Agreed. You really have to free up disk space and defrag. Since you have very little ram (at least for this game) that page file is going to see heavy use while playing. And that file is at about 1/4 of your current free space. If the drive hasn't been defragmented in a while then the disk is seeking all over the place in an attempt to find free page space. You should also look into getting more ram if possible but unless you are going to switch to a 64 bit operating system there is no sense in going beyond 3 gigs.
Also if I am remembering correctly there are some recent ATI drivers that conflict with CoH. Being an Nvidia user myself I'm not sure which drivers they are but you might search the forums and see if you can track it down.
There is nothing bad in your Hijackthis but you should probably look through and disable any running programs that you never or rarely use. More free ram means less usage of the page file and also quicker loading times. -
Seriously? It takes you 5 minutes to type "Was taunting Recluse in the STF"?
Also I don't agree that the stability needs to be urgently addressed or is a serious and game breaking bug. Quite simply put I don't crash. And 90% of the time I mapserve it's due to my internet and not the game. Sure there is some instability to the game for some people but if they aren't willing to provide the answers to get help then that's their problem.
I'm not trying to belittle your problem, I'm sure it a big deal to you but I don't think it's affecting as huge a portion of the player base as you like to think. And with the attitude you are taking I honestly don't have any sympathy for you. It's like complaining that your car engine is knocking badly and the car keeps dying but you don't want to bother to take the time to take it to a shop because you have a movie you have to see and a baseball game you have to be at. This is a game, that's all. It's no more life changing than Monopoly.
Also your suggestion just doesn't jibe with the attitude you seem to have. You said in your post that you would be furious if somebody were to take time getting back to a TF because they were submitting a crash report. But you would be ok if they came back after 5 minutes and said "Sorry I was so long. I was getting the Bug Hunter badge."? In my opinion at least fixing problems with the game is much more important than getting a badge. If somebody were to take time getting back to a task force because they were submitting a crash report I would be fine with that. If on the other hand they took time getting back to the TF because they wanted to get a badge I would wonder about their priorities. I wouldn't get angry with them because it's just a game but I would make a note of it.
Now hopefully you are one of those people who when they say they hope to see lots of replies doesn't actually mean "I hope to see lots of replies agreeing with me and refuse to tolerate anybody who disagrees with me."
And lastly. If you really want your issue looked at then you need to check if the problem might be at your end as well. So post the results of these two programs
CoHHelper and Hijackthis
Which will tell us if you have bad drivers out of date operating system or conflicting programs or bad hardware or any of a number of things which could cause problems. -
Post the results of these two programs please.
CoHHelper and Hijackthis
And what exactly do you mean by warp in and out of sight? That could describe about a dozen different behaviors including some that are working as intended. -

