NCSoft Launcher

Is it just me or is the new NCSoft launcher giving really slow download speeds?

Since the last patch I've been getting speeds of 25K/s

All my other downloads are just fine. I don't recall the launcher updating this slow before. Anyone know what gives?

I've noticed slow downloads too, at times. Don't have any hard numbers at the moment. I thought one of the benefits of the new Launcher was that it was supposed to download updates from a network of regional distribution servers, supposedly increasing download speeds?

It was super-fast for everything, including I20...but yes, now it is back to slow as molasses style like the old updater.

I haven't actually done any research into the launcher but I was of the impression that it was using the same technology that some of the other MMOs out there. In other words it is using bittorrent to share download with all other players who have the downloader open.

During the major download of I20 everybody had the client open in order to download so just like a bittorrent with a lot of seeds it was fast. Now however a large number of players have set the updater to close when the game loads. That means that they don't exist on line long enough to connect to so pretty much the only source to download from is the same server that the original updater downloaded from.

Right now I'm having two problems. First I tried installing City of Heroes with the new NCsoft Launcher, and every two hours, it redownloaded the entire game over and over again. Next, I tried uninstalling the launcher and reinstalling it and I get a 'Could not load file or assembly error. I got the newer version of the downloader from the NCSoft secure section after logging into my master NC account.

The launcher is messed up, won't let me start the game because a file is already there and it won't replace is or tell me which one it is. I tried reinstalling, didn't work. Can someone help me out, I would like to play this game again at some point.

The performance and gaming experience has diminished noticeably since I have to have that damn memory leaking/lag causing/cookie munching/activity tracking/trojan-like NCSoft Launcher running in the background. It might not be intentionally malicious, but stupid is as stupid does.

Rechecked options, it is NOT in my option selections to close the launcher when loading the game. There is an option to minimize it to the tray while playing. Also there is an option to allow multiple instances. I do NOT have that option enabled. In my impatience I have actually clicked Play Now a second time, because my computer had no indication that it was activated, yet later I had two instances running.
