Game instability Issues A suggestion
Seriously? It takes you 5 minutes to type "Was taunting Recluse in the STF"?
Also I don't agree that the stability needs to be urgently addressed or is a serious and game breaking bug. Quite simply put I don't crash. And 90% of the time I mapserve it's due to my internet and not the game. Sure there is some instability to the game for some people but if they aren't willing to provide the answers to get help then that's their problem.
I'm not trying to belittle your problem, I'm sure it a big deal to you but I don't think it's affecting as huge a portion of the player base as you like to think. And with the attitude you are taking I honestly don't have any sympathy for you. It's like complaining that your car engine is knocking badly and the car keeps dying but you don't want to bother to take the time to take it to a shop because you have a movie you have to see and a baseball game you have to be at. This is a game, that's all. It's no more life changing than Monopoly.
Also your suggestion just doesn't jibe with the attitude you seem to have. You said in your post that you would be furious if somebody were to take time getting back to a TF because they were submitting a crash report. But you would be ok if they came back after 5 minutes and said "Sorry I was so long. I was getting the Bug Hunter badge."? In my opinion at least fixing problems with the game is much more important than getting a badge. If somebody were to take time getting back to a task force because they were submitting a crash report I would be fine with that. If on the other hand they took time getting back to the TF because they wanted to get a badge I would wonder about their priorities. I wouldn't get angry with them because it's just a game but I would make a note of it.
Now hopefully you are one of those people who when they say they hope to see lots of replies doesn't actually mean "I hope to see lots of replies agreeing with me and refuse to tolerate anybody who disagrees with me."
And lastly. If you really want your issue looked at then you need to check if the problem might be at your end as well. So post the results of these two programs
CoHHelper and Hijackthis
Which will tell us if you have bad drivers out of date operating system or conflicting programs or bad hardware or any of a number of things which could cause problems.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
From reading various posts in the forum, I think we can all agree that there is an inherent stability issue with the game which needs to be urgently addressed, and that the Development Team are trying their best to address the issue.
It is also obvious that the Development Team needs player input to resolve the issue, but, there is a player reluctance (me included) to provide such information.
To simplify that, the Development Team NEED our help in solving / tracing the problem, and in return, arent offering much in way of a reward to the players for their time and effort in providing them with the information they require.
To further simplify that, I will use my situation as an example.
I like to play COH, I DONT like to spend my time having to continuously log-in following a crash, and I DONT like to waste my time sending information to NCSoft following a crash my priority is to get back in-game and help my team who may have been attempting a Master of at the time I crashed and my priorities are to get back and help my team, not NCSoft (sorry!).
It is blatantly obvious in my case that there is a conflict of interest between what I want and what NCSoft would like.
Why do I feel my interests are more important? If I crashed during a battle with an AV, and I was one of the damage dealers, my team would be disadvantaged, similarly, if the teams Tank crashed, we would be having serious problems what in this situation would be more important? The team, or information collection for NCSoft? I know what my reply would be to the tank if he re-entered 5 minutes later and said sorry I was so long, I was sending a crash report to NCSoft Id probably be perma-banned for what I would say to the tank!
So I have a suggestion that may be suitable to both sides, and it involves NCSoft bowing to something that will probably cause gasps at all levels!
What is the hardest badge in the game to get? YES, the BUG HUNTER badge!!!!
Maybe if NCSoft would consider awarding players this badge in return for completing say 5 bug reports that appear when a the game would have crashed, do you wish to continue? screen appears, maybe players would start to form teams specifically aimed at identifying the crash issues, and get a reward for their effort?
Similarly, sending in these other reports that they require could count to the reward?
Maybe Im mad in suggesting such an idea, but, what other options are there to what in my opinion, is a serious and game breaking bug?
I hope to see loads of replies.
Get away from that computer once in a while!
Opinions are like bottoms, we all have one, and they usually stink.
Peace.