Wow. You really weren't watching the show were you Durakken? The colonists said they had been trying to contact their home planet for 30 years but the gate wouldn't connect. That is why we know that the gate on their homeworld isn't working.
And if you are talking about the gate on the colony planet then the Destiny did try to connect with it but the Destiny's computer said that it was offline and non functional. And it remained non functional. They didn't get off world through the gate but because the Destiny sent the shuttles to pick them up. -
If rolling back the drivers doesn't help.
Run these two programs and post the results.
CoHHelper and Hijackthis
Also, do you have logging turned on? If so then turn it off and see if that helps.
Also when in game do the following two commands. /showfps 1 /netgraph 1
You will in the upper right be able to see what your fps actually is. This will show how well things are running before combat and during combat. The lower right will show you your netgraph. Red or yellow will mean a bad connection is slowing you, not your card performance. To turn those two off just type /showfps 0 and /netgraph 0 -
The long loading times are definitely ram related. If you can't or won't get more ram then try three things.
First: free up as much space as possible on your system drive. Unless you have changed things around that is the drive that will be used for the swap file. Then defrag that drive.
Second: Stick to older zones. Sure this will keep you from most of the newer content but it will also avoid the more graphics intense textures. You'll still have problems with graphics in some missions but smaller instance is less stress.
Third: Right before entering another zone or instance zoom your camera all the way in to first person. Then use the command /unloadgfx. Then click to zone. -
Quote:This didn't bother me at all because the drones seemed to be local to one specific area. Just like the one group was inactive until the Destiny showed up others would be inactive until a nearby gate was activated. You can't see a streetlight that is 10 miles away. But if one comes on a mile away and then another a mile past that etc...I'm surprised no one else has picked up on the most obvious hole in the episode. I let it slide because I figured one of you guys would pounce on it.
1. The colony people have been using the local gates for a couple thousand years.
2. Gate travel acts like a homing beacon to the drones.
So why wasn't this colony wiped out by the drones a long time ago? The Destiny's FTL drive is much slower inside a galaxy so the colony is well within the range of the drones territory, and the range of the stargates is also limited. Remember in season one Eli, and Zoey, and Scott had to leapfrog from gate to gate to catch up with the Destiny.
All that gate use in that one area should have been a neon sign to the drones. Alien Technology here!! KILL US! KILL US!!
Also I'm pretty sure that when they were setting up their new society Eli would have suggested that they only explore certain gate addresses and avoid those that lead back to the drone and kidnapper alien territories. The colony only started expanding in that direction when their planet was threatened with destruction and they went into emergency panic mode. -
It looked like that in every incarnation except the Ultimate Marvel universe. There it looked like a framing hammer with an axe head stuck on the back. And it was so big it looked like one of those hammers you use to ring the bell at a carnival. I would much much rather see a brick on a stick than that abomination.

It was a decent episode but I had a couple problems with it.
One: In the kino records after 10 years on the planet they had a small village built. They didn't bring any tools through the gate with them but this is still reasonable and possible. When I was a kid friends and I built a small log cabin with nothing more than a couple machetes. It wasn't exactly weatherproof but we were only around 12 years old so it's not only possible but likely that a group of adults could create a small town in 10 years.
And that brings me to the actual problem. 30 years on the new planet and the descendents were still living in tent towns? Not a single permanent structure to be seen.
And now the second problem. Throughout the different series we have seen gates hit by various weapons from Goa'uld to Wraith as our various heroes made last minute escapes. Those gates have survived though and the reason for that was perfectly logical. They are supposedly made of a superconducting material which would either dissipate or channel the energy away. Then there is the episode from season 1 where Eli mentioned that if the gate were damaged by a large enough explosion then it would detonate and take a large chunk out of the planet.
So just two minor points that stuck out as incongruous to me.
I actually consider that a good thing. Around the middle of season 1 I would have had so many problems with an episode that things like this would have been minor. It would have been just a couple pebbles in the avalanche. This is just like the way last weeks episode caused such a huge discussion over something relatively small in the overall scheme of things. It takes a really good show to make little things stand out. And SGU has become that really good show.
I also thought of another minor point but I think they are going to save that for next weeks episode. If the ship's life support can't handle all those people then they should put them in stasis. After all they have already proved that the tubes work. But I'm guessing that next week it will come down to a dilemma of leaving the colony people behind on a frozen planet or else overload the life support systems. Then Eli will come up with the idea of using the stasis tubes. -
From reviews I've read the reason that Hawkeye (and that is him) doesn't shoot is because he has been told to let Thor reach the hammer and see what happens. Then if he manages to get the hammer and looks like he's getting away take him down.

Probably sheer coincidence but I've been noticing something. I almost never visit the front page of the forums but instead go directly to the English section.
Lately though I've been going to the main section so I can check the current population. When current users is 4k or below I seem to connect quickly. When it's in the 4500 to 5k zone it still loads but is very laggy. When the number of users is around 5500 or so it can take a couple minutes for the forums to load and when it's around 6k I can't get in at all.
Now you may be asking how I know what the population is if I can't get in. Well the browser on my Evo connects easily no matter what the situation.
I'm not guaranteeing that it has anything to do with population but it's something I've noticed since I decided to start monitoring it. So I'll keep checking and keep updating. And it's something the rest of you might take a look at when you are having fast or slow response times.
Of course now that I've posted this I'm sure I'll notice an opposite trend. -
I haven't actually done any research into the launcher but I was of the impression that it was using the same technology that some of the other MMOs out there. In other words it is using bittorrent to share download with all other players who have the downloader open.
During the major download of I20 everybody had the client open in order to download so just like a bittorrent with a lot of seeds it was fast. Now however a large number of players have set the updater to close when the game loads. That means that they don't exist on line long enough to connect to so pretty much the only source to download from is the same server that the original updater downloaded from. -
The Forums use your in game password, not your master account password. Unless of course you made them both the same for some reason.

