run through yet again and see if something is screwed up.

Edit: Checked it out and again, only 2 minions spawned with him and neither were electric. I'm guessing you missed the fact that the EB is an electric brute. He did wipe the floor with me this time though, 3 times in a row, so something must have been changed in one of the patches since I last tested him. I've lowered his difficulty levels in both offense and defense but I don't want to make him too weak. He is an EB after all. Initial boss has also been lowered so that he no longer has unstoppable.
  20. I've never seen that bug before. Are you sure nobody else has your account information? You might want to physically note down how much inf and exp you have next time you log out.

Or you could be playing in your sleep.

Mission 1 is supposed to be a lie. Like he thinks there are COT but in reality there are not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then in that case I would expand what he says. In other words something like "I expected Lemurians but I'm honestly surprised that there were no CoT." Since he doesn't actually mention the lack of Circle it seems like they just didn't spawn.
  22. You are running on the built in geforce 8200 video solution rather than a real video card. The 8200 is mostly intended for playing HD video and simple online games. Anything more than that is pretty much beyond it's capability. Try playing it in safe mode and see if you can manage until you get a video card.
  23. Ok played it. It was a good solid arc, pretty much like one of the better standard regular game arcs. The challenges were tough but not overwhelming. I gave it 4 stars.

    Now to pick nits.

Mission 1: The contact said the place was crawling with CoT, but there wasn't a single CoT to be found.

Mission 2: If you are going to have multiple patrols with dialogue then it's a good idea to create them as separate patrols rather than just multiples of one patrol. The problem with multiples of one patrol is they all repeat the same dialogue and it begins to sound like a joke that is being passed around the office "Why did the chicken cross the road?" "To fight the Three Fold King."

3rd Mission: This office only actually has about 4 spawn points for hostages or glowies. So when you put in multiple glowies and multiple hostages it's a guarantee that one of the rooms at least is going to be a bit crowded. First room I entered had all the objectives except 1 hostage and 1 glowie. Each of those missing ones wound up in a room of its own. I suggest either finding a different map or reducing it to one hostage.

5th Mission: In the intro to the 5th mission one of the sentences is "I won't like to you name." I suspect that you meant it to be "I won't lie to you $name."

I guess that's pretty much it other than random chance playing a part. Like I said, overall a solid story and the Lemurians were a well thought out and interesting group.

My arc is 113956 "The Devs must die!"
  24. If you are talking about encounter text and the way that the pre-aggro and post-aggro both activate at once then so far as I know there is no current way to fix that.
  25. Cargo ship. Linear, no branches at all, and so far as I've tested the placement points work correctly.