To me it seems obvious that evil Clark wasn't turning good. He had just received the information that the fortress wasn't just a pretty prism but a storehouse of knowledge from a planet with extremely advanced science. Pretty soon he is going to have a cure for green kryptonite and return to being the man in charge.
And Jor-el will support him too. After all even on nice guy Clark's world Jor-el was more into the benevolent ruler path than the be one of them concept that Clark preferred.
But with all the emphasis they placed on gold kryptonite this episode how much you want to bet that they rewrite Booster "Gold" as being a product of exposure to gold k. -
I've said it before and I'll say it again. It was deliberately made confusing, slow and tedious.
For years people have been complaining that they want an end game. The problem with this is that if you look at the other MMOs that have end games that content winds up being beaten very quickly and soon everybody is clamoring for new end game content. Thus the devs made an end game for us that will likely drive everybody except the most fanatic grinders away from doing more than a couple times.
So the grinders won't complain because their characters will be much more powerful than the average players and that is why most of them grind the end game, for the increased power. And those who can't stand running through the end game won't be clamoring for more end game content because it's pointless to ask for more content that you can only get to by going through content you are unwilling to go through.
The devs in one fell swoop (or swell foop) have managed to create end game content that will result in never needing to create end game content again. -
Actually if you think hard about it there are many many things less inspiring than this. Just thought I would correct that misstatement.

The only way you can get turned down for a green dot card is if they can't verify your name, birth date, social security number and address. That and you must be over 18.
As for the Walmart Money cards I believe they are also green dot cards and subject to the exact same restrictions. -
the whole concept is pointless. The moment it nears reality Lucasfilms will file a lawsuit. In fact they may wait until building actually starts so that they can also sue for the blueprints and then build one of their own.

Just saw this reply. Well, that would be all well and good except for one thing. Joss plotted the Angel comic book series and says that it is canon. He says it's based on the ideas he had for season six but isn't season six, whatever that means. Plus when it was filmed it was actually intended as the season ending cliffhanger.
Either way it's still the best season/series ending ever. -
As Amy said the Croatoa arcs give really good end experience bonuses.
-
Agree on the stupidity of the ending. Creatures don't recognize the ability to use weapons, the ability for abstract thought (forming of strategies), wearing of artificial coverings, or the ability to communicate as signs of intelligence. But making fire is absolute proof.
-
If WB did pick it up they would probably leave it with an even bigger cliff hanger. Like they did with Angel.
-
I don't hold the Powells responsible for any of the deaths. They were purely self defense. It just gets me that this supposedly ordinary family with extraordinary powers kills people and five minutes later they are like "Meh, stuff happens."
Just watch. If the series continues then the one thing that the family will be worried about won't be the fact that J.J. just killed somebody horribly which would send most people into therapy for years. Instead they will be worrying about Stephanie and Katie keeping their jobs with their boss dead. -
The whole system was deliberately designed to be confusing, difficult, annoying and tedious.
For years now people have been complaining that there is no end game. The devs know well enough that if they implement an end game system then everybody will just rush though it and start complaining that there needs to be more end game.
This way most people will just give up on the end game except for maybe getting one or two incarnate slots on a particularly well loved character.
Thus ends the argument that there isn't an end game. And since nobody will ever make it all the way through the end game there won't be anybody complaining that there needs to be an end end game.
And yes I'm just joking... possibly. I mean it does make sense now that I think about it.
